Pretty sure it's not hair. Pohatu has a weird black blog next to his armour and between his arm too, one that can't be the torso piece behind the armour because the angle would be wrong. And it looks like Kopaka might too? IDK what it is but maybe we're looking at some sort of new torso or torso connection.

While after almost four years Ninjago may have surpassed BIONICLE, I highly doubt about Legends of Chima.

It's a mystery the reason LEGO is so reluctant to make public the sales numbers of its franchises.

I thought we were talking about yearly sales, not overall sales summed up over all years of the theme's run. In that case, you are probably right.

I don't know what your talking about, lewa with his classic smile and an overgrown mullet would be awesome!

You know, I gotta say, this is the first I'm hearing of Lewa having a "classic" smile; I've seen some people interpret the Miru shape as a smile before, but I didn't realize how widespread it was.

Looks like I'm not alone.

I've seen the Miru with a sort of jaw, at best.

A smile? Read it here for the first time.

Is the new BIONICLE sets in resealable bags?

I hope so. Those bags are the best packaging LEGO's given us.

I can fit them all in a shoe box whereas my canisters take up several large boxes.

You know what I'd like to see, more than just the continuation of the bags, is the art style of IFB. It could be a while before we get any Bionicle comics again, but what's to stop them from doing the comics in the instruction booklets, and the neat artistic drawings on the top/bottom of the bags?

Eh, way too organic for me. I just can't see bonlkes with hair. But yes, DV is probably right, I had noticed the squarish shapes on the Toa' backs (I think all 6 feature it) but I didn't think of Lewa's armour/hair/whatever pieces being connected.

Oh god, I hope they don't get hair. Nope.

I'm totally down for new torso components.

Also, since when was "Raise ur Bonkle" under my profile pic? I didn't do that. Who did that? Is it an award?

I think it's been discussed before, but there's definitely something going on with the torso. The shoulders are in line with the chest piece, which doesn't happen if it was a regular torso bone. And the torso shell covers the crotch. And look at Tahu. His body seems really thick; something seems to be going on with his back.

It's either some crazy engineering, or a new torso. I vote the latter.

Perhaps it's nothing but back armor. It's the kind of thing we can expect from a 20€ set, especially since he doesn't seem to use a lot of Technic elements like Fangar, or Furno XL, or other titan-sized sets.

Well, just to throw the possibility out there... could there be a function built into the back of the sets, similar to what Scarox and Bruizer used but perhaps more refined? Since these Toa still APPEAR to use regular CCBS torso beams, that would require building the function off of the back, just as those two sets did.

In my opinion, this would also explain something else that's been puzzling me — the apparent discrepancy between the visible complexity of the sets and their price points and recommended age ranges. Most of them appear to be fairly run-of-the-mill humanoid designs, and if that were the case, surely the mid-size sets would be recommended for ages 6–12 and the large sets for ages 7–14, like the Chima constraction sets. But instead, the recommended age ranges are consistent with this year's Hero Factory sets: 6–12 for the small sets, 7–14 for the mid-size sets, and 8–15 for the large sets. A Technic function would more than justify the increased recommended age range. What's more, without things like the pre-assembled, painted, high-detail head pieces used by the Chima constraction sets eating into the budget, you'd expect them to have higher piece counts than the Chima constraction sets at those price points. A Technic function on the backs would use a lot of pieces in a way that would not be plainly visible from the front of the sets.

Would certainly be interesting to see functions coming back.

Could just be some kind of connection assembly for the Defenders, though.

I think the only function the Defenders have is their gatling gun thingamajig.

LewiMOC, that mock-up looks good! I miss the small Matoran-sized sets, I'm glad they're coming back.

I'm not sure what good a function would be. It's an unpopular opinion, but I really disliked the functions on the older sets, because they caused a limit in posability and articulation. Sure, they could swing their arms around a lot, but it looked rather silly to me. These elite warriors looked less like they were engaged in fights, and more like they were swatting at nearby bugs. And the villains always ended up really floppy in the midsection. Yes, I was a boring child. At least with the Nuva, you could lock them in place easily, but no such cure existed for the later sets. It also made the torso pieces overly specialised, since they were basically big gearboxes with a few pinholes in them. I've found use for Metru torsos as limbs, but have had no such luck with the others.

TL;DR, I'd rather the functions didn't return.

No, I completely agree with this. Even when I was a kid I disliked the functions for all the reasons you've listed here.

I have given up trying to figure out the image. Every time someone says they see something new, i can't find it. And some things, like the "Mata Nui spirit" are just plain dumb. Analyzing this photo is a dead horse. We have killed the horse, brought him back to life, and then beat him to death again. I think that we have analyzed every aspect of the photo, so why don't we talk about the things that are still important: the story.

The defining factor of Bionicle was its deep story; do we think that the story will be dumbed down? Will it be made simpler, and more action-oriented, rather than focus on morals and lessons? I really hope not....from what I hear (I don't watch the shows), Ninjago has a pretty good story, so I hope that Lego will keep Bionicle the way we once knew it: story oriented. And who will be the main villain; I think we have all agreed, reluctantly or not, on a reboot, so will they still use Makuta? (Or Teridax; I hate how they made Makuta a species name, so that the line "I am the Makuta" is now "I am a Makuta.")

I completely agree. We've gleamed everything we can from what we've got. As for what Lego reveals I honestly don't care, just as long as they make it official and that information can start being released. But knowing them we'll at least get some images of stuff. Sets on the floor would be sweet to, but I'd be happy with just images, a confirmation and maybe a little info on how it'll work story wise. (hope someone at lego's taking notes). :D

I liked the functions inasmuch as they represented the overarching game aspect; knock masks off, etc. I won't mind functions coming back as long as they serve an interesting purpose, rather than just for the heck of it, like Scarox or Bruizer.

(vehicle functions, on the other hand, are totally cool)

I completely agree, the comic art would be great to see in actual Bionicle Comics. Though with lego canceling the club magazine to anyone over 12 that'll make things a little tricky for us to get,

The bags are a mixed bag(pun intended) on one hand yes I fit all mine into a single Box(My Jet Rocka box to be exact) but on the other hand big, long, then weapons tend to get bent. I got a Thornraxx that had the wings bent in a U shape. I had to heat them up over my stove to get them back to being straight. My Dragon Butt's wing blades were bent to but not nearly as bad. So I think the bags are good as long as they don't cram too much in them. If they are careful about what goes in them I think they're great. I like the compactness of them.

I also like the way the new boxes are made to. Just cut the tape and voala, opened. That's so much nicer than the old ones where you had the punches and ripped the box open. Nice job lego redesigning your packaging.:thumbup:

Touché, then let's say I'm leaving her and some other non-Toa races as exception. But on Toa? No, just no.

And the Toa having functions? Oh my, please no... Never liked them.

Sadly, the one year where I really liked the function was the final year the toa had them, the toa Hordika. If both arms had the same thing I woulda loved that. It had the gear functionality without messing up poseability. It had the best of both worlds. In fact that whole year's functions did I think.

I liked the functions in concept, if not in execution. They work better in larger sets, where they can be integrated without interfering with flexibility and the like.
