TBH, I like the look of the new Toa a lot more than their 01 versions.

They blow the Nuva and Phantoka/Mistake-a out of the water, that I'm sure about. They're different in some points compared to the Mata, some things I like despite being a little odd (the new Miru, Gali's azure..), others I'm not yet sure about (Gali's...everything else, Lewa's keetorange, Pohatu's silver if it is really silver, the torso mechanism). But they're fully articulated and they have very few real problems, so there's a very high chance I'm going to like these guys more than the original Toa.

One thing I'm psyched about is that we're finally getting a building system common to all the sets, so no more akward Inika towering over the Metru and Mata/Nuva (2007 onwards things were a bit more varied, but it wasn't a real solution for me). All Toa are finally going to be at the same height (roughly), as it is in-story.

Nothing's stopping them from changing the sizes again.

I am seeing the gearbox kinda like this, although I do hope the torso will be constructed from seperate pieces in the future.

It's the CCBS though, so changing sizes is going to be far easier.

Might just be my computer, but I think the lin to the clear pics is broken.

It's not only yours, I also can't open the gallery (the whole Majhost.com has broken for me actually).

Hmm, it's possible Majhost was down for a short while. Regardless, I'm able to load the page perfectly fine. :D

Good idea GK733! I hope that they (maybe) are real in the near future, but this time there is many pieces in the torso, so don't worry!

EDIT: 100 posts! Yay!!!!

I don't understand how people still debate what Pohatu's secondary color is. I can say without a doubt in my mind that that is silver. For starters, in its render, it is portrayed as shinier than the brown/dark orange pieces, a trait that, while not realistic, is common in packaging art for metallic colors. Second, compared to Kopaka's image, the color simply isn't bright enough to be white, which is what I see people throwing out as an alternative. What it does match is the Guurahk staff on his back, which I can guarantee with even more certainty is silver.

Both of these proposals do little to clear up my doubt that these gear systems will be stable in any way, thus leading to arm flopping.

Everybody keeps complaining about how the Fire Protector has no knees. I just realized that it does - it just has really short upper legs. (Shortest existing HF bone.)

Doesn't change much but I thought I'd point it out.

Shortest existing HF bone? In gray? PLEASE LEGO, PLEASE.

I actually thought that his legs are connected via Hordika necks, bo now, when you mentioned it, I think you may be true... Well, only time will tell I guess.

I don't know specifically which prediction would be more accurate, but Pohatu's shoulders, at least, seem to be exactly lined up with the shoulders of the torso beam. NickinAmerica's concept would raise the shoulders of all the Toa up equally.

I do have to say that I don't think the sets will use the same type of gears as the Toa Mata/Nuva/Metru/Hordika. Considering that Onua visibly uses a knob wheel on his back, I think it's most likely that all the Toa use said knob wheel for the gear functions themselves. Which, I have to say, I don't mind in the least bit. The knob wheels have more torque than regular gears, and are easier to line up correctly since each one will be rotated 45 degrees from the one it meshes with.

Likewise, I think that the shoulders will each be attached via a 4M Axle with Stop and a Ball Joint with Through Hole.

Thanks! :sweet: I look forward to seeing all the Toa in the new gears, and it sounds almost similar to the Toa Mata/Nuva upper torsos,

The Hype Train reaches it's destination, sure, but that's when we board the hype rocket, and the astronomical journey to 2015 begins.

Lego seems to have skipped "3" in their picture countdown on their social media pages. "2" went up today... are we seriously that close to having our hopes and dreams confirmed to be true!

Wait... doing a countdown and skipping 3?

LEGO HALF LIFE CONFIRMED.

I've seen loads of old bionicle fans disproving of the new sets on sites like Youtube and especially 4chan, and fortunately not many other places.

I hope that the gearboxes will be less specialized than the Mata ones, that way they can be used for more than just figures.

This was my first thought; it'd be a cool way to incorporate functions with CCBS (although I imagine they'd want to use friction joints, which I'm not overly fond of).

Onua appears to use friction joints, but I don't really think there's any reason for the others to, since their shoulders don't have to support a whole lot of weight. Additionally, you can clearly see in the pictures that Pohatu and Lewa do NOT use friction joints.

What do you dislike about friction joints?

I don't think the gearbox will be a single part, but rather a complete Technic assembly, given the parts count.

I agree he's silver in the newest pics we got. But in the display pic (which is more finalized), the colour looked different than the silver armour on sets like Lewa and Gali. It actually looks tan to me.

Maybe the smaller Master sets don't have gear functions? (On mobile, so can't really reference pics)

Just never been a fan, since it makes them good for holding poses, but tough to change poses without having to reattach something (Black Phantom's gangly limbs are the most egregious offender of this). That said, I could see it working really well with gear functions.

Lewa has friction joints in his hips.

Speaking of Lewa, I took another look at the picture of him and it looks like his shoulders are actually raised a bit above the torso balljoints.

I hope there will be a way to disable the function, like the extra gear in the Nuva sets.

at least ice protector seems to use a regular looking black gear, so there is a high change of them being used in the torso.

Also they didn't make the same mistake as last time, the 2nd pic is named as ...gov0rl.jpg which clearly has nothing to do with anything and confirms that the reveal will indeed be Bionicle.

Also, they added gold.
