Dorek Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I can dig it. Love how none of them have backgrounds yet =P. The hexagonal packaging interests me, though... perhaps something collapsible, but not quite plastic bags? Quote
King of Nynrah Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 People are missing the real question here - is the "Skull Krata" associated with Krana or Kraata? D: Quote
Timeline15 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) I'm still none the wiser as to the heads. Air defender's looks like a solid blue one, but all the other defenders' look to have grey ones, but coloured eyes. Other than that, immensely impressed with these. Hope skull Kraata keeps his technic legs, I missed out on the 2001 rahi. I think the packaging may just be a blocky cgi of the HF bags. But does Pohatu have one fewer piece than his protector? That can't be right. And skull Kraata has more pieces than the titans. What is going on here? oh, and onua seems to have gears on his back, but his limbs are clearly normal CCBS limbs. my head hurts Edited September 14, 2014 by Timeline15 Quote
VBBN Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Uhm. Oh dear. I can't stop bursting into laughter everytime I look at the absolutely ridiculous lower legs on Kopaka. Quote
Dorek Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Uhm. Oh dear. I can't stop bursting into laughter everytime I look at the absolutely ridiculous lower legs on Kopaka. I know, right? Like... damn. No wonder he looks so chubby. Quote
Lord-Vorahk Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 White/Gold and Black/Gold a re pretty good colour schemes. Gold's a good colour for a set in that it goes well with basically everything else. In other news, those Toa are beautiful. And the Protectors are going to fuel by need for a 2015-style Jaller. Arthrons for everyone! Actually, speaking of Jaller and Arthrons, crazy random theory: The Protectors will represent the Matoran forms of the Mahri in the story, with remodeled versions of the Mahri masks to set them apart from the Toa. The Arthron, Jaller's mask, is just the only one with a complete CGI model yet. Ignika looks like a slightly modified version of the original render, so it'll probably be replaced with King Vultraz. The Toa are a thing of beauty. Getting Tahu and Lewa for sure. Quote
Toa of Gallifrey Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) I like Kopaka's lower legs, solves one of my problems with CCBS (gappy backs). They could use some work, though. It was probably said before but I'm pretty sure the Skull Spiders are gonna function as Krana. It also confirms that the masks will attack from the front (it was likely but this is proper confirmation). Edited September 14, 2014 by Toa of Gallifrey Quote
Kalhiki Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Uhm. Oh dear. I can't stop bursting into laughter everytime I look at the absolutely ridiculous lower legs on Kopaka. I actually kinda like 'em. Quote
Jetrax99 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) Oh man. I love 'em. And as to the jungle bit, the thought never occurred to anyone that it may refer to the Jungle tribe and not an element? Same goes for the others. There's definitely a lot going on in the torsos of Tahu, Kopaka and Onua. Onua actually seems to have a couple Hordika necks in his. Edited September 14, 2014 by Jetrax99 Quote
Timeline15 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 If we really are on spherus magna, its a possibility I guess... Quote
Toa of Gallifrey Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Ooh, I didn't think that Lewa could identify himself with the Jungle tribe of Spherus Magna. Earth and Stone tribes would probably have been founded to replace the Sand and Rock tribes. Quote
Kalhiki Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Anyone see the gears on Onua's back? I smell a function. And what the heck is going on with the Fire Protector's arms? Quote
Jetrax99 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Oh no. I think functions are back. NOOOOOOOOO! Great. Now I need to find a way to circumvent them. I hate functions. Quote
Grima Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I noticed two yellow wheels on Onua's back, what might be one on Pohatu's back, and a technic assembly on almost all of the Toa, at the shoulders. Looks like we might be in for some gear functions. Quote
EVO97 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 None of the Toa with the preliminary backgrounds seem to have the extra golden mask. Is it possible that they were omitted from the final sets? Quote

There is an Earth Tribe on Spherus Magna, though we never got to see it in story because it was on Bota Magna. Maybe it will come into play somehow, now that Spherus Magna has been reformed and all. Grima Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 None of the Toa with the preliminary backgrounds seem to have the extra golden mask. Is it possible that they were omitted from the final sets? These images look even rougher than the images in the wobbler. I'd say it's a safe bet the wobbler pictures are closer to the final packaging, at least as far as art and things like the masks. Quote
Timeline15 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) but what would the functions be? The limbs are clearly free moving CCBS pieces only attached by a ball joint..... These images look even rougher than the images in the wobbler. I'd say it's a safe bet the wobbler pictures are closer to the final packaging, at least as far as art and things like the masks. This. Which is why the Ignika will almost certainly be replaced by the king Vultraz/breez mask Edited September 14, 2014 by Timeline15 Quote
Dorek Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) None of the Toa with the preliminary backgrounds seem to have the extra golden mask. Is it possible that they were omitted from the final sets? Unlikely, since they are still present on Lewa, who would otherwise be considered an arbitrary choice (Tahu would get a pass, obviously). It's just part of the background design they didn't include for whatever reason. They'll be there. (also, still intrigued by the packaging... is collapsible canisters really too much to hope for?) but what would the functions be? The limbs are clearly free moving CCBS pieces only attached by a ball joint..... People would have said that about Bruizer =P. Regardless, you could attach a ball joint to an axle to simulate both effects; it's pretty easy, actually. Edited September 14, 2014 by Dorek Quote
The Kumquat Alchemist Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 (edited) Anyone see the gears on Onua's back? I smell a function. And what the heck is going on with the Fire Protector's arms? It looks like the silver chest armor is attached to what would be the usual arm connection point, with the arms being connected by these parts. Grima Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 but what would the functions be? The limbs are clearly free moving CCBS pieces only attached by a ball joint..... Yes, but ball joints have more friction than ever in CCBS; a swinging arm function isn't out of the question, merely less convenient. I hope the functions aren't free-swinging. The EVO XL Machine, for all its flaws, did well in having a mostly stable gear function that only moved when you wanted it to. Quote
Kalhiki Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 It looks like the silver chest armor is attached to what would be the usual arm connection point, with the arms being connected by these parts. I'm more talking about the apparent lack of elbows. Quote
EdWebhead Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I'm thinking the packaging might be similar to this year's Chima Speedorz packaging. Cardboard with the hook so it can be hanged in stores. Quote
Grima Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I'm more talking about the apparent lack of elbows. The Ice Protector doesn't have them either. I'm assuming it's because they both pack a lot of pieces in other areas and had to cut corners somewhere. Quote
