Whoa, those look fantastic! I remember making Adaptive Akamai Nuva once but it was really rubbish. Did you only use pieces from those sets or did you include others?

Just pieces from those sets! It was a really interesting challenge for sure, since obviously a lot of the building techniques that were used for the original Toa Kaita and Toa Nuva Kaita wouldn't work with the 2008 versions. But I still tried to take inspiration from the Toa Nuva Kaita in particular, since they demonstrated more diversity than the original Toa Kaita. In particular, I sought to make Akamai Nuva big, burly, and masculine, and Wairuha Nuva smaller and more effeminate (this image from BionicleLegends on Brickshelf shows the difference in height and physique really prominently).

I built a Toa Metru Kaita way back in the day as well, but since I never got pictures of it, I have no idea whether it was actually any good. In that case I do remember keeping more of the traditional Kaita three-torso build, something that's much easier with gearbox-style torsos than it is with beam-style torsos.

I haven't really tried building a Kaita-style model with Hero Factory sets, and I honestly don't know how easy or challenging it might be. Certainly it might be difficult to make a model with the same towering height as the original Toa Kaita from smaller sets, since the increased number of hinge points in the legs might make it difficult for the model to support its own weight. Also, since they have beam-style torsos rather than gearbox-style, the classic three-torso build might not be nearly as effective. Still, I'm sure that with enough clever MOCists working on trying to build Kaita models from the new Toa, somebody's bound to come up with a solution!

wait wait wait... there's a slizer combiner called HIKER MIKE? that's the actual name? Lego, I love you XD.

Very impressive modernized kaita btw Aanchir, and while I feel like your idea about colour schemes has its limits (some combiners look decidedly gaudy) I agree that people are sometimes too dismissive of sets/mocs that use more than 2 or 3 colours.

I personally like more Bionicle construction but I'm very intrested to see where they are going with CCBS, because it holds great potential but the pieces for haven't achieved it yet. Well at least the limbs are more than just one piece so we don't have to see abominitions like... http://www.majhost.c...nContd/back.jpg and http://img4.wikia.no...Lucas_Valor.png

Wow.....they made a Bionicle Stars Combiner? Ugh......And what character was that even supposed to be?

That was Gaardus.

Gaardus was first introduced as an unnamed combiner on the back of the final BIONICLE comic, Rebirth. A "Who Am I?" contest was held, asking participants to send in essays detailing his history and powers. The winning entry was created by Elizabeth Schroeder, and adapted into the story by Greg Farshtey.

Honestly, there's no way a six-set combiner of the Stars would have any sort of cohesion, and for what it is, it could be worse.

We'll definitely see some combi-models, and even Hero Factory had some that are canon, so I won't count it out for BIONICLE. But whether or not the instruction ones are storyline relevant remains to be seen. I could see a "Wairuha" combiner as an old-school reference, but perhaps not canonly so.

(also, yeah, Hiker Mike)

THIS! My most anticipated sets of 2015!!

I legitimately want Gnuklear and that fake Makuta for the parts. XD (MATA RED SCARABAX SHIELD HALF YESSSSSS)

Hiker Mike is love, Hiker Mike is life.

I was only 15 years old.

I loved Hiker Mike so much, I bought 10 of the 4 Slizers required to make him, only to make him over and over again.

I prayed to Hiker Mike every night.

Hiker Mike is love, Hiker Mike is life.

Guys, let's remember the fact that Bonkles are coming back and get done with this Hiker Mike already.

I tried to get the Bionicle Heroes quite while ago and people noted that even legal copies didn't work. I really would've like to play it again but at this point it seems kinda impossible. With the heavy marketing next year could there be a change for an actual console/PC game or has Lego said something about not doing those anymore for non system themes (It's kinda strange since there haven't been a big budget Ninjago one yet, only some DS games)?

PM me if you find out where they're being sold :P

Hopefully PC; a Bionicle MMORPG is what I need more than anything.

I will legit abandon LoTRO and SW:TOR immediately if we get something like that.

I don't wanna abandon W101 and P101 but I'll certainly get a subscription. XD

That's a good subject of question, though - say we do get an online Bionicle game; what format would it be? Obviously it would be aimed towards kids, so probably something similar to Lego Universe (D'X) - that is, if it's a MMOG. It could be an FPS, but that seems unlikely. Browser-based, such as Transformers: Universe or AQ, could be possible - something like Legends of Chima Online, or Flash games like MNOG. Hopefully it has good graphics, though 2D wouldn't necessarily be bad.

Certainly something to speculate about.

*cries uncontrollably at mention of LU* I think it should follow that sort of format. The character designs can be done like the Hero Recon Team (except you only get one weapon, and its appearance doesn't affect its stats) then you can equip armor, masks and weapons you get throughout the game. The game can update as the story updates.

That's right, I almost forgot about the Hero Factory games! Anyways, yeah, character creation like that would be good - but there probably wouldn't be as much customization. You could choose between different species, e.g. Matoran, Toa - there may even be a choice to be on the villain's side (depending on the villains we get - if they're just spiders, that may not be an option :P).

Yes, story updates would make sense - isn't that what the MNOG did originally? Unlock different regions to explore each month?

I doubt Lego would let us pick the villain's side. I also don't think we'll get to pick a species, I just think we'll get to pick our color and CCBS shells (and maybe some accessories or starter Kanohi/weapons, unless we're assigned those after character creation like in Pokemon).

Yeah, that'd basically be it.

If there are payment methods, maybe you could buy the "Toa ability".. IDK. Getting to a certain level and being able to become a Toa would be a cool feature - I have a feeling, though, that we'd all just be Matoran.

I figured we'd start as Matoran and at one point in the story get a Toa Stone and become a Toa. The game would probably be non-canon (unless it's a Hero Agori case, except that there's no definitive canon appearance, just canon actions via the storyline of the game).

That'd be sweet - I'd imagine it would take awhile, though.
