Nekchir Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I think one of the reasons why peeps thought HF would run along side Bionicle, was because of the whole mini fig/constraction combo they are doing this year. They thought it was good enough to be its own new genre. Quote
Dorek Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 And did anyone really believe that HF could exist alongside Bionicle? That had zero chance of happening. It's not impossible, especially if they continued with the mini-scale type sets; it serves a similar niche but with a different appeal. Plus, LEGO generally has another constraction line of some type, even if it's not concurrent. I think that Lego had this all planned: Bionicle gets bad? Replace it with a much more underwhelming and less engaging line, that still has sales because it rides on Bionicle's popularity for a while. Then bring it back five years later to make triple the sales. That's a completely preposterous business idea. Hero Factory was designed to be episodic and target a younger demographic because sales for BIONICLE had slumped. Now sales for Hero Factory have (presumably) taken a downward turn because a line only has so much staying power; BIONICLE was an outlier for a lot of reasons, and they're probably looking to recapture some of the same magic that drove it in the first place. Whether or not is pans out for them remains to be seen. Quote
Timeline15 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 We need a fluorescent Takanuva. It would look so epic next to the other Toa, and I would no doubt buy multiples for the extra shells........hint hint, Lego. Can we have a Takanuva with all the shells the colour of the "active" avohkii that can with him in 2003 pweeaasse?? Quote
Logan McOwen Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) Although slightly off topic, I found this lovely infographic by one of the designers of the CCBS. EDIT: Here's a lil preview of it for those too sheepish to click the link. Edited September 22, 2014 by LewiMOC Quote
Kingslayer Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 What would funmetal actually look like? Quote
Shakar Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 If it's no more than four primary colors then I'm with that. Luckily no Toa is using more than 4 colours (not counting the eyes colours and those annoying yellow bits on the weapons). They all use 3 (primary, secondary, armour), save for Gali: luckily titanium metallic/silver and azure/tr. light blue are similar enough so her colour scheme still looks pretty clean. Lewa might or might not use titanium metallic, I hope he doesn't otherwise his colour organization would be a mess. Can we have a Takanuva with all the shells the colour of the "active" avohkii that can with him in 2003 pweeaasse?? Oh, I'd LOVE that. Shame they never did that thing again. I don't even think it was that costly to produce, was it? It was just clear plastic with some glitter. Doubt they'd make a Takanuva complely like that, but at least a new Avokhii in that style, and possibly the "accent" shells (I mean the secondary colour, like Lewa's yellow). Although slightly off topic, I found this lovely infographic by one of the designers of the CCBS. EDIT: Here's a lil preview of it for those too sheepish to click the link. I think it was Aanchir who found the link to this one and other pics a while ago and posted it on the HF 2014 thread (the quickest-to-die HF thread ever ). It really clears up any doubt one might have one the CCBS.What would funmetal actually look like? It's like gunmetal, but a lot shinier and with glitter mixed with plastic. Quote
Logan McOwen Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I hope it looks like this Oh hey look, it's that forced meme again. Quote
Jasonified Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) Oh hey look, it's that forced meme again. I wish people would keep the omega tahu/hype jokes to themselves. The TTV boards are worse, which is a real shame because there's an awesome community there.. Anyway, I think the skull spiders might be a Rahi hivemind controlled by the main villain. I just can't see LOSS being the almighty villain.. Edited September 22, 2014 by Jasonified Quote
Mandate Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 It's not really LOSS anymore, it's Skull Krata/whatever the weird name is. If it's Skull Krata, then I'd say it's going to be a case of "buy multiple of the set because this is going to appear as a massive army!", it wouldn't be the first time LEGO has done this. I mean, all you need to do is look at year 1 and 2 of NINJAGO, or see the story explanation for multiple Meca-1s in EXO-FORCE. If the name is still LOSS, then I doubt he's the the head of the Skull Spiders, despite the name. Given that it's practically confirmed that this is a continuation now, I'd assume there's going to be some Titan-sized villain. Quote

You got to remember nearly all of the rahi, 2/6 of the Stars, Skralls, Vorox, Zesk, Skirmix etc. There are plenty of examples in Bionicle too. If this is continuation and Velika is on the summer wave what vould he look? A Great Being in a more menacing form? He could even take a body of someone already deceased... like Artakha. Quote

Sorry, I'm not entirely caught up on the original plot. I know more about the second-final year than I do about the first year, and even then 3/4 of the ones you mentioned I have no clue as to what they are (only familiar one is Skrall) EDIT: Someone's probably mentioned this already, but on the image for Tahu you can make out part of the "backpack". The piece in particular is similar too another part that is way too large to fit back there, so at least some of the sets are going to have a special backpack piece. Kalhiki Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 But guys, I don't think Takanuva is returning. This is likely a reboot, so they'll just give us some other guy that is just based off of him, but not him. He would be named Avunakat or something. Then how do you explain Tahu, Lewa, and everyone else? Sure they're the main cast, but other characters can easily be brought back and not have a name change. Just because it's a reboot doesn't mean we need name changes. If Takanuva was fluorescent, what color would he be? There's not many fluorescent parts that really scream "light powers". If fluorescent yellow wasn't discontinued, I'd say that. Personally, I think fluorescent blue could work, and I don't think they've made shells in that color either (yay recolors!). Quote

Aanchir Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Apologies, but fluorescent? As in glow in the dark, or sparkly/reflective? As in "glows under a UV light". All of the Toa Mata eye colors but Onua's were fluorescent. Quote
Gatanui Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Apologies, but fluorescent? As in glow in the dark That's called phosphorescent. -Gata Quote
Refy L.S. Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 That's called phosphorescent. -Gata Technically yeah, but the Lego colors are officially called "fluorescent". Also with the talk of trans takanuva - I think we would be likely to see trans yellow elements. I think white and gold shells with trans yellow bones would look cool, and make him feel like a real being of light. Quote
Kingslayer Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 I wonder what colour scheme Takanuva would have seeing as kopaka has stolen his. Unless the golden armour is unique to this wave and Taka Nuva would supposedly come in to it later. Also if there is no Nuva and Takanuva still comes in, would he even still be called Takanuva or Just Toa Takua? Quote
Nekchir Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 How about just plain, see-thru bones? We originally were supposed to get those in the old Bionicle anyways. Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) Although slightly off topic, I found this lovely infographic by one of the designers of the CCBS. That is quite elegant. Cool concept art in his other graphics too. At least two in the "side projects" have gotta be lego (no question, far right) and bionicle, and the "Super Heroes" one is bumming me out that we never got to the release of a Wolverine figure. mysteriouspi Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 (edited) There's a new post by the LEGO Bionicle Facebook. Confirms NYCC will definitely have a Bionicle information dump. And we'll get a bit more information this Friday. Edited September 22, 2014 by mysteriouspi Quote

GK733 Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 And the wait begins again... any guesses to what we can expect THIS Friday? I would prefer a little bit of a story, afterall the sets come first and the selling point is better to introduce at NYCC. Quote
Dorek Posted September 22, 2014 Posted September 22, 2014 Five bucks says it'll be the website, which is only a splash page anyway. Quote
