Gatanui Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 For all we know, the characters in Bio15 will be pure robots. Do we know? I've been wondering about this, I don't recall hearing anything about whether 2015 characters are organic, mechanical or both. -Gata Quote
Chro Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I suspect it'll be left ambiguous, at least for a while. Quote

That's what Kalhiki was trying to point out — we can't assume for certain that the new Toa have the same biomechanical physiology as the old ones. To be honest, I wouldn't mind one way or the other. Shakar Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Did you even read your own post? You complained about Toxic Reapa bones never being used again, and grouped them with the rest of the things you were whining over. I was saying that his lime-green lower limbs were used often in 2012 (although have not been seen since), which you seemed unaware of. I am pretty sure I read my posts 2-3 times- I always do. I meant that no new lime bone sizes have been made after 2012- they just reused the ones Toxic Reapa introduced. I thought the original sentence I wrote was clear about that, but apparently it was ambiguous. As you can see, I had no problem explaining my point calmly, so I would really like if you dropped that snarky tone please. And please do not use terms like "whining" and "complaining", Veyronian and I are simply discussing an issue we have with CCBS. I'll call it now - I'd be absolutely over the moon with joy if LEGO made at least the 3M, 5M and 2.0 torso shells in Earth Blue for my sigfig (which uses mostly those shell sizes). I'd add the 6M and the Breakout torso shells to that as they're my favourite shells to work with, but both of those have been out of production since 2012. Why LEGO? You brought back the (less useful imo) 8M shell, but not those two shells? And while on the subject, CCBS is definitely nearing the end of the experimentation stage, so in future sets, even if we don't get new shells and bones, I'd still like to see an expansion of the colour palette of each shell. Like taking a look at rarely-used colours in previous sets and expand the number of CCBS parts available in that colour really. For example, taking Waspix's trans-yellow 8M shells and then make a 5M shell or a 3M bone in that same colour for a future set. They've already done this to an extent (e.g. keetorange), but I'd like to see that expanded to every uncommon CCBS colour really. But I'd still like to see new shells and bones coexisting with the current ones Yup, those seem like good sizes to me. And yeah, I'd REALLY like if the Breakout torso came back. It just fits so nicely with the style of G2, yet Lego dropped that piece entirely after 2012. The 2.0 torso shell is ok as armour plating, but it looks too generic on the Toa.Fully agreed. The colours we have are good, we just need more pieces in those colours. Bones and shells should be for Constraction what bricks are for System. Quote

"reused the ones Toxic Reapa introduced" Technically they reused the ones Surge and Toxic Reapa introduced, and if you want to get picky the Fangpyre Mech too, although it was released 9-5 days later than the other two according to Brickset. Anexcuse Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I'm not sure if this was discussed before or not, but in the small animation LEGO made of the general start of the story, it mentioned the mask makers made "masks of power". It then proceeded to show some defender/protector-shaped masks. Could this mean that the defenders may have powers in the masks? Quote
Mandate Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I'm fairly certain that the Masks of Power are just the Toa's gold masks, but if the Protectors really are the Turaga then I guess it's possible. Quote
Nekchir Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Speaking of masks, do the Protectors have the same heads as the Toa? The answer seems to be obvious. I wonder if the new head(s) style is going to stick around next year and beyond. Quote

No telling, but bear in mind that even if they do, it's no guarantee they can use them. Jaller technically had Lhikan's noble mask in the old story, but as a Matoran he couldn't access its powers in any way. Then again, I have a hard time imagining that they'd do something like that in the new story. I think it'd confuse people more than anything else. Yes, the Protectors have the same head piece as the Toa. I certainly hope it sticks around! It's a great design. Quote

Lord-Vorahk Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 Remember that they don't have to play by the rules this time: Matoran could have Mask powers now, if Turaga have been dropped. Speaking of, I honestly think that the Turaga are gone. With the seires becoming a more action-based thing since the old run's midpoint, the Turaga ended up feeling less like an important group and mroe like some background detailing. Especially since, from 06 onwards, the story team preferred to present the local Matoran as being in a more dire situation by giving them no Turaga to guide them. Now the Protectors seem more like what I thought the Turaga were before the films: They lead their people, but they're fighters themselves, and their tough enough to protect them.So really, more like Jaller or Tanma. Speaking of Jaller, and slightly off-topic, but I went to Biosector today, and it now says that the Toa Mahri were released from their brainwashing and escaped when the Skakdi fusion fought Annona. When was this revealed, because I went there a few days ago and it still said they were controlled. Quote
Nekchir Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 I mean, I wouldn't mind at all if they changed the heads every new wave or so. It gives me new things to MOC with (not that I would be taking apart any of the new sets this time around). Quote

I've been wondering about this, I don't recall hearing anything about whether 2015 characters are organic, mechanical or both. -Gata I really hope they'll be organic AND mechanical, like Bio 1. I mean, Bioincle stands for BIOLOGICAL CHRONICLE, so..... However, I always despised the way the characters had purple, exposed muscles in MOL. It was just.....weird. Speaking of, I honestly think that the Turaga are gone. What?! No more crotchety, rude old guys that sit around and complain?! Noooo!!!! Quote

Both of these are artistic license that I felt the movies went a bit too far on, and I'm glad to see them gone. I liked the idea of Turaga as wise mystics, not as wise (literal) elders; I also thought that the organic parts they shoehorned into the designs looked far too ugly. Quote
Mandate Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Onua review is up! Next up is LOSS and the Protectors! Jk, it's just Gali. Quote
Mesonak Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Next up is LOSS and the Protectors! Haha, I wish. :P Quote
Zorglorfian Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Mesonak, if I were to get three Toa, which ones sound I get and why (definitely getting Onua)? Thanks for the videos! Quote
Aethersprite Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Onua looks really bland without his chest stickers. I'll definitely be putting those on. I'm really liking how he looks! He ties with Kopaka as my favourite Toa of the wave. Quote
Mandate Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I'm going to buy two Gali's and paint one pink then bedazzle it. That'll look cool :P Anyway, I hope we don't get any more minifig sets. I'm not talking about IFB, I'm talking about minifig-scale versions of Constraction sets being sold alongside regular sets. I don't own any of them, but a lot of them just don't look that appealing (Piraka Stronghold looks like something Megabloks would make IMO) Quote
Timeline15 Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 The advantage to onua using stickers is that I can leave them off, and them replace his purple with black and his gold with silver to clean up his colour scheme, and let me moc with the purple. I like how his torso is constructed too. Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 Hey, Onua doesn't look too bad. And the colors actually look pretty good as well though now I feel the gold looks out of place. Hopefully the spash of gold on the chest stickers will fix that. Otherwise, fantastic. And weapon storage is a big plus. Quote
Nekchir Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 I'm keeping Onua's coloring the the way it is to anger the perfectionists. Quote

Yeah, having the weapon storage wasn't surprising, but I'm pleased to see it being done so well. As for the colours, the gold and silver don't look as bad as I thought they would. They fit in with his colour scheme quite well! Quote
