Hi all,

Im a relatively new member and have been out of my dark ages only at the beginning of this year after a gap of almost 15 years !!! The modular's were mainly responsible for this.

I have been getting and building a lot of these sets in prep for my Lego city which is in a bit of dis-array due to time constraints. will try to do some moc ing in 2015 hopefully.

In the mean time have been wanting to add a police station set to my city. Have a choice between the current one and if im not wrong the 2011 one. Please help as i can't make a decision between the 2 and why would you choose one over the other....easy of mocing, general layout, vehicles etc etc...

Well, it all depends on which kind of police officers you like.....older style (2011) or newer (2014).....I have built both....enjoyed both and I can't really split them.

The 2011 one has the escape though the toilet and that's the only reason why I brought it.....I thought it was funny !

This years, well I like the modern styling of the station......though the cell block might upset some minifig rights activists !

There are examples here at Eurobricks of the modularization of each of the police stations. It might be a good idea to look them up and then make up your mind.

Well, I'm not a CITY person myself, so there is absolutely no expertise to be gleaned from my input - however, my first inclination is to say: Why choose between the two? Why not get both and combine them into one awesome building, taking what you like from each respective one?

Cops like the new style. full black feels a bit bland though i was thinking i could convert them in custom swat forces.

Im inclining towards the 2011 one:-

1. more police vehicles....well cars anyways.

2. More focus on the 3 storied police station. I feel the 2013 has the jail part which feels a bit over the top. Also, the 2011 building seems to have more design elements and character.

3. You get a proper base plate

I tried somehow not many searches came up.......wonder what im doing wrong!

Wish i could do that. Limited budget unlimited Lego sets that i like.... :classic:
