Keep in mind that even if the new story DOES use Artakha or the Mask of Creation, there's no reason the writers or designers would be obligated to keep that mask's appearance faithful to a vague description given in the storyline. Karzahni was originally described as black and gold, and look what happened to him.

In any case, though, this mask could be anything at this point, and if the new BIONICLE is in fact a reboot then searching old story snippets for clues isn't necessarily going to tell us anything, because it might have no relation to the old story whatsoever.

Secure or not, Lego's servers are still their property, and to go sifting through them and making their contents publically viewable without permission is in my view an act of intrusion.

Re: this and all your other posts:

While this may be an act of intrusion "in your view", you are wrong. This is not the equivalent of breaking into someone's house and stealing a confidential document. This is the equivalent of looking over at their yard from the street and seeing a rare butterfly perched on a rosebush in the front lawn. The image is publically accessible (despite not being linked from the main site yet). This didn't involve any sort of hacking or illegal activity, someone just guessed the URL based on the other Lego.com theme images, and their guess was correct. The image was not leaked by a third party who was not legally permitted to share it, it was added to the site by a Lego employee (likely because they were supposed to do so as part of their job). This is no different from the Shop at Home accidental confirmation from when the site redirected Bionicle queries to a "coming soon" page. So while you are free to act all high-and-mighty about ethics, the fact is that if anyone else shared this to BZPower it could not be justifiably removed because it does not violate any rules in any way, shape, or form, and as such BZPower itself sharing it is simply cutting out the middleman.

Just to clear things up, leaked images are generally images that are either stamped "confidential" or have clearly come from a retailer catalogue- such as the images we saw earlier. This image comes directly from Lego.com's servers, and is fair game unless we are asked to take the photo down. (This is Eurobricks policy but I would assume BZP follows a similar suit)

You can now also view it on our frontpage, credit was given to BZP- great job snagging the URL and thanks Gata for noting it here.

In other news, I've finally changed the title of this topic! :oh:

So... should we abandon this thread?

This thread continues to be for 2015 discussion.

Oh, I thought you made a new topic instead of changing name of this one... which would have been kinda stupid.

I can remember seeing a comment on DA that Lego would celebrate Bionicle's anniversary by lobbing a Kanohi out of the window for the fandom to squabble over. THe thing that finally gives us official confirmation? A Kanohi. The result? Squabbling.

I didn't enter LEGO's server any more than any random visitor. No hacking or anything of the sorts involved, just educated guessing of the address. The image is an official image from LEGO on their servers, so it's allowed on BZPower - as Black Six has confirmed.

I'm going to say that's a bit of a fallacious argument; just because they have the information stored doesn't mean they were willing/ready for release of it. Look at what happened with the "coming soon" page. To say that it's okay just because they're following some site protocol is pretty classic victim blaming, albeit very mild.

On the flip side, I doubt that this has impacted them in any significant manner; I see nothing but hype, at the moment!

(also I doubt we'll see Artakha. I prefer him that way, anyway; some characters are better left to the imagination)

They know the fandom well.

Anyway if they're preparing the website, an official reveal is likely coming soon anyway, I doubt they remotely mind us knowing this.

So, does it mean that it will be likely a continuation or reboot?

No. It does not really support or discredit either possibility. Honestly, the only thing it really tells us is how we can expect the masks to look in the new BIONICLE. And of course that this particular mask is probably something special or significant.

I can't believe I'm looking at a topic titled "Bionicle". The hype is real. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

This. We'd be lucky if a Artakha set is even sand green (though it's probably a bit more feasible with the CCBS).

I think this is a new mask, but I can't think of which power it might have. What could be on par with Time, Life and Creation?

(also I doubt we'll see Artakha. I prefer him that way, anyway; some characters are better left to the imagination)
I don't know. A titanic eccentric inventor with a gorgeous mask and a warhammer as a weapon sounds really cool to me. I'm just not a fan of characters without a set form I guess.

And good thing you posted that Aanchir. Just look at all those details on the face and the crown, beautiful! Also, the shine effect goes over the mouth area too, so no mouth hole it seems. Looks like the sets in the leaked image are really really preliminary.

Anniversary of what? Roodaka's boobies?

Would it really need to be on par with those to be important, though? For all we know it might be a "Mask of Unity" that the Toa need in order to become Toa Kaita. Or a "Mask of Liberation" that frees people who have been mind-controlled by the Skull Spiders. Or a "Mask of Dominion" that would grant either the good guys or the bad guys power over their homeland, kind of like the Crystal Heart from My Little Pony Friendship is Magic. There are countless ways to create a reason for the good guys and bad guys to want a mask without focusing on one-upping the most powerful masks of the original BIONICLE storyline.

This is a joyous day! Still no idea if the NYCC reveal is at all related, but we have a good few weeks of circular speculating until then.

Edit: Nuts, mobile, catch up why dontcha.

The image isn't 'in the front lawn' (ie, in plain sight) because it isn't visible or linked to on the main site.

I haven't accused anyone of doing anything illegal.

That's pretty much what I was getting at initially. Just because the image is technically reachable doesn't mean Lego want it to be seen.

But the image is out now anyhow, so there's little point in continuing this further.

What about a Mask of Death?

An image of the mask without the electricity if anyone wants it.

Nice! How did you get that? Were you able to extract the different layers of the picture with Photoshop?

Also, Sir Kohran, please don't misunderstand me, I really understand your concerns and it's noble that you worry so much about LEGO, but I really think this isn't doing them any harm - if I did, I wouldn't have posted it.

The animated SWF contained each layer individually. He likely used something like JPEXS to decompile it.

Ah, I see. Good thinking. I guess finding the animation was actually more valuable than I thought.
