Which means nothing here, as these images are far from the final packaging.

I suppose, but it still seems highly unlikely to me that this would be a Kraata.

I don't think "Krata" means this is a Kraata. Even if it is the final name, I should think they would have caught a misspelling like that if they truly mean the same Kraata. I can't think of any typos that made it into the final products before, and there's no point in changing the spelling.

The protector's boxes also say "Protecter of [element here]" on the sides, which is quite the blunder, but again these are prototypes so that doesn't mean nought.

Not all of them... only the ones of the Rahkshi outside the robot at that time

Uh... how does the inclusion of the Ignika (which is still in the story and doing great) and Kraata (ditto) hint towards a reboot?

Sorry, I mean to write continuation. Updated the post!

Back on topic... I really like the direction of the masks. They really pay homage to the original 2001 Kanohi designs.

Considering these seem even further back in the design cycle than the standee image, and that mask was shown recently to have been super-redesigned to the new crown-style mask, I'd not pay the Ignika and heed. It's probably there to establish the BIONICLE idea to retailers during preliminary design-work. I'd expect it to be replaces with the new mask we've seen recently in finalized images.

Still 100% certain, personally, that we're getting a hard reboot.

The actual word is Protector, I believe.

Also I'm not sure what to make of the obelisk in the background of Lewa's package art, but it sure looks cool.

I think you're right, Deevee. At the very least, I hope you are.

Seriously, it would not be a lot of work to 'shop some shimmery shiny magic energy around a front-view render of the Ignika. So it's not as much of an indication that the story will revolve around it as people are suggesting. Meanwhile, we've seen a brand new mask that will seemingly be the face of the franchise on Lego.com—one that doesn't represent any of the ones in sets...

I just had a second, closer look - as mentioned already in this thread, the smaller Toa have some sort of gear function in their arms (which should hopefully be easy to remove, given that it's the CCBS) while the larger Toa have something on their backs which suggest some other form of function.

Here we go:

1) The Defenders all look incredible; glad to see they all share a Kanohi!

2) Stone Defender looks like he has trans-yellow, but at least he has brown!

3) Water Defender has trans blue. YAY!

4) Love the purple on the Earth Defender, but I HATE his weapon.

5) Ice Defender is pretty plain.

6) Fire Defender is nice, but boring.

Now, the Toa:

1) Lewa, Master of JUNGLE? Well, that's okay, since I love his Kanohi!!

2) Love Pohatu's Kanohi, but still no tan. : (

3) I love Gali's Kanohi, and her color.

4) Tahu. Looks. INCREDIBLE!!

5) kopaka is.....Terrible. he's a mess.

6) I hate Onua. SO much!!!

7) LOSS: HATE HIM!!! The goofy print, the lame build......but that mask is sweet.

Overall, Lego is getting me to buy all of the Toa, and likely every defender.

I can't help but facepalm at the people In the comments section of the TTV vid still complaining about HF parts, or even calling these worse than HF for some reason. -_-

Also, I should probably sleep now. I've managed to stay up till 2am watching this thread XD

I can't see anything that distinguishes the backs of Kopaka and Tahu from the smaller three, though their backs are hard to see. They have some back armor, but otherwise I'd put my money on them having more or less the same function.

Since Onua has two wheels on his back, I'd assume his arms both swing, independently of each other. An odd decision since he only has one hammer, but at least his arm swinging doesn't seem to be interdependent.

Protecter

Ah, I hadn't noticed that. I thought you were referring to the fact that they didn't have proper character names, only titles. My mistake.

I can't quite tell what color Onua's upper leg bone is. It looks too purple to be grey, too grey to be purple, too dark to be lavender, and too solid to be translucent. It's a conundrum.

Honestly, the blend of Technic/CCBS here is what excites me the most; it IS clearly BIONICLE, but incredibly new and interesting at the same time.

Which implies that "Krata" might not be accurate either, but it's really too early to tell.

I stopped going to the TTV forums, mostly for the same reason, but also because generally the discussions there suck.

*the difference between EB and TTV*

EB-*well thought out informed discussion by avid builders and fans*

TTV-HYPE-HYPE HYPE HYPY HYPE TRAIN WOOOOHOOOOOOO* and a lot of nonsense discussion based on nothing really. Even the admins aren't really adding much or moderating the discussion thread. Its such a shame such a beautifully executed site is full of morons. Thanks VBBN and everyone else for making this the best thread to discuss Bionicle 2015. :)

The fact that his face is printing on a torso plate to begin with makes it hard to take him seriously anyway.

If they don't fix his look, I'm forever going to refer to LOSS as "Mr Boobface"

I just noticed that on Onua, good eye! I actually prefer that, to be honest. I hated the way the Toa Metru's arms swung in opposite directions. If we are to get gear functions back, I'd rather the arms swing independently.

Oh, also, the Defenders all have different builds, which is nice. For example, the Earth Defender has the Rapid Shooter in his torso. Weird......

I love that about the Protector of Earth, actually. He's easily my favourite Protector. I really like how Lego made the effort to distinguish the way all the Protectors wield their shooters.

Also, has anyone taken these images and tried to clean the stamp up just a bit? I know it can't be removed, but maybe made a little clearer? What source is everyone looking at? Just wanna make sure I'm viewing the same one's as everyone else.

I doubt "Krata" is anything to do with the Kraata. The latter were slugs, and also burnt to cinders by the Golden Armour in Journey's End.

The latter point is moot in a reboot, but the former is more or less my thinking. It doesn't make sense to take the term "Kraata" and slap it to something almost completely different and intend it to be the same thing.

Yeah, I quite like TTV but the people on the boards are just... interesting. It seems to be a place where all the Genwunners have flocked to.
