November 5, 201410 yr Nooooo, not Screaming Kid! He was the best of us... Anyway, as for the colour issues with the MoCo, it's worth noting that Makuta might not have turned back to his normal colours after losing the MoUP. If that's the case, then he'll likely have a black MoCo. This is wishful thinking, but maybe, just maybe, we'll get a box set with the Protector-scale Ekimu and Makuta, in their original forms, and two larger sets depicting them in larger bodies, Makuta coming with the MoUP and a black MoCo?
November 5, 201410 yr At the last page of the instructions, it has a green ninja on the "win" page. I think this is finally the end of that screaming kid on the back of the instructions! He's been gone for a while. I know (some) sets from this year didn't have him. I kinda want to see a "where are they now" segment with screaming kid. I wonder if he's still winning. Anywho, good to see Kopaka's review is up. Haven't watched/read it, but I will soon.
November 5, 201410 yr What the Karzhani is that!? Its horrifying! I don't remember seeing him on any of the recent sets I got...
November 5, 201410 yr [argument against the black mask = Mask of Control] Fair enough, you've got me convinced. With that in mind, I don't think it would be too unrealistic to suppose the Makuta set could be corrupted and wearing the Mask of Ultimate Power, but comes with the Mask of Control (in gold). The official press release implies Makuta desires the Control, Creation and Ultimate Power masks all, so including the Mask of Control would integrate a play opportunity for Makuta to hunt for it. November 5, 201410 yr looking at kopaka review, it seems that the combiner is basically the toa holding protector's weapon, with no change whatsoever in his body. now, the picture is pretty small, so i might be wrong. but if that really is the case, then combiners have really gone downhill, i guess. EDIT: scratch that. i haven't got to the point where he shows the back page of instruction when i said that. having a look at the close up of combiner picture, i'm now pretty sure that the combiner is just kopaka wearing golden mask with protectors weapon that slightly modified. really lego? that's what you calls combiner? it doesn't even use any of protector's body parts. seriously? I like the idea of a set with protector-sized Ekimu and Makuta (with the MoCo, as depicted in the video), and another set with a bigger, corrupted Makuta (wearing the MoUP this time). Though, I don't see the need of a black MoCo, or a bigger Ekimu set : as far as we know, Ekimu never changed size or shape like Makuta did (because he never wore the MoUP) and remained the same protector-sized mask maker when he fell asleep.

This reminds me of the Mata Nui/Toa Mata Nui sets, which I wouldn't want. I'm pretty sure people hated Toa Mata Nui in the first place. We should just get the sets in 'large' form.

And maybe have a larger corrupted makuta with the moUP later on.And I can't speak for the whole community, but I liked toa mata nui. (Although it did have its flaws)
November 5, 201410 yr I'm not sure how the rest of the people with review copies are getting on, but I have one major complaint so far- these masks do not stay on very well. every time I try to move the head the mask falls off, just from the tightness of the neck joint (force you have to apply to turn head can sometimes cause you to pop the mask off), let alone the eyepiece launching mechanism. The skull spider masks stay on far better, not sure if it's the shape of the mask or just luck of the draw. Also I'm quite surprised at how poor the eye color is- standard sunlight hardly lights up the eyes, I find that light has to be directly shining down on the eyepiece to really get it going.

I was hoping that the mask tightness would be tweaked before final release. If not then, there is a chance that there might be a running variant. I have a feeling that the light piping not working perfectly is because you need to insert that opaque axle to hold it in place.
November 5, 201410 yr It's more related to the BFTGM contest, but Lego recently posted this on Facebook, to inspire people. And I really hope those beautiful Trans Neon Orange bones will appear in a set soon. BTW, some 3M bones rather appear to be Trans Orange (like Jaller Inika), but it's certainly due to the lighting.

I'm not sure if they're combiners, necessarily. More-so just powered up versions of the Toa. Hopefully we'll see proper combiners (Kaita!) later on.

November 5, 201410 yr Only this part (and this one, but it's not on the MOC). But I was actually talking about these parts (EDIT and there's also this part used on the upper leg), which never appeared in any set before. Edited November 5, 201410 yr by Leewan
November 5, 201410 yr Those would look great on Tahu..or on a LOSS revamp. Maybe we're getting them in a Summer villain? I like Jaller Inika's Tr. Orange a lot more, but since they intend on keeping using Tr. Reddish Orange for constraction, gotta make the best of it. Oh, and BTW, awesome OMOC (Official MOC ). I still think the IfB Beasts heads are some of the best constraction "monster" heads we've ever gotten. Gotta love the absurd amount of eyes. Edited November 5, 201410 yr by Shakar

Nobody at the LEGO Group has called those models combiners. Then again, they hardly ever call ANYTHING a combiner, since "combiner" is a counterintuitive Transformers term that BIONICLE fans basically co-opted for their own use. Officially those kinds of builds are called combination models (can be abbreviated to combi or combo). And no, none of the Toa+Protector combi models seem to use the Protectors' body parts, and given their role in the storyline, they shouldn't. These models represent the Toa using the Protectors' equipment to "power up", not literally fusing with the Protectors. If there are any combi models that represent actual fusions (which there very well might be), THEN we'd be likely to see the actual figures' parts being combined into a larger model.

I'll eat my hat if they reuse those IFB monster heads in sets. Okay, maybe the jaw piece could be used, but with a different head. Or vise versa.
November 5, 201410 yr Mind you, I like them but their rercycling would be lazy. They can work as lower jaws though, I agree.
November 5, 201410 yr So Hau you doing? I must say this mask has sort of grown on me. Not my favorite, but not as bad as I thought it would look in hand.
November 5, 201410 yr They all look marvelous together. I say, where did you get the Mask of Fire? Do you have Tahu's set already? Edited November 5, 201410 yr by Puffle Pal26
November 5, 201410 yr They all look marvelous together. I say, where did you get the Mask of Fire? Do you have Tahu's set already? He has all three of the larger Toa. It's only a matter of time before he finishes reviewing them!
November 5, 201410 yr My only issue with that photo is that it shows how the new hau continues the trend of the masks getting gradually smaller. I thought the stars mask was strangely small next to the mata one, and this is smaller still, yet Tahu is larger than he's even been.

I thought the stars mask was strangely small next to the mata one, and this is smaller still, yet Tahu is larger than he's even been. I agree that it's odd. It particularly stands out on Onua (fantastic as he and his mask design are.) That said, these are masks, not actual heads, so there's a bit more leeway, I suppose. It's not much stranger than the Matoran (the McToran in particular) wearing Masks of the same size as the Toa.

It was never about "convincing" people, just trying to contribute to the overall discussion. But since that seems to be a contest (and I don't have the necessary skill to mspaint some random lines, ignoring that the masks have been given expressions), I'll gladly bow out; Calvin would be proud (Hobbes, not so much). Anyway, I like the slightly smaller masks. The Kanohi could seem a little excessive at times, and the Nuva only exacerbated that process.
November 5, 201410 yr I haven't been keeping up on BIO15 news for a while.. can anyone fill me in on some recent developments?
