Just noticed on US S@H site that the XL Motor (8882), Control Switch (8869) and IR Remote Control (8885) are all on sale. Does that mean we are getting newer replacements (though the latter, we already have them).

I can't tell you I'm not aloud too

Not to be disrecpect but I cannot believe you without a source I think you can understand my motto is "no proof no truth"

But we shall see if we get new motors and if we do that would be amazing!

P.S. Should we place an order for spares if a new system is coming?

We don't have DCC?

IR and battery boxes are unsightly and hard to incorporate in small locos or steam locos?

Can't put rods or third axle in current motorized bogie?

Do you want more reasons? :)

The question is: do we NEED new motors?? What's wrong with the current ones?

PF XL motor is too big for 6 wide engines. A new PF motor with the size of a M-motor and the power of the XL would be nice.

I haven't tried it, but isn't that what I've been hearing about the L motor?

Evolution seems to work, doesn't it?

Then I assume they'll bring out a new train expert creator set with the possibility to motorize it using the new components. I'm very curious now.

And if it could cost less than the XL, and be 50% more efficient that would also be good. And if it came with a free unicorn

Well, i fully agree with andythenorth.

It would be nice if Lego would improve and/or extend the PF system. But when i read a few of the complains here, a guess some of us, no matter what Lego is going to do, will be dissapointed.

The XL motor sure is a bit bigger, but you can't expect the same power out of a motor half the size?!?

Also with the battery box. To get 9 Volt you need wether the old good 9V Battery block or 6 1,5 V Batteries. So what you think should the battery pack look like if you still have to fit in these?

But what would be really nice, is a very small motor like we used to have with the tiny red one at the 9V system. Not with much torque, just to be able to have some remote moving funktions like the bars at a railcrossing for example ;)

For me, I think I will classify the rumor using the MB scale at 'Plausible', i.e. not confirmed nor busted. :)

I have seen some LDD mocups using the XL with wall panels in a 6-wide, but that does limit your design choices. I am also looking forward to a smaller motor.

I am torn whether or not I should pick up another motor, at least to have a spare for my EN.

What does it cost? About $10 or so? It's £8 sterling. Bargain. On the other hand, there will thousands of them on Bricklink for years. Lots out there. Probably not your biggest dilemma of 2014 either way.

What I wish for is a simple adapter that lets us use 9V block batteries whenever there is not enough space left for a full size battery box. I know that there was something like that on Kickstarter, but I would like something that looks a little more professional. Also, better lights and a smaller receiver (with just one channel, maybe) would be nice.

I'd like a motor the size of the old 9Vmicro-motor, at the speed of the L-motor and with the torque of the XL-motor. Add to that a rechargeable battery the size of two 2x4 bricks with a capacity twice that of the current battery box.

Oh, no, wait, I want metal tracks with a wider radius and a DCC controller, both so cheap to produce that Lego can sell a complete motorised train set for €50.

Damn, back to the real world.

Bluetooth with smartphone control anyone?
