I stopped going to the TTV forums, mostly for the same reason, but also because generally the discussions there suck.

*the difference between EB and TTV*

EB-*well thought out informed discussion by avid builders and fans*

TTV-HYPE-HYPE HYPE HYPY HYPE TRAIN WOOOOHOOOOOOO* and a lot of nonsense discussion based on nothing really. Even the admins aren't really adding much or moderating the discussion thread. Its such a shame such a beautifully executed site is full of morons. Thanks VBBN and everyone else for making this the best thread to discuss Bionicle 2015. :)

Well, to be fair, our message boards are mainly a place for people to discuss our content with Lego discussion acting as a secondary focus. Our primary audience is people who are used to interacting via YouTube comments and discussion isn't exactly handled the best via that format. I predict that once everyone becomes accustomed to our forums and BIONICLE is actually released, the general flow of discussion will improve dramatically. :P

(Thank you for the feedback, though; we acknowledge we do have a bit of a spam problem, lol)

ALSO, another comment about the pictures - I'm really interested in the background of Lewa's packaging. The mechanical spires littering the enviroment look veeery interesting to me.

Yeah, I quite like TTV but the people on the boards are just... interesting. It seems to be a place where all the Genwunners have flocked to.

It's the opposite. It's the place where people not used to discussion boards and the established story, lore, and canon discussions have happened. It's the Youtube side of the fanbase. Hence the YT style comments in the message board setting. It's... odd.

Honestly, the blend of Technic/CCBS here is what excites me the most; it IS clearly BIONICLE, but incredibly new and interesting at the same time.

Same.

You are not wrong. How do we best fix that? Getting rid of the clutter is one thing, but how do we legitimately get good discussion going, and how do we attract people who bring good discussion?

Oh, man this the BEST thing to see after work.

Still geeking out over some of the other theme stuff as well, but I'll try to give my best...

Firstly, I love the Protectors. The mask design is basically Jaller Mahri's but more slick and a hundred percent awesome. I'm liking the variants with the water and fire ones, too. Nice touch.

The builds are simple, but the parts are going to be worth it, I think. The Skull Spiders are all that I asked for and more. Skulltula, anyone? It looks like they have perhaps a button on the forehead/abdomen. Light up eyes?

Lord of Skull "Krata" is less impressive as of now, but I'm optimistic that final pictures will swing me around on that. His image gives us a wonderful look at the skull mask and it's details.

And the toa.... Let me just atart out by saying that that golden Hau in Tahu's art made me like ten levels of happy. Kopaka's mask never needed improvement and I'm glad it didn't change much. Pohatu's Kakama looks like it should, and I love it. Lewa's is good, but looks nothing like Miru, and Gali's looks awful so far. But then I never was too big on classic Kaukau.

And Onua's Pakari... looks like it might be very brutish and heaby-browed. Not liking that.

All of the builds look great, and most will be a day-one purchase for me. SO glad I hung on to my old collection. My masks will see use again!

Everyone in the TTV video's comments seems to have an idea that the fact there aren't many new pieces means that Bionicle 2015 will be irredeemable garbage. And they casually ignore the huge "PRELIMINARY" in the photo. While I realise that they easily could remain the same when they ship next year, I have my doubts that they will because the CGI looks quite rough and most of the boxes lack backdrops, It could be that these are slightly older than the Shelf Display.

I'm sorry I don't get that reference. What's a Genwunner? :P

Keeping on topic(sorta) I SO wish Lego did preorders. I'd plop down my money right now. I'm definitely saving a paycheck to get these in one gulp. Even if Pohatu looks like a turd, and Kopaka looks just terrible(cept for his mask that's epic and I love it), and lets not forget Mr.Boobface. I'm still getting em all. I want to support the theme and vote with my wallet. So for the first time ever(and because for a change I can) I'm gonna buy the whole wave in one order. It must be nice for you guys who do that regularly. Must be like your own personal little christmas. XD

Not unless it's a feature of the heads themselves; there's no possible way for the skull spiders piece to have glowing eyes itself because it doesn't have eyes, not even in the little skull spiders in the sets.

If it does work as a button, my only guess as to what it could possibly to is that pressing it pushes it off of the face if it's put there, as a play feature like the original masks had. That would require a weak face connection, though, and I'm pretty sure the days of those are over.

The CGI is a little rough, but I'd say it's pretty likely these are pretty much final. The more finalized images on the wobbler are exactly the same save changes to the skull spiders, and their package art is pretty much final. That's not to say I'm certain there won't be changes, but I highly doubt it.

