Part of me kinda hopes that the defenders actually all have the same mask, just so we could have a mask in a wide range of colours again, to help make the masks feel less character specific, (not that I have the problem where I can only ever see one character if I use a certain mask, I just really like recolours).

I love recolors too. It is just so great to have a Miru in green, and purple, and blue, and every other color. At the very least, all of the Matoran should've shared the same mask.

Yeah, It hurts when you want to make a Matoran of air, and you can only use Matau, Lewa, and Kongu for their masks. I want a green Hau, I want a blue Miru, I want a black Akaku, I want every mask in every color!!

Just to address two points about Toa:

Thinking about it, why did they make Lewa the core of a Kaita anyway?

Given that this primarily comes down to which mask was chosen for the Kaita, I think bright green stands out a little more than white or blue. Plus the Miru looks more similar to Akamai's Hau than the other two masks, so the two Kaita look more consistent with each other.

It doesn't make much sense from a storyline perspective though, as Wairuha represents wisdom and that isn't something Lewa or Air types in general are particularly associated with.

Okay, I get that Lewa's a bit unsuited to a leadership role... but so is Kopaka. Guy's constantly suggesting splitups in the comics and such. OKay, I get that "Let's split up and do our own thing, even though we get our megablocks kicked every time we try that" is a hobby for the Mata/Nuva, but Kopaka's the worst at it.

Kopaka may lack enthusiasm for teamwork, but he does generally seem more calculating and in control than Lewa. Kopaka incapacitated a Muaka and even three Rahkshi by himself, whereas Lewa was taken control of by an infected mask and then a Krana. Whilst neither are ideal leaders, I think Kopaka would do a slightly better job.

I think the new packaging will be canisters, since that's what most people remember as the packaging Bionicles come in.

I have been in a lengthy debate with somebody on BZPower who is convinced that orange and black "clash" and that any set using them together in equal measure clearly has no thought put into its color scheme. No joke.

We all want mask packs, but I doubt we'll see them coming back. The budget for that would be insane.

That said, I kinda hope the Defenders have the same mask, because that means options.

(although they totally'd need a gold version too!)

Most old fans, but I doubt the new generation would make the immediate association. I'm down for canisters, but obviously the bags have been fantastic in terms of both usability and storage capability.

But hey, maybe we'll get something entirely new that nobody has mentioned.

That was merely speculation; our source heard something about "dispensers" and we were speculating as to what that could possibly mean, if anything at all. :P

I think the reason Lego changed to bags was to save money on plastic - I doubt they'd go back to canisters

So anyway: 37 days until the reveal! I cannot wait. And it will be during this time, October 9-11, that my computer will break apart, and I will be left in the dark.....

But have there been any more hints at what it may be; any new themes that may suit the reveal? (Other than Jurassic World).

I still have no clue as to WTH Gali's weapon is.

October 9th, unless we get leaks sooner than that. Seeing Bionicle 2015 unveiled(if its what's going to be at ComicCon) will make one hell of a birthday Present. *giggles with excitement* But September is dragging by. HURRY UP AND GO AWAY SEPTEMBER! We want our bonkle unveiling!

The speculation behind what themes it could be is Bionicle(top contender even amongst Non-constraction fans), Top Gear, Elves, and Jurassic World. My money is on JW if it's not Bionicle. its a big enough deal since it's a new IP tied into a movie meaning lots of money on both party's sides involved.

Gali's weapon might be my favorite, and out of all the figures I actually think she might be an improvement over the original set. She is carrying a staff designed like a double-bladed scythe: essentially a giant pickaxe. I think this is a HUGE improvement over ther hooks, which were really just useless one-fingered Onua claws.

Alll the new weapons that are staff-like: Kopaka's, Lewa's, and Gali's really make the sets look wise and powerful.

As well, Gali's original mask is pretty bland if you ignore the transparency, whereas this new mask has more defined outline, and looks almost as if it has been redesigned to look a little more feminine. I'm hoping she does have some short of goggle design on her eyes, but I'm thinking she may have separate sockets which could be evidence for the sets using brain attack heads as they lack eyes that could be seen under a single-goggle mask.

The mask is also reminiscist of Gali Nuva's movie mask, just as Tahu's as well as Kopaka's mask outlines look a bit like their Nuva Kanohi. Maybe they're trying to make the sets familiar to fans who started in 02-03? While I'm not sure I like the Hau losing its distinctive outline, I didn't know it was possible to make a cooler Akaku but they might have pulled it off.

As for Gali's weapon,I can't make out what that's supposed to be. Perhaps a trident. Also, the Blue on her looks very light. Could she be using entirely the trans blue from stormer and frost beast?

I've got a Toa of Psionics with a Kakama, the classic golden masks go pretty well with pearl gold. You cold also just use a blue mask, or the STars Hau, or ue glassic gold and a Kualsi.

it's been a while since I posted here, I am amazed by how much this thread progressed with every little detail we got about Bionicle's return

I been checking the large colored version of the leaked picture. so looked the masks the Toa have. and just little ago I came up with this

(they're from a piece im working on, so they're stylized). I noticed a thing that all masks seem to have in common (except for Onua's and Kopaka's, since they're just too blurry to see).

So, they all seem to have those "earpad" things on the side of their masks, it could be merely a design choice. but they are quite prominent on Tahu, and lewa and Gali. it could be that the new kanohi are attached from there.

Also the tiny spiders on every set seem to have moveable pieces. so im thinking. rather than being solid pieces of plastic. like the brains and the small kaijus from HF, what if these skull spiders actually use the new Bionicle head as their base or something like that?

cant wait to see if NYCC has anything to show
