Anexcuse Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Wait...I just realized something: Lego said that they will be announcing a new theme at NYCC. It can't be Jurassic World, or elves, or anything else, because those have already been announced!! It will be BIONICLE!!!!! None of those themes have been announced, they were leaked. Quote
GK733 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 None of those themes have been announced, they were leaked. Jurassic World was confirmed as a theme by one of the actors, but not directly by TLG: http://brickfanatics.co.uk/lego-jurassic-world-sets-confirmed-for-2015/ Quote
Logan McOwen Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Here's some sketches of how I see the masks. http://www.majhost.c...015biomasks.png Not saying they're accurate, that's just what I see. Great sketch! Quote
Anexcuse Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Jurassic World was confirmed as a theme by one of the actors, but not directly by TLG: http://brickfanatics...irmed-for-2015/ Alright, maybe Jurassic World, but not elves, Super Cars, etc. Although none of those are really significant, it has a good chance of being Bionicle, and probably is. But I don't want to draw to conclusions until there's more proof or we see a leak of the Comic Con plans. I'm hardly gonna wait a month for being excited and then LEGO shows something like Elves. (Which probably won't happen, but I just don't want to get too excited just in case) Quote
Agent Fusion Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Does The LOSS wear a mask? I think I can see one on the art at the top of the display. Quote
GK733 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 (edited) Does The LOSS wear a mask? I think I can see one on the art at the top of the display. LOSS head is made of pincers and face of Black Phantom chestplate with eye printing. I think the mask will attach to it's back. Edited September 3, 2014 by GK733 Quote
Lord-Vorahk Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 It looks like every non-Matoran set comes with a gold mask. LOSS gets a gold version of the one that makes the SS body, by the look of things. Quote

Agent Fusion Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 Maybe TLOSS wants the mask so he can create the dreaded Golden Spider. Quote

Love these! The only one that looks off is Lewa's, I agree with Aanchir. It's too wide, whereas the set mask has a more narrow shape similar to the classic Miru. Overall though, very accurate drawings. These masks actually do look like the classic masks, another reason these sets, AFAIC, trump the 2008 Toa.EDIT: by looking closer, Gali's shoulder armor is used as torso armour on defenders. Same for Tahu's shoulders. That piece is used in nearly all new sets. It's a piece I'm very exicted about, given the sets show it can be used pretty much in any area of the body. Plus, those eye-like holes remind me of the Toa Nuva shoulder pads, which is great. Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 I hope all of the characters keep the traits, or at least similar versions of them, which made them unique: Kopaka the cold, distant Toa, Gali the warm, nuturing Toa, Tahu the leader, Lewa the bumbling hippie-Toa, etc. If they completely change it, I would be so disappointed. All of their personalities were fine the way they were. Also, just for giggles, how many times do you think that Lego designers and officials check this thread, just to see how wrong out predictions are? Quote

Also, just for giggles, how many times do you think that Lego designers and officials check this thread, just to see how wrong out predictions are? I think they'll probably keep most of those traits in some form or another. After all, those traits weren't assigned arbitrarily — not only were they archetypical, but they were all thematically tied to the characters' elements in some way or another. I know some designers check in on message boards like this occasionally, but I think they'll be more interested in seeing how we react to the sets once they're properly revealed or released than in checking in on us before we even have a totally clear idea what we're talking about. Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) ^That's the fun part! We say, "Oh, will it be a reboot or continuation?" While we battle it out for pages upon pages, the designers get to smirk and say, "It's a reboot! <giggle>." Also, we probably gave them some pretty good ideas..... Dorek Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 I like to think they have better things to do with their time than checking out message boards all the time, but who knows. Obviously the occasional person like Front enjoys checking in with us (and teasing us) but I doubt there's some larger concerted effort to troll the forums. Plus, design feedback would likely be of a higher priority than story feedback, and since we don't have any real high quality images to work with... Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 ^You get my point though. "Oh Lewa's mask looks like this!" "No, this!" "No, THIS!!" Lego Designer: "It really looks like this <giggle>." Back on topic, I am a bit disappointed with the villains. As many have pointed out, these are likely starter villains, like the Rahi and Bohrok, but still. LOSS seems really....lame; I know that Bionicle has included many Earth-reminiscent animals, like crabs, scorpions, tigers, squids, etc, but this is just to dumb. A big spider? Seriously? And this is a main villain? I hope they bring back Makuta (yeah, not Teridax: Makuta! I say that they make Makuta a single person, not a species!!) Quote

