Robert8 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Now that BIONICLE is coming back, I wonder if they will have a role in The Lego Movie 2. I hope so! Quote
TheBrickPal Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) I kind of doubt it. BIONICLE got a small cameo in The LEGO Movie, which I think was enough. Some big current themes like Chima, Hero Factory, or Friends didn't even have any screen time. I think it would distract us from the normal minifigure stars (and MetalBeard, who was made for the film). That would be cool, though! You never know. But anyway, this is exciting news all around. If anyone had any doubts before, hopefully now they are fully on board the hype train. I'm wondering, though; is that really the Kanohi Mask of Creation? I know it wasn't described exactly like that appearance in the old canon, but if this is a reboot I would expect it to be an important enough mask to include on the product page image. Therefore, it could be a new Mask of Creation, or something as important as the Ignika. However, it's definitely not the mask present on that leaked display from a month or so ago. Really, it could be anything. However, as TTV said in their video, if this IS the mask from the display, both it and all of the sets we've seen must have changed a lot in the prototype stage. I am curious to see... Geek thoughts over. Edited September 8, 2014 by Puffle Pal26 Quote
m0dulo Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) to go sifting through them and making their contents publically viewable without permission is in my view an act of intrusion. If anyone can load a specific file from a webserver, that file is world-readable aka publicly-viewable. Edited September 8, 2014 by m0dulo Quote
WARHEAD Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Really hope the mask belongs to the big bad and that its power is some form of mass mind control to fit the whole kingly theme. Would be kinda cool the wielder was golden too, to depart from the tradition of all the main villains being dark. Maybe a tyrant in opulent shiny armor, sitting atop a throne, letting his brainwashed lackeys handle all the dirty work and not sullying himself. Now I'm just rambling. Partly influenced by King Knight's theme playing in the background Edited September 8, 2014 by WARHEAD Quote
Dorek Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Interesting how BIONICLE can turn into a debate on digital civil rights =P. Obviously there's nothing illegal in finding or disseminating the image, but that in itself is far from a tacit admission on LEGO's part about wanting the image out there. Regardless, it's out there now, and they'll have to deal with that. Also I say it looks like Vultraz's mask so this is totally The Melding alternate universe where he was kidnapped except now he killed all the Great Beings and is now the ruler of Spherus Magna. Had one hell of a nostalgia trip getting it. The good old days, neh? We miss you bro. Come back to us. Forever. Edited September 8, 2014 by Dorek Quote
TheGreatSpirit Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 -snip- So where were you when 2, far more revealing pictures, not stored online by lego, were leaked illegally by a packaging designer? Quote

Sir Kohran Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 So where were you when 2, far more revealing pictures, not stored online by lego, were leaked illegally by a packaging designer? If the leaking was illegal and that person violated an agreement or contract, then it hardly needs to be said that it was also immoral. Yes, it's benefited the Bionicle community, but that's not a justification in itself (especially given that we would've seen the sets anyway when the official reveal occurred). Quote
Chimaninja454 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Heh, does it necessarily be a reboot? Quote

Partly influenced by King Knight's theme playing in the background Personally I think dark villains make perfect sense, and designing the theme's imagery to be counterintuitive just for the sake of novelty would probably be a poor business decision. But of course it's entirely possible for a villain can be dark-looking AND use gold extensively. Just look at the OverLord in the Battle for Ninjago City set. In this case, gold still carries its traditional meaning of ancient and mystical power, but by offsetting it with a lot of black, red, and purple (along with skeletal motifs), the evilness of the figure that wields that power is still unambiguous. Heh, does it necessarily be a reboot? No, but it seems quite likely in my opinion. A continuation could possibly work, but it would carry a great risk in exchange for a meager reward. Quote
TheBrickPal Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Heh, does it necessarily be a reboot? We really have no proof yet. I'm hoping for a continuation, personally. Even though I know the younger children this is intended for won't understand it without going through almost a decade of storyline. Quote
CM4Sci Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Does anyone else think it's odd that it was JUST BIONICLE that showed was found today? -Sci Quote
Chimaninja454 Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Is the BIONICLE logo redesigned? Quote
Vahkiti Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Is the BIONICLE logo redesigned? I've noticed a consistent through the different leaks that it does seem to use a different variant of the Trajan Pro font. Either that, or it's just bold and slightly squashed. Either way, it has been changed ever so slightly, yes. Quote
Gatanui Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Does anyone else think it's odd that it was JUST BIONICLE that showed was found today? -Sci Personally, I think this hints at a BIONICLE teaser site being revealed after or at the same time as a reveal at NYCC (assuming of course the NYCC reveal is indeed about BIONICLE) - which would probably explain why there don't seem to be the corresponding images for other new themes for next year, as those wouldn't get such site so early. -Gata Quote

The Mixels site was (surprisingly) revealed a day or two after they were shown at SDCC. -Sci Quote

CM4Sci Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Possibly the first alphabetically? Is there anything else that comes before it? Uh.. nope. I can't think of any new themes for 2015 but Speed Champions, Elves, Pirates, and.. I think that's it. -Sci Quote
Takanuinuva Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 All this confirmation but still no decent quality pictures. Didn't we get the confidential stamp 2014 Hero factory pics around this time? They were better quality than the color display. Quote
Sir Walter Maugham Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Wow, HUGE redesign on that mask. I like them both but this one looks much better. The change is so dramatic, it has me wondering how much the sets themselves will change. Piston aesthetic on the shells? More subtle gold accents on the Toa's armor? Man, I can't wait for the official reveal. Or just leaks of the finalized designs. Quote
Zenerius Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Even if you do lego.com/bionicle it redirects to the products page. Quote
Lind Whisperer Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) A continuation could possibly work, but it would carry a great risk in exchange for a meager reward. Interesting. I'd say that it causes the exact same problems for a reboot, if not more so(risking alienating the fans who really want to see the story continued). I do not have very many of the original sets, but if it's a continuation, all sets are a must buy. If it's just a reboot...collect one or two that I like the parts of, and take them apart. toatali Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 Wow. Just wow. This is so exciting! I'm getting really nostalgic for the old days of speculating over blurry images, until BZP posts something clear and exciting. Whoop. Quote
Gatanui Posted September 8, 2014 Posted September 8, 2014 (edited) Even if you do lego.com/bionicle it redirects to the products page. I do think it always did that, though, so that doesn't have to mean anything (not that at this point we needed the confirmation from that anyway). Interestingly, lego.com/supercar redirects to the products page as well while another random string like lego.com/blub doesn't. -Gata Edited September 8, 2014 by Gatanui Quote
