That'd be interesting. LoTRO has things like that, where you can learn Vocations (farming, woodworking, etc.) - the problem is, features like that may be too advanced for younger children.

It could always be rated E+10 while a simpler free MNOG-style game is for children under 10.

What stats do you think there'd be? I think there'd be HP, physical power, physical defense, elemental power, elemental defense and if it had real-time combat that involved running around, maybe stamina or a sort of mana that elemental attacks need to work, meaning that when the mana runs out you can only use your weapon.

Sorry, thought this was pertaining to the topic (a possible Bionicle MMO for 2015).

It is... I don't know why it can't be an official discussion if there's only two people talking about it.

It isn't, because this topic is for discussion of what Lego may/will officially release next year, not a game that only exists in your imaginations.

Lego may officially release an online game next year.

They could be making a continuation. They could be making a reboot. They could be the same Toa Mata. They could Legacy Characters. The Defenders/Guardians could be Matoran. They could be Agori. They could be something new. They could be working with the Toa. THey could be opposing both Toa and Spiders to guard their masks. They could have the same Arthron lookalike mask. They could have unique ones. Lewa's element could be jungle now.

This thread is nothing but speculation and wild mass guessing.

Well, you can always look at past models and see if those would have any impact in determining what happens in the future. BIONICLE stuck mainly to flash-based adventure games (leaning toward tower defense types at the tail-end), whereas Hero Factory has always done free-to-play horde shooters. It's hard to imagine LEGO changing things up too drastically from their current methods, since those types of games are cheap and easy to make with a decent promise on return investment.

I'd imagine that any online games would be Hero Factory style Flash/Unity shooters.

LEGO Universe was a huge undertaking - more than most people might think. It actually had been in progress, in one form or another, since the very first MMOs, all the way back to 1999. Technology was still coming together, though, and the project didn't really start to gain traction until around 2005. Around then, they reached out to a few select members of the much smaller AFOL community, and what would become the very first concepts began to take murky shape.

At first it was mostly people sitting around in a room, building anything they wanted to with tubs of bricks. Slowly, the core ideas of Pirates, Knights, Builders(to some extent), and Ninjas/Witches began to emerge.

It wasn't until around beta that the story even really began to be finalized. Up till then, they were constantly re-writing it, and even then, minor continuity changes kept happening until release(and after!).

Granted, real "construction" on the game probably lasted only six years or so, so one could argue that there's a chance that Bionicle might have a game of the same size. But, in order to have done that for a 2015 release, they would have had to start work back in 2009 immediately after Bionicle was cancelled*.

There's a chance it could be a game in the vein of Minifigures Online, but the top-down view doesn't really work for Bionicle. Bionicle and constraction figures in general are much more of a first/third-person view style environment, and any other just doesn't quite work.

So, the chances of there be a Unity Hero Factory style game? Quite high. A Bionicle LU? Not quite so much.

*The timing is hard to calculate exactly. The point is, even with Happy Flower* already programmed, it's a huge undertaking, and the cancellation pretty much rules it out.

**Happy Flower is the legendary program that was used to create LU. Every LU recreater that knows their stuff dreams about just being able to see it once.

I am honestly shocked that LEGO hasn't tried making a voxel style game ala Minecraft. Given their clout they could easily outcompete Minecraft in both marketing and game design, though I suppose the latter isn't too hard. =P

I suppose there is something to be said for not stepping on the toes of your business partners, though I couldn't feel too bad if they did.

Now I think that BIONICLE 2015 is my most anticipated theme (I love reboots), along with TECHNIC, Ninjago, Creator and maybe something new. Also could we see its website with symbols?

P.S: It is a bit off-topic! :P

Lego may officially release an online game next year.

But what game they might release is not what's being discussed by Toa of Gallifrey and Jakura Nuva.

This thread is nothing but speculation and wild mass guessing.

No, most of it's been discussion of probably authentic images of official sets.

Might it be a good idea to create a separate "What would you like to see in a 2015 Bionicle game?" topic, guys?

I do agree with Kohran - the majority of the speculation here is based around the leaks, while the game ideas that you're talking about (vocations, mana, etc.) are just being thought up (which isn't to say they're impossible, just that they're not based on any evidence).