In 2001, all the villains we got in set form were just possessed Rahi. The "Lord of Skull Spiders"'s name implies sentience and leadership, so I'm willing to bet that it will be a satisfying character instead of a generic enemy or mook. Quote

What makes you so certain that Lord of Skull Spiders is a main villain? It could easily be a secondary villain, like the King Root of the Morbuzakh — which never even EXISTED as a set. In video game terms, the first boss or even a mid-boss, not the end boss. Splitter Beast was the biggest villain from the first wave this year, but I wouldn't call him a "main villain". He was just one beast out of many (or rather, out of three). We didn't get anything approximating a "main villain" until the second half of the year. Likewise, there was no "main villain" in the 2013 Brain Attack series at all, unless you count Dragon Bolt from the second wave. Another note: while there are no other dedicated villain sets in the first year, if the Skull Spiders do in fact perform the same function as Krana or Infected Kanohi, then any of the other sets could be turned into a villain just by swapping their mask for the Skull Spider that their set also includes. Kalhiki Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) Okay. I said before I'd highlight what I see for Lewa's mask in the picture: So... I really have no idea what's going on. The two masks look so different. And since I've been looking at it this way for so long, I have a hard time seeing anything otherwise. Edited September 4, 2014 by VBBN Leaked image removed Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 ^^True. Or, it could be the new Mask of Life. Also, LOSS is ridiculous because he just looks like a big spider! At least the crabs looked unlike earth crabs; this just looks like A BIG SPIDER!! And I never said he might be the main villain; I meant main villain for the first wave. ^Kalhiki, I noticed that too. None of the masks seem to correspond with the golden ones, except for Tahu and Kopaka. Everything else..... Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 (edited) Just throwing out a random idea I had after seeing LN-01354's comment about mask corresponding: What if the Mask of Life got split into several different masks, somehow? Toy themes certainly enjoy having the Macguffin be spilt up between all sets, and this would certainly fit that bill. Of course, exactly how they would work that into a story line, since they are all separate masks, who knows. But it still makes some degree of sense... Maybe it's split up into multiple masks, each corresponding to an element, and the Toa have to collect them out of a forest haunted by Skull Spiders, and each mask has a guardian or something... Edited September 4, 2014 by Lind Whisperer Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 ^That is similar to my idea; I thought something like this: "The Golden Masks were created as a sort of contingency plan (maybe by....Great Beings?), so that if ever a "mysterious evil" arose, the Toa would be able to defeat it. However, the same mysterious evil (Makuta?.....) has sent out henchmen to steal the masks (the Defenders). Now, each Toa must battle through the hordes of skull spiders and defeat the Defenders of the Masks, in order to defeat the evil once and for all. When all of the masks are collected, they can be fused together to create a single, powerful mask (the large one in the center of the photo.), which houses a Great Spirit." The idea has plenty of flaws, but this is just a rough idea. The basic points of my idea are that the Defenders need to be evil, and the masks need to be stolen. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 ^Continuing on the speculation, with inspiration from your ideas/previous toy ideas LEGO seems to like re-using: "Makuta, although his body is crushed underneath hundreds of tons of rock, still lives. Craving the Golden Masks* hidden over Spherus Magna in the ancient days by the Great Beings, he has joined the Dark Lord of the Skull Spiders, seeking more power to defeat the Toa, and reclaim Spherus Magna for his own." *Of course, that begs the question exactly why didn't anyone seek these Masks sooner...maybe their location was hidden away in his software banks, and no one knew about them until Mata Nui turned on again? It also presumes that Makuta has Joker Immunity, but for any extremely popular villain, that's kind of a given anymore... Quote
GK733 Posted September 4, 2014 Posted September 4, 2014 Edited by VBBN, Yesterday, 10:47 PM. Image containing leak removed Am I not allowed to embed pics here? Or was it just mistaken as a "new leak" because it was cropped and tilted (if that is the right word) version of the pic we have been said is free to post. I didn't know I was this proffesional. The mask featured on the top is the strangest thing in my opinion, since it doesn't share any aesthetics of Bionicle nor Hero Factory. It's has to be something personal for Great Beings. Quote
