Grima Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Yes, and there are two identical cracks in the rock on either side of the mask. They used a repeating rock texture. That's why. Quote
GK733 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 No, that's clearly Makuta's finger poking through the wall, and he's going to emerge bit by bit until release day when he'll burst through like Kool-Aid Man. It's just a repeating tile "bg-tile-jpg". http://cache.lego.com/r/www/r/bionicle/content/project/bg-tile.jpg?l.r=1410958100000 check the right side for the "keyhole". Quote

TwistLaw Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Economic cost and carbon footprint are not remotely the same thing. Canisters are wasteful and damaging to the environment, full stop. If LEGO discovers a way to reduce the carbon footprint of high-quality injection-molded plastic, they'll do that for their actual bricks long before they think about doing it for packaging. Chill out mate, I was just meaning cheaper in an ecological meaning :D Quote
Grima Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Chill out mate, I was just meaning cheaper in an ecological meaning :D ...that's really not an applicable use of the word "cheaper". Quote
TwistLaw Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 ...that's really not an applicable use of the word "cheaper". mmh really? "Cheaper for nature" doesn't make any sense? Quote
Shakar Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Nature pays for our mistakes, not with money...but with pain. : ( Lewa, Master of Environmentalism main character for 2015. Quote

WARHEAD Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Cans are a waste of plastic and part budget. Glad to see them gone Quote
arc Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I liked the canisters, they looked great and allowed storage for the sets when not on display. But I guess the environment doesn't like them very much. So in that case, I'm fine with boxes. Quote
Kalhiki Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Holy crap, guys: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/+LEGO/albums/6063364990839183457 Quote
Toa of Gallifrey Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Definitely not what I was expecting, but really awesome nonetheless. I think one of the 3D models confirms this won't flip over other masks, and that the head will be a solid color (unless they just didn't bother to color it here). Quote
Aanchir Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 Concept art! That's pretty cool! I definitely think the finalized version is best, though. Quote
Chro Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 And here's the FB link if you prefer that over G+ Quote
Mattah12 Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 So a couple of things I've noticed: "Mask Macker" as titles on some of the sheets???? Ball joint head/necks. Don't know if these were part of HF as I didn't collect then. Quote
Shakar Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) ^ That is the same type of female joint the Glatorian and Brain Attack heads used. I kinda wish those huge horns stayed, but the final version is the best I think. So gorgeous. Easily my favorite Legendary mask of the three. Having one in hand is going to be a real treat ... Chro Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) Interesting to note that the neck socket is what looks like dark bley in the final concept image - artistic license, or the return of solid-colored heads? Edited September 26, 2014 by Chro Quote
Toa of Gallifrey Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) Maybe Kanohi (or Mask if they're trying to retcon terms like Kanohi, which is an impression I got from it saying Mask) Macker is its name? Upon seeing it I first thought it was a typo, then I thought it was weird but now I think it's really cool. Edited September 26, 2014 by Toa of Gallifrey Quote
Voxovan Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 There is something sticking out of the new head piece, could it be the new eye piece? It looks really similar to the eye/brain pieces introduced in 2004. Quote
Logan McOwen Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 There is something sticking out of the new head piece, could it be the new eye piece? It looks really similar to the eye/brain pieces introduced in 2004. Exactly what I was thinking. Me likey. Quote
Kalhiki Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I figured it was a typo for "Mask Maker". But I'm not going to look too deeply into that. I really like the one with two horns that make the big circular hole. Kinda sad that isn't the final version. Quote
AyliffeMakit Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) Wow, that was not what I was expecting at all, but its still really nice to see some of their previous concept ideas for the mask of creation (even if some of them look quite silly). Also, I wonder if they'll reveal something else next friday, or is this the last Bonkles preview until NYCC? EDIT: Is anyone else getting an error message when trying to get onto BZPower's forums? Edited September 26, 2014 by AyliffeMakit Quote
arc Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I think we are getting the side connections, but it doesn't look like it flips up. And also, solid colored heads! I really hope that stays to the final design. Quote
