Kalhiki Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) Oh hey, new pictures. -Gali looks loads better. The Kaukau has goggles! And I'm getting a very Scuba/Sub Slizer vibe from the chest printing for some reason. This is good. -Kopaka still looks fantastic. Love chunky legs on my robots so all is good. And gold Savage Planet paws for shoulder armor. That's cool. And I fail to see nipples. They aren't placed where nipples would be. Too high up and inward.... Wait, why am I talking about this? -Lewa. Probably my least favorite. Just doesn't seem very interesting. The Miru gained some weird segmentation on the face. Not sure how I like that. And that's not how you hold axes... Too close to the head. -LOSS: Finally we can drop Skull Krata! Anywho, looks great. I see a yellow gear on his lower right side. Definitely a function there. The face doesn't look too bad. I approve. -Pohatu! Looking awesome! I'm glad the first Toa I got in 01 is coming back as an amazing figure. Not much to say. The Kakama looks fantastic. -Tahu: I see he's adopted Stormer's giant chin. The Hau is bleh. I'm sure it'll grow on me eventually, but now... Eh. Otherwise, he still looks fairly good. -Other things: New legs on the Skull Spiders are sweet. Much more menacing than the old claws. And it looks like they'll have the angular packaging design. No more bags. Also, Kahliki, could we have some art of Tahu pigging out on cookies pwease? Taster to jungle may be too majestic to top, but it's worth a shot right?! I'll see what I can do... ;) Edited September 29, 2014 by Kalhiki Quote
Mesonak Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 I'll see what I can do... ;) Please do this. It would make Ven's week. :P Oh yeah, my thoughts. Sets are schway. I just spent two hours talking about them at length so I'm a little talked out. XD Quote
Xeros610 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) So, new pictures,um, the sets are fine, altough the hau looks...different, but let's see how it turns out Pohatu and Lewa are my favourites Pohatu just looks awesome, it's "boomerangs" seem to have some scissors-like actions, maybe it's just me...and the rahshki blade on his back I think it's an extra weapon, not just sticking, but stored with, I don't know, some pins?, aaand that Kakama.. Lewa looks great to me, but still, I don't quite like the yellowich orange on him, but, it doesn't bother me that much, also... all hail Ultron! Edited September 29, 2014 by Xeros610 Quote
Still Raindrop Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 -Gali looks loads better. The Kaukau has goggles! And I'm getting a very Scuba/Sub Slizer vibe from the chest printing for some reason. This is good. I had the same thought regarding the chest printing--I think the splashes of yellow are a part of that, although the design itself seems reminiscent of Scuba/Sub's faceprint. Scuba was one of my favorite Throwbots aesthetically (along with Amazon), so this (along with the new Kaukau, which I really like) might make Gali my favorite new Toa. Quote
Refy L.S. Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 Now that I look at it again, Pohatu's kakama reminds me a lot of the ones the matoran wore in MoL. Quote
InfurnallDragon Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) Idk if it was in the older images, but this new one of the LOSS has the turaga elbow pieces locking its legs together if you look at *his* left side. This would support the theory of a grabbing function more than a walking function. I still like idea that he would launch the smaller spiders, but if he doesnt come with a full spider then there isnt much of a point. I dont see LEGO making someone buy another set just to use the one set's function. I think these sets look really cool for a first wave. I can't wait to see what they come up with as the years go on. In the TTV site in the Greg Farshtey possibly slipping on hard reboot, someone mentioned BIONICLE had alternate universes. So if this is another alternate universe the set I really want to see, is a store exclusive Dimension Traveler Vezon as a shoutout to his travels and the other reality. Edit:And if it doesnt happen I will want to MoC him from only CCBS pieces. Edited September 29, 2014 by InfurnallDragon Quote
TheDesuComplex Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (It's so great to finally have my account back. Thanks gmail spam filters!) It's totally awesome that Bionicle is coming back! These G2 sets are looking very good, and I have to say it was worth the five-year pause. Looking at LOSS, I've noticed that the front legs are connected directly to the middle legs. I don't think that bodes well for the idea of having a Pewkii-like crawling function (which I was hoping for). Idk if it was in the odler images, but this new one of the LOSS has the turaga elbow pieces locking its legs together if you look at *his* left side. This would support the theory of a grabbing function more than a walking function. bacem Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 looking at the picture, here's my tought. 1) where's onua? 2) i kinda see the nipples on kopaka, but i didn't think of it as nipples. 3) i'm starting to think that the price list we got is either not true, or it's really messed up. how come tahu priced as xl set, when he's only have 2 parts more than gali? and LOSS which have the highest parts count, have lower price point? 4) i see now that the gold mask there is a gold version of their respective mask. now i'm wondering, are those mask included in the set, or just part of the box illustration? 5) there's no MOCr mask in any of these sets... InfurnallDragon Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) Darn, ninja'd. Thanks for pointing out that typo in the first line ;). I think I also just noticed Gahli's eye color is behind her mask, a darker skull color is visible through her mask. Idk if its normal for CCBS or not but her skeleton has 2 ball joint things on the left side where something is supporting the shoulder armor above her arms. Lewa's image shows many skull spiders crawling around the jungle, but one of them has 6 legs. Its definitely possible that lords of skull spiders are a class of the "species" where they are overseers. So the LOSS is probably not a big bad. Edited September 29, 2014 by InfurnallDragon Quote
Aanchir Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 3) i'm starting to think that the price list we got is either not true, or it's really messed up. how come tahu priced as xl set, when he's only have 2 parts more than gali? and LOSS which have the highest parts count, have lower price point? Not all parts are created equal. Bulk Drill Machine had more parts than Splitter Beast, but was priced at $15 rather than $20, because a lot of those parts were tiny Technic and System parts that were inexpensive to produce and ship. Seems like a similar case here. Tahu has a lot of bigger parts, so even without having a lot MORE parts than the others he might not meet the same price point. Lord of Skull Spiders seems to have a lot of smaller parts, and thus a lower price point. I agree that Tahu has a disappointing piece count, but there's no reason to think the prices we've seen are not trustworthy. Quote