Also, not all of the CGI is rough enough to seem very flexible; Lewa, Tahu, and Protector of Fire have final-quality package art, save for the skull spiders and top banner, which look kind of slapped on.

This is not the place to discuss the state of TTV, guys...

Anyway, I just noticed another thing: The Protector of Stone has one more piece than Pohatu! I'm hoping/assuming this is because these are just preliminary images. Gali and Lewa, both at Pohatu's price point, have 80+ pieces, while Pohatu is shown to only have 65.

Genwunner is a term originating in the Transformers fandom, referring to people who swear by the original ("Gen 1") toys and cartoon and decry everything that came afterwards as garbage. It's applicable to other fandoms, too, like Pokémon or Bionicle. In any of those cases it refers to people who are so blinded by nostalgia that they're unwilling to accept new developments in their favored franchises.

Lego doesn't do preorders, but that shouldn't be a problem—we'll be some of the first to know when these become available, so no need to worry about stores running out before you get a chance at them or anything.

A Genwunner is a fan who loves the early days of a franchise, and thinks everything after it is irredeemable dreck. THe term started out in Transformers fandom, as "Geewun!", since the classic Transformers lines are called G1. "Genwunner" as a name comes more from the Pokemon fandom, where Red and Blue are the objects of worship.

We need a more Bionicle-flavoured version, I think.

Guys, the TTV hate train is limited to the YouTube comments, their website is unaffected. Youtube is always filled with haters.

ANYWAY

I really like the look of these sets, but I hope the final design changes (which it probably will)

Sorry about that

Yeah, I think pohatu's piece count is either wrong, or that the Stone Protector's weapon has many pieces to it.

A lot of prelims have wrong piece counts. Notable example is NINJAGO's Jungle Trap. Listed as 440 (roughly, forgot the exact number) pieces. I'd advise you look it up, there's no way it possibly has the amount of pieces listed

For Bionicle it'd have to be "oh-wunners" - those people who think, somehow, that anything past the original Mata was garbage.

Surprised you like EB so much considering you've been banned - what, twice? >.>

(Not saying I disagree or that you're wrong - I like EB too. Just legitimately surprised over that.)

Oh I see. Thanks for that. Definitely seems like the mentality there. Pitiful. Oh well I'm happy to get new more detailed more "bionicley" looking parts in my CCBS. I like mixtures. peanut butter cups are my favorite, I like having a little chocolate in my peanut butter. And in this case I want Bionicle mixed in with my HF. Going just off the new parts designs and looks, this is exactly what I've been wanting for a while. Something that works like HF, but visually looks more in depth and textured like bionicle. I am one happy chappy based on the new parts and recolors we're getting. <3

I know, but I'd still love to be able to pay my money, and the day they're available they get shipped to my door step and I don't have to worry about it, just fire and forget, like video game preorders. Also, my buddy does preorders all the time and a lot of times he ends up getting his order as early as a full week before the item comes out. Which I think is cool. I think Lego should seriously considered doing some kind of preorder beta. Its pretty much guaranteed money that they could also use as preliminary sales. They could offer it only to VIP members and run it on a limited basis for the FOLs out there who'd bother with a preorder of lego in the first place. It works for both the video game, movie, and comic book/collectable industry, why not lego?

That would make sense. Pohatu does seem a little underwhelming compared to his $15 price point counterparts, though. I do hope he comes with tan shells.

Also: I just realized that Tahu and Kopaka's lavaboard/shield pieces are extremely reminiscent of Lhikan's Fire Greatswords! Those were hands down my favourite weapons in Bionicle's original run. Plus the fact that we're getting a gold Hau with Tahu... I'm tempted to get a second Tahu to MOC a CCBS Lhikan!

That would be really cool. Just add in some dark red from Pyrox and the new Chima sets...

I'm gonna start using this term. There are a strangely large amount of these people out there - the same kind of people who are pining for a reboot, I think.

Almost all the Ninjago sets have their piece counts set as 442 for some reason, which is odd. However, the Bionicle sets all have different piece counts listed (Pohatu's is only shared by the Water Protector), which suggests these are probably their actual piece counts, or at least were at some point in their design. I suppose it's possible Pohatu alone had an error, but not probable. It seems a bit small, but remember that the Protectors have their piece counts inflated by the ammunition for their weapons.

There's still the possibility it's an error, but it's also not as improbable as you might think that it's his final count.
