Clone 01354 Productions Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 ^Well of course they shouldn't repeat it. We need a fresh, new story, with new twists and new adventures. Maybe they can make us think that they are living in a big robot, then reveal that it is really an island...... And there is 0 chance that Onua will be female: look at those shoulders! Quote

Timeline15 Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) soo... a golden giant is going to rise from underneath the Kini Nui and wear it on its head? I'm game for that Regarding obscure elements, I would love to see them, as I've recently read a Bionicle fanfic that convinced me that they can be done well. The only one I'm still unsure about is Plasma. How do you differentiate it from Fire? Edited September 11, 2014 by Timeline15 Quote
Logan McOwen Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 (edited) Well I see Lewa's mask somewhat reminiscent as the original Miru: Something like this [snip] That is a brilliant design, and seams very plausible! And yes, the gender topic... Does that really have to keep reoccurring? Edited September 11, 2014 by LewiMOC Quote

The only one I'm still unsure about is Plasma. How do you differentiate it from Fire? I would rather they stick to the main six and only go for the more special, unique elements, like light or shadow. I think the whole concept of having so many 'side-story' elements was something that added to Bionicle's original convoluted story. I've been a fan since the get-go, but I've never really followed the books or online serials. I'm sure there are many long term fans like me who aren't as hardcore and dedicated to the overarching storyline that know little to zilch about the elements differing from the original six. Like I said, I think Lego would try to keep it simple. I mean, come on. That they ended Bionicle because it was too convoluted and the very fact that they are bringing it back means they've learned from their mistakes. At least, I hope they do, and stick to a more compact story. On the topic of elements, I think (and hope!) that they try to keep it as it is. I'm pretty sure there's a reason why they stuck with the six basic elements for so long (for all of Bionicle's original run sans Bara Magna, in fact) and why we don't see a new element of ninja being added to the Ninjago roster every year. The only one I'm still unsure about is Plasma. How do you differentiate it from Fire? I might be wrong, but I see Fire as being more versatile, while Plasma is more powerful. Also, Plasma is way hotter and melts stuff, while Fire is more about burning. Finally, Fire elementals control heat as well, which is something I don't think Plasma wielders can do. I think sneaking in one or two non-main Elements could work. The problem is that some worked (Light, Shadow, Plasma, Lightning, The Green, Iron), while others I just can't take as real elements (Gravity... Magnetism.. Sonics.. but most of all freaking Psionics). I think some secondary elements could have worked as part of the 6 elements (unlockable by experienced Toa, perhaps): Lightning is actually made of Plasma, so both could be part of the Fire element (fire is a plasma, according to some articles I've read). The Green and Iron could've been part of a Earth Toa's domain. But that would've probably been too complex and made Fire and Earth Toa overpowered compared to the others. Especially in a line where Water/Ice and Stone/Sand/Earth are treated as separate elements, even though they really aren't. But I'll stop, I've already discussed this before and I don't want to sound repetitive. Quote
Jasonified Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I have so many questions! Do you think the Protectors/Defenders will be Good or Bad? How much do you think mask packs will be and how many masks per bag? If there are any that is... Personally, I think the Defenders/Protectors will be neutral. As for Mask Packs, I'm not sure. On a side note, does anyone think Pohatu's mask looks like a Hordika mask? Quote
Lord-Vorahk Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 We actually discussed the elements earlier in the topic, where I used some experience from my friend's D&D Bionicle game to show a Toa of Plasma. Of course, the standard core is the same: The Toa, Arcan to name-drop him, can create, control, and absorb Plasma. His secondary powers, however, are where it gets interesting. He has an increased resistance to fire and electricity, and he shrugs off heat-based attacks easily because his energy burns hotter than most other things and a cold wind won't lower his temperature enough to slow him. His first really unique power came at level 3, where he learned the ability to create gaseous orbs of superheated plasma, around the size of himself. WHile at first, I thought this ability was a bit useless, but it actually proved quite useful, both as a buffer to drop into a doorway with a Dark Hunter on the other side so that the party could regroup before he tried to kill us, and as a trap to make a team-mate's gravity powers more dangerous (He knows attract/repel, so he h spends most battles screwing with gravity to send the mooks crashing into solid objects, walls, ceilings, and each other. Very useful in that it not only stops several of them from attacking, but also frequently leaves them prone to being hacked up). Maybe it's just because I like elements like Plasma, Gravity, and Psionics, due to being more fun to mess around with, but I think dropping the elements back down to the original eight again would stifle creativity. I get that some of the extra ones are a tad weak, like Plant Life being a power nerf to Earth, but I think having these things as separate elements prevents any of them from becoming too overpowered. PLus, it means we can get characters that aren't just the same six elements again. I get the sense that the Element status of their powers gradually became the artefact, as more non-elemental abilities showed up, but let's not forget that the original six, even among themselves, have two extras which are just more solid versions of two other elements. If we wanted to take the element thing wholly literally, then we'd have four powers, and that would be it. Quote