Are you referring to the fact that there's an extra ball in front of her shoulder? That's where the torso bone's actual shoulder is- her arms are connected through a gearbox. Quote
bacem Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 oh and looking at pohatu, i wonder if that round hole in the middle of his boomerang is just a mere decoration, or can fit technic pin? because if it is, those boomerang could be used as cool jetpack with wing. Quote

You can see on Gali that her feet are connected to the axe parts by the middle of the fans, so I would imagine the similar decoration on the boomerang fits it. To me it looks like it already has a pin inside of it, indicating that something is attached to the other side, like the propellers used by the Water Defender. Quote

You can see on pohatu theres a space between his box and his arm that doesnt have a point (behind his extra from the skeleton). It looks like the nut that closes the original Mata team's main gear axle. Gali seems to have a point where that is that supports her shoulders. It looks like the ball piece that an axle can go through that always reminded me of the original mata's heart thing on their chests. Edited September 29, 2014 by InfurnallDragon Quote

The Kumquat Alchemist Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) What an interesting development! Looking over all the Toa, I am disappointed that their chests use printing, but that is a small detractor. Gali looks great! She and Pohatu might be my favorite Toa so far. Her mask, though far different from the 2001 Kaukau, feels like it has some personality to it; I can see myself learning to associate the new design with Gali. Tahu is a bit of a disappointment. His build isn't bad, but neither does it look very interesting. Also, the preliminary pictures made his mask look more similar to the 2001 Hau, something the final version doesn't have. Despite this letdown, the new Hau still has personality to it like the Kaukau, and I expect it to grow on me. Kopaka: Great mask, awful (but fixable) legs, mind-scarring printed chest. Certainly a must-buy, though no longer my favorite Toa. Lewa looks the same as he did in the preliminary pictures, as does Pohatu, which is good; I'm especially excited about Pohatu's trans-yellow bones. I don't think they look good on him, but they'll be great for MOCs. LOSS is still a bit derpy looking, but I hold hope for an interesting gear function, now that it's confirmed he has one. Loki Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 (edited) I'm not a huge fan of all the unnecessary little details a lot of the masks seem to have, especially the Kaukau. Like, all the ridges, indentations, little add ons here and there -- I actually preferred the simpler, smoother styles of the actual 2001 masks. These masks sort of make me think of... like, a cross between the 2001 masks and the Phantoka/Mistika ones with how they're stylized. Most of my disappointment, mask-wise, is in the new Miru and the new Kaukau, though. Kopaka's looks pretty nice, and I do like Pohatu's (although I'm going to miss his focus on kicking things), and I haven't seen Onua's yet so I can't say anything on that one. Kinda hoping that the new wave, one of them, brings back the idea of having Rahi as sets to some degree. Kinda missed that when it was done once and it wasn't really returned to. The level of silver in a few of them also puts me on the "eh" side, would've loved to see the chest pieces as their elemental coloration. Edited September 29, 2014 by Loki Quote

That's what's bugging me with the Miru, too. Its face is covered with all these unnecessary ridges and stuff when it could easily have been much smoother and more evocative of the original. The Kaukau bugs me becauseh it's squished, stretched, smashed, and barely even resembles the original at all. It'd be a nice mask... if I wasn't supposed to accept it as a Kaukau. Quote
