September 19, 20159 yr But then that's not really using it, that's just destroying it. I didn't get the impression that his plan was to steal said masks only to destroy them, based on the language used. It does hinder the opposition, obviously, but it also removes it from play for his own personal use, which I'd like to know more about what his plans were for. Makuta has no "personal use" for the MoCr. As far as we know, all it does is make people younger and create magic masks, which is probably the exact same thing the MoCo does too. It's a book blurb and a Shop@Home advertisement, it's not like it's actually canon. But even so, you quoted the book as "Craving power, the evil Makuta searches for the three mythical masks that will enable him to take over the world" Nowhere does it actually state that Makuta is going to use the masks, only that he's searching for three masks that will allow him to take over the world. Nowhere does it state how these masks will allow him to take over the world. I suppose I'm stretching it a bit here, but by obtaining the MoCr he has the capability to ensure victory by destroying it. But like I said before, the blurb of a book is not canonical. I'm surprised anyone read that deeply into them, it's been a common trend in any story-based line for the marketing team to make a bunch of mistakes in the media. For instance, the blurb for book #2 "Attack of the Robots" from Exo-Force is literally copy-pasted from the first book, picture and all.
September 19, 20159 yr Makuta might be a hoarder, but he's probably got enough control over himself to realise that keeping the MoCr around wouldn't help him. Speaking of control, what sort of control does the MoCo grant the wearer? Is Makuta using it to control Kulta and LoSS? If so, could it be used to control the Toa too? Or does it do something else? Also, I still think it's unfair that Ekimu got more love from the Okotan thena Makuta did for being better at creating stuff, when the power his mask grants him is "being good at creating stuff". THat's like liking Tahu more than Onua when it comes to lighting things on fire.
September 19, 20159 yr Not only that, but Makuta definitely had better aesthetic sense than Ekimu, too. The Mask of Ultimate Power looks way cooler than any of the masks Ekimu has made.
September 19, 20159 yr Not only that, but Makuta definitely had better aesthetic sense than Ekimu, too. The Mask of Ultimate Power looks way cooler than any of the masks Ekimu has made. What? We haven't even seen the full MoUP, all it does is emit smoke as far as we know and that could have easily been a by-product of its nature, not anything Makuta intentionally designed it to do. We haven't seen all of the masks either one of them has made, anyway.

Well, maybe we would have seen that if Slicer/Scorpio/Basher were successful at stealing the Toa's own masks. But the MoCr is a special case--- it must be destroyed, lest Ekimu regain its power.
September 20, 20159 yr ... Ooooh. Just realized Makuta most likely used his mask to control the Skull creatures. I'm slow. But, if Ekimu went into a coma after knocking the MoUP out of Makuta's face, shouldn't Makuta be asleep too? Or did he manage to stay awake all this time? Did someone help him?

But, if Ekimu went into a coma after knocking the MoUP out of Makuta's face, shouldn't Makuta be asleep too? Or did he manage to stay awake all this time? Did someone help him? Yeah, you're pretty slow if you're realizing that just now Makuta could be asleep too. Ekimu was able to communicate to the Toa (weren't the Toa's masks made by Ekimu?) because they were wearing his masks even though he was not wearing the MoCr, I would assume something similar is going on with Makuta. Fun fact: The heroes have destroyed more of Okoto than the villains. Out of the total destruction caused by anything in the series so far, from least to most, it goes: Makuta < Skull Villains < Decay < Pohatu < Onua < Ekimu So much for the good guys
September 20, 20159 yr Speaking of control, what sort of control does the MoCo grant the wearer? Is Makuta using it to control Kulta and LoSS? If so, could it be used to control the Toa too? Or does it do something else? I'd imagine the original use for the mask was to control the fires/heat and metal in order to make masks. But I figure it also has enough power to control beings of lesser minds such as animals and the undead. So sapient beings like Toa and the rest of the islanders wouldn't be able to fall under the Mask's control. Just my interpretation of its power.

I think that might be a little bit too... interpretive of a power to have =P. I just kind of figured there was a general irony in it; Makuta has a mask that's not related to his job at all, while Ekimu wears a mask that's specifically about what they do, and gets praised when he's magically better at it. As for where Makuta IS, it's still a bit of a mystery. Ekimu isn't super certain that Makuta is back in a physical form (hence why people think possession), but everyone is definitely sure that he's behind the things that are going on. Something to feed into next year, no doubt, and maybe even the year after.

