snikttrooper Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 aw come on are you saying you don't want any more masterpieces like this? I brained my damage. Quote
Kalhiki Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Here's a mockup for Lewa, using my gearbox system : *awesome Lewa mockup* It's a bit wobbly, but works like a charm and can hold any position thanks to the friction pins. There's more here. How's the shoulder articulation? It seems it would lose some inward movement with the gears in the way. Quote
Jasonified Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 aw come on are you saying you don't want any more masterpieces like this? No, I'm talking about abominations like this (though the visorak costume is horrendous, too) Quote
Mutant Orc Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 That is the stuff of nightmares,. Quote

Vinyl Scratch Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 At least Hakann's costume makes sense. Who the heck thought that it was a good idea to have a costume of a spider set? Quote
Aanchir Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Honestly, it might be a lot easier to make a good-looking BIONICLE costume based on sets that use the CCBS than based on sets that were characterized by having a preposterous amount of detail. Look at this costumed character from SDCC 2011. Obviously, some parts of that are out-of-proportion, and it's a much higher-budget costume than the ones you see available for sale around Halloween, but I think even using just a few parts of that costume — the chest plate and the armor on the lower legs and arms — would result in a more cohesive look than some of those BIONICLE costumes. Of course, I don't expect to see any BIONICLE costumes available for retail sale, since there haven't been any officially licensed Ninjago costumes, and Legends of Chima costumes have been limited to a handful of accessories like swords, hoodies, and capes. Seems like the LEGO Group doesn't really want to invest in that kind of licensing agreement anymore. Quote
Grima Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 ...that oddly did absolutely nothing to convince me that potential future Bionicle costumes wouldn't look horrible. Quote
Shakar Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Here's a mockup for Lewa, using my gearbox system : It's a bit wobbly, but works like a charm and can hold any position thanks to the friction pins. There's more here. Looks like the gearbox idea isn't that bad afterall... and wow, I forgot how cool the earth green/lime/silver combo looks. I do hope we get more "Metru colours" sets in the future- HF used them very rarely, mostly for villains, I'd like to see things mixed up a bit (sorta like 2009). aw come on are you saying you don't want any more masterpieces like this? How could I forget the marvelous rohtookah shield? Quote
Leewan Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 How's the shoulder articulation? It seems it would lose some inward movement with the gears in the way. It looses inward movement, but it's more beacause of the balljoints of the torso than the gears. The lime armor often hits the balljoint, which can lead to awkward poses if you want to use the mechanism properly. Quote
arc Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Here's a mockup for Lewa, using my gearbox system : *snip* maybe it's just the way the prelim pic is taken for lewa, but his color scheme looks so much cleaner here. I realize it's not all the same colors, but I think I actually like this version better. Quote
Timeline15 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 aw come on are you saying you don't want any more masterpieces like this? That looks like an incredibly low budget Kamen rider........ I love it. Quote
Kamen Rider Kiva Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 (edited) That looks like an incredibly low budget Kamen rider........ I love it. Toa of Gallifrey Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 I kinda like the Hakann costume, at least the chestplate and lower legs are there. XD I remember making a Jaller Inika costume for Halloween 2009. Made the chestplate and limbs out of cardboard and they worked well, but the Calix. Oh God, that Calix. Quote
Lord-Vorahk Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 If we're getting gears, then hopefully we can get a torso beam without the shoulder-joints inbuilt in later waves, so the arms aren't hindered. Might save on plastic in the long run, though... I've also refined my tastes on gears a bit. I think a set that looks like it has gears can be great, because it carries the mechanical look without sacrificing other parts. Same with gears that can be locked, or are stiffer like these will hopefully be. Quote

Chimaninja454 Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Should I worry about HF leaving and BIONICLE being rebooted? I kinda liked the original (2001-2010) BIONICLE! :P Quote
TwistLaw Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 As far as costumes are concerned, I don't think it's a matter of construction, rather than of budget. We all remember the Tahu Nuva costumes back in 2003 in order to promote MoL, and personally I've always found them really awesome. A CCBS-based custome may have the same problems of the older costumes: look at BIO 2015, the parts are already more complicated than in all of HF. Quote

I kinda liked the original (2001-2010) BIONICLE! :P I don't see why you should be worried, if you like bionicle, great! There's plenty of room on the hype train, why not jump on?Although we don't know for sure whether it's being rebooted or continued, there's good arguments for both. Quote
Mesonak Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Okay yeah, that one is pretty cool. :P Quote
TwistLaw Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 What about this one? Further proof that money makes costumes awesome :D Quote
Leewan Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 Oh wow thats a smooth moc, Did try to figure out where gali shoulder armor would be place? Thanks man ! Unfortunately, I have no idea about Gali (I'm not Sherlock Holmes, and I don't have any super powers, not yet ). Her arms seem to be very low, even lower than the torso's shoulder balljoints, so I'd say the armors are somehow attached to the gearbox module, but I'm absolutely not sure. It's far easier to guess for Kopaka (BTW, it's nice to have a confirmation for the mechanism, because I saw very soon that his shoulder armors were directly attached to the torso, but I couldn't see where the arms were attached).
