Huh,those 15 extra seconds make such a difference. Completely 180d my opinion on the commercial. That CGI though... Mmmm hmmm, good stuff right there

Yeah!, and at least we see Kopaka do something instead of just being Tahu. And the CGI, I personally would like to see more of it.

I really like the new info we got and the fact that Skull Grinder has a name, Kulta, which is cool and seems to be based on the term 'occult'. I really like that commercial and I too would very much like to see more cgi videos for gen 2, they were one of my favorite things in gen1.

Ahaha that Skull Grinder laugh is great. I like how the skull villains are just standing still watching how Tahu jumps at their leader.

Wait a minute..... If the Skull Grinder, Kulta, is a skeleton cult kinda guy who uses magic, has bones, lives on an island..... *GASP* BONE HEADS OF VOODOO ISLAND! OMG!

This new commercial is awesome. I hope Kulta will be more a challenge than LoSS has been to the Toa. Glad to hear that LoSS isnt out of the game yet.

Also, new sets are on german online store, too.

BTW, some of Skull Basher's descriptions says "Dieser ehrfurchtgebietende Krieger wurde vom Totenkopf-Brecher erschaffen... "

That means he is also created by Kulta like Skull Scorpio =O

They're officially in Italy too.

Yeah, they are! Don't think I'll resist for long.

I can dig Kulta. It sounds more 2001-ish than most names we got in the later years. I can see a MNOG Matoran with that name.

I was reading some of the set descriptions when I came across this; "Rip off their masks with the hook blade and channel their elemental power to awaken more of the Skull Warrior’s undead comrades!"

So now this implies that elemental energy is stuff that keeps these guys going, or that it at least awakens them.

So remember kids, if you want to raise people from the grave you gotta either have an elemental mask of power, create them using the Mask of Creation, or have a magic skull spider mask.

So... does this mean the Assassins are actually super-agile zombies and that the Templars are actually good guys with awesome powers?

Gaming jokes aside, I'm a bit disappointed by the weapon choices they gave the skull villains. "Rip off their masks" they say, but wouldn't it be easier to just smack the back of their heads?

It might explain why the Lord Of Skull Spiders wanted the elemental masks also... given his army of Skull Spiders probably needs to be sustained by elemental energy also.

Though i'm still questioning the lack of mention of Makuta... the press release from a while back named him 'Makuta The Mask Hoarder' so i'm suprised the story seems to be ignoring him for the moment. Hopefully the books include him. I mean, we can all go under the belief he is somehow pulling the strings, but its still odd we have'nt had much refrence to him since the backstory.

Well, what's more painful? :D

Would that explain his why he is a bull-like humanoid?

Wow, meta-reference! Now I'm starting to warm up to the Skull Creatures.

I think it's safe to assume that, unless said otherwise, they're all created by Kulta (love that name :classic:)

Or he wanted to awaken the other Skull Creatures before the Toa arrived.

As for Makuta, it's understandable: we're accompanying the Toa, and so far all they know is that the Skull Spiders (and later Creatures) are threatening the villagers and they must awaken Ekimu to stop it. Maybe they'll learn more about Makuta after awakening his brother.

On a sidenote, Skull Slicer's bio makes me want to see him in a restored form in the future, even if only in the media (but given tons of media-only characters was one of G1's problems, I doubt that'll happen :cry_sad: ).

Well, what's more painful? :D

I for one would say that possibly inflicting permanent brain damage is probably a crueler thing to do to than ripping someones face off, especially if they can just replace it anyway. I mean, why would the Toa throw away their original masks?

JangBricks review of Skull Scorpio

also this as a side note-

I immediately went to Bricklink and ordered the required pieces to fix Skull Grinder.

Also, anyone have a fix for the gaps in Skull Grinder's chest?

Most the fixes i have seen have just been adding additional things off the balljoints next to the ribs

While I don't own the set just yet. I did at test mod in ldd and found that lowering the chest armor a notch did make the gap less large and also should help with head posability

That would be a cool storyline for a character. Someone who forgot their past. Or did Slicer already take that?

Hey guys, this may be just a coincidence, but...

Doesn't this look kinda suspicious?

... huh.

Neat.

Well, you have the Toa who don't remember their past, and Slicer who was made to forget his, so I'm pretty done with amnesiacs at this point =P.

True, though your point does remind me. Why is only Slicer being controlled by the Lord Of Skull Spiders, why isnt he controlled by Grinder? Are the two villains rivals?

Just seems like an odd thing to do, having Slicer be effectively a celelbrity for those on Okoto, then have him be resurrected by Grinder, then reveal he has amnesia, then be taken over by the Skull Spiders and then be controlled by The Lord Of Skull Spiders. I mean there is backstory and then there is Slicer xD

Hey guys, this may be just a coincidence, but...

Just a coincidence, similar to how the Onua shoulder armour on his leaked images to me looked like they had the same engravings as the Mata Nui stone.

Maybe Slicer remembering his past will cause the Toa to realise that they cannot remember their own? This could then trigger them discovering aspects that might make them remember their own past before arriving on Okoto

Amnesia seems to be Bionicle's go-to plot device, what with all the memory wipes in G1 and now with our amnesiac heroes and villain in G2. Regardless, I just hope some of Slicer's past is explored in some way, shape or form (this is what I loved about the early serials, they let us explore the past). Maybe it can be a plot point that drives him to woobie destroyer of worlds/tragic monster territory and makes the him side with the Toa?

Or you can simply use this instead of this, which doesn't require any extra gear, and even improves the color scheme. Honestly, I don't know why the designers didn't use this solution from the beginning.