While that would be humorously ironic, it just doesn't seem right. Considering the Mask of Creation was created long ago, I can only assume it has been passed down the generations from Mask Maker to Mask Maker, and the same has been done with the Mask of Control. In other words, said masks aren't specific to Ekimu and Makuta, but rather the Mask Maker profession. More speculation on my part. My current head-canon until more info comes to light. That being said, it would be hilarious if neither of them had any talent, and the Masks are just handicaps to make them better at their job.

But, if Ekimu went into a coma after knocking the MoUP out of Makuta's face, shouldn't Makuta be asleep too? Or did he manage to stay awake all this time? Did someone help him? G2 Ahkmou confirmed. But seriously, that's a legitimate question. It took all 6 elements to awaken Ekimu, but Makuta? Since the MoUP is made out of all 6 elements, maybe there was some of its energy that got into Makuta and managed to reawaken him almost immediately. That would explain how Pohatu is imagining him in his corrupted Titan form, maybe he's somehow seen him before, unless that was just a representation for the viewers. But is he hiding now? Is he having his servants do the dirty work because he's weakened (because of Ekimu's blow? Because he's mask-less? You'd think a Mask Maker would be able to craft a simple temporary mask for himself)? Or is he just being your average lazy "I'll stay here on my throne" Big Bad? Or it might be that the blow had different effects on each brother- Ekimu, the hitter, was knocked into a coma, while Makuta, who was the one who got hit, had his spirit removed from his (probably lost or destroyed) physical body. Body-less spirits IIRC died after a while in G1, but that might not apply 1) for G2 in general or 2) for the Mask Makers, who (going by Ekimu) seem to be even above the average Toa's power level.

Yeah, I was kinda joking... And when was this? I assume the book since I haven't read it yet. ... Maybe he just got lucky. :P
September 20, 20159 yr I just noticed something. Next week we'll probably have episode 17, and if there is an episode 18 it'll probably air the week after that. Which means we'll end he Skull storyline in September/first week of October. Unless, of course, they make webisodes for "Revenge of the Skull Spiders". Hopefully with the unused animations from the character videos.
September 22, 20159 yr Well I got my Villain pack in the mail today. The paper cutout of the six golden masks with there elements looks really good underneath my mask suva. And now that I have the golden grinder mask. I can finally work on a moc I've had in the works since I saw that the mask was going to be in that color.
September 22, 20159 yr "Who is the signatory of the graphic novel? What it is going in this? Additional Story or from the book? RW: I’m scripting the graphic novels too. I can’t say much about the stories, but I think it’s okay if I say that they’re more than adaptations, that we’re using them as opportunities to expand on the characters, locations and history." This tidbit about the graphic novels popped up in an interview with Ryder Windham, looking forward to them!
September 22, 20159 yr Finally, some news on those graphic novels. Can't say I'm too interested in the chapter books, but these graphic novels have had my interest for a long while, seeing as how the comics in G1 were my biggest source of story info(crappy internet way back when *nostalgia tears*).
September 22, 20159 yr Not that there was ever any doubt, but the "Gathering of the Tor" title for the first graphic novel was indeed a typo, it's "Gathering of the Toa."

September 23, 20159 yr Not that there was ever any doubt, but the "Gathering of the Tor" title for the first graphic novel was indeed a typo, it's "Gathering of the Toa." Guess there's not much demand for Lego on the Deep Web?
September 23, 20159 yr Guess there's not much demand for Lego on the Deep Web? It's a shame too, I would love to have seen Toa Onya, master of the onion router.
September 23, 20159 yr Not that there was ever any doubt, but the "Gathering of the Tor" title for the first graphic novel was indeed a typo, it's "Gathering of the Toa." Wow, can't wait to see this "OKTO PROTECTORS GUIDE"!! Really, Amazon. Proofread your descriptions. Edited September 24, 20159 yr by BBBeavarr
September 24, 20159 yr I recently caught up on the animations, and they are either way better when 'binge' watching or they have improved a little bit. Also, Kopaka is perfect material for memes. Edited September 24, 20159 yr by Emveeon