Frozen Assasin Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 When I read about all the commotion surrounding reboot/not reboot and etc. I just realized. Does anyone of you still remember the failed "Bionicle:The Album" that didn't come out in 2002 ? Would it not be nice to see something like this to come out next year (or the year after) ? Just Imagine,...Rob Zombie writing a song about Bionicle; Would that not be cool ? Quote

Maybe we'll get lucky and Bionicle will have some kind of popular media that merits an album. Or they could just release the music in the Downloads section of the Bionicle website. They used to do that, if I recall. Quote

Aanchir Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Ninjago's getting a CD release of the TV soundtrack. Maybe we'll get lucky and Bionicle will have some kind of popular media that merits an album. Or they could just release the music in the Downloads section of the Bionicle website. They used to do that, if I recall. Honestly, I'm not sure if they'd do that anymore. Other than The Fold releasing the Ninjago theme song "The Weekend Whip" to sites like The Brothers Brick when the theme began, the promotional songs for themes like LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Legends of Chima have been actually sold through services like iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon.com rather than just given away for free on the LEGO site. Then again, LEGO Friends promotional songs have been free downloads on the website (which really needs better organization for its downloads section). So it's not like the LEGO Group has quit doing free music downloads entirely. Anyway, while BIONICLE: The Album SOUNDED like a cool concept, I honestly don't know how much I'd have liked it. I barely knew any of the artists who were supposed to be involved, and there's no telling whether I'd have really liked the songs anyway, or whether they'd have been a good fit for the BIONICLE brand (though I'm probably overstating things a bit, since I tend to be fairly open-minded about music and often care more about the lyrics than the genre). I do hope the new BIONICLE has a significant musical presence, though, and hopefully one that can be kept as consistent as Ninjago's has been for the most part. More than anything else, I want BIONICLE's new soundtrack to be very closely connected with the blend of ideas and genres that makes the franchise so unique. And ideally, I want any promotional songs to have a clear lyrical connection to the brand and story. If you can't tell that it was BIONICLE that inspired them, then I won't be able to enjoy them as BIONICLE music any more than "Move Along" from the Toa Inika ads or "Crashed" in the American Toa Mahri ads. Frozen Assasin Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Maybe it won't be as hard-core as it was in the original concept, but more similar to Freetheband.com songs with Paramore,Cryoshell and other similar artists contributing. Quote
Jakura Nuva Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Does anyone think the Skull Spiders may have a jumping ability rather like the IFB jumpers? They're made of a different build, of course, so it's unlikely. (Also, first post. Been following this thread for a while though.) No. From what I can see, they're utilizing HF 3.0 claws for legs (though there is some variety in leg type, IOW new parts). Lewa's Miru also looks like a Onua's Kanohi.... Agreed - though I see some Miru in it. Maybe it was just a placeholder image? I have so many questions! Do you think the Protectors/Defenders will be Good or Bad? How much do you think mask packs will be and how many masks per bag? If there are any that is... I'm convinced the Protectors will be antagonists. Whether they're evil or not, I'm not sure - but there's no way you can convince me that the only enemies for wave one will be teeny spiders. Hopefully there will be mask packs - maybe similar to the 02 (or was it 03?) ones that included some Kanohi and some Krana-Kal (only in this case, Kanohi and spider "skulls") soo... a golden giant is going to rise from underneath the Kini Nui and wear it on its head? Quisoves Pugnat Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Hero Factory has shown us that Lego is willing to make constraction figures with metallic-grey coloring (Iron, mayhaps?) Orange and white coloring (Plasma, canonically,) gunmetal grey and orange (Iron comes to mind, again, as does magnetism,) and yellow (new color for lightning?) So I think that there is a real possibility that we will see secondary-elemental characters. I doubt that LEGO would actually market a set with the powers of psionics (no physical powers with which to fight, probably a downside in the eyes of much of the target audience,) but Sonics, Gravity, Magnetism, Electricity/Lightning, and Plasma were all used for the Bohrok-Kal, so LEGO might well be willing to employ them again, should they decide to venture outside the traditional Bionicle color-scheme. Plant-Life and Iron also seem like good bets. I don't see LEGO being so traditionalist as to cease being adventuresome with the color-schemes. Sure, they'll stick to the originals for the first wave, but once they introduce new Toa, I won't be surprised if we get a Toa of Plasma Quote

Lord-Vorahk Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 Fire burns, plasma melts. And different colors. Whether something melts or burns depends on the object. Rocks melt, so does ice, so does steel, just from fire, if the fire is hot enough. Quote
