Logan McOwen Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) Don't mean to strike as too off-topic here, but I've been in communication with the lovely people at Bricklink, in regards to how the categorise CCBS parts - namely, the CCBS parts we'll see in Bionicle next year. This thread has more information. Edited October 8, 2014 by LewiMOC Quote
dviddy Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 NYCC officially begins Thursday, Friday is supposed to be the reveal. MAYBE they'll be setting up and we'll get a picture of a banner or something, but short of that, everybody should keep their pants on until Friday =P. Edit: I appear to be mistaken, Thursday night is when BZP says the special event is. So, Thursday night. The LEGO panel at NYCC is Thursday at 1PM. There is another event that night at a LEGO store in NYC. Both events are invite-only. Quote

Nekchir Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 There's another event at the Lego Store? What's it about? Quote
GK733 Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 There's another event at the Lego Store? What's it about? Maybe they give free Bionicle sets for the lucky ones to review etc. Quote
InfurnallDragon Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) Was also curious about that music... Perhaps it's a hint to new music for 2015! Anyone else get a MNOLG vibe from it? So it could be in a way similar to the Stone Army helmet from Ninjago... If they do that it's going to blur the lines between the plots too far for my taste. NINJAGO took some cues from BIONICLE (very few though, I know of only 3, one was debunked before it was revealed [thus it isn't a cue from BIONICLE other than the original notion] and the whole mostly-robotic-tiny-bit organic robot thing with Zane [not really organic at all, unless Julien was very specific in getting the look of Zane *shudder*] is getting changed next year) Guys, its not like LEGO has invented all of the tropes behind any of their IPs, or are the sole users of them. They can still have a unique storyline while doing similar things. It is inevitable that works of fiction will do something similar to eachother, it is up to the writer to make their work unique despite this inevitability. Also realize that not everyone follows all the LEGO themes with plots. Personally, ever since BIONICLE stopped I only checked in on what LEGO was doing in rare occasions. I only recently got interested in Hero Factory because I heard BIONICLE was coming back on one of my yearly google searches of "Bionicle 201[X]". Constraction and Lego's videogames were pretty much all they had for me when I got older. In example of writers overcoming similarities: Christian Faber's original design for the Toa, was that they would be soldiers that came in pill-like capsules to fight off a disease. What else had been in development for a while and got released in 2001? Despite that striking similarity of a major plot device, the creative minds behind BIONICLE still pulled off making an amazing and unique plot. TheBrickPal Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) This shouldn't come as much of a surprise, but somebody posted this in another topic, and I think it is more appropriate here! Hello. You are receiving this email as you have received an invitation to attend LEGO's Invite Only BIONICLE panel at New York Comic Con on Thursday, October 9th 2014. In addition to the BIONICLE Panel at New York Comic Con you have also been selected to attend an invite only after-hours event at the new LEGO Store Flatiron District from 7:00 - 8:30 pm. At the event you'll have a chance to meet members of the BIONICLE team, build with the new elements & see the models up close! Those who do not RSVP will not be allowed into the event. InfurnallDragon Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 (edited) Not to stir crud or anything again, but in lack of anything to talk about I found this on a listing for "Hahli" on ebay: Hahli's magical Mask of Detection and her superior sixth sense make her invaluable in the search for the Mask of Life. Her energized hydro harpoon can punch through even the thickest protodermis armor. Showing that LEGO did in fact describe her mask as magic too, while also making a comment on protodermis. This is of course just a description given to sellers and probably not canon-impacting, but it does show that LEGO's announcement was not the first use. I doubt that this was even the first use. In either case it could still not mean anything other than a means of selling it as the plot gets refined. It interests me that they do use plot jargon for this one though. Then again, from what I gathered in this forum, the red star was not the zombie space station at this time in plot writing. Of course if new BIONICLE is following a similar path but different, the sudden heavy sci-fi shift that apparently happened around this time might not even happen at all now; I doubt strongly that they would drop that all together though. Grima Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 oh wow. i hope they let the people at the LEGO store event take pictures of the new parts so we can accurately judge them. i'd love to have more angles of the masks and such. Quote
Toa of Gallifrey Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I hope they'll talk about whether what kind of music we'll have. Has Cryoshell done anything for Lego after Breakout? Quote
Nekchir Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 I'm getting more and more jealous of the people who get to go too the NYCC/Lego Store event--They get to 'mess' with the new sets and everything! Quote
Cheatster9000x Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Copypaste from a post over at BZP. Got half of my birthday present today: Bionicle comic: Saga of Takanuva. Tomorrow -should- see me with a custom toa of his design weilding an arthron, as well as a Bionicle keychain, and an Akaku. Tomorrow will be a good day. Consider. Me. HYPED. CHOO CHOO, NO BREAKS ON THIS TRAIN F---ERS. NEXT STOP NYCC NOW LET'S GO. Quote
Aethersprite Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 That's some interesting information! I do hope Lego allows photography, I'd really like to see how the gear system is going to work. Quote

Who uploaded the set info though? eBay is pretty untrustworthy. If this was Amazon, maybe I'd trust it, but if you're just going to say "a listing" and give us no information, not even a link or a screenshot, then there's no actual way we can tell if the Source isn't just another retailer making up garbage information, which is VERY common (especially if you ever watched an episode of On Ebay Today ) A seller using a certain description isn't indicative of anything final, and frankly I would say it's just a retailer making up some weird info just to make it sell. I don't know what reason there is to be so skeptical about a product description that's not remotely inaccurate or unrealistic... but if you need confirmation that it's legit, look no further than the actual products page on the 2006 BIONICLE website. I got my description off of Amazon in a doublecheck, but Aanchir clarifies it better. Sadly both iterations of Hahli are now collectors items... go figure... so I cannot get that awesome underwater valkyrie-looking mahri anymore. In line with what you said about eBay, the reason I even noticed Hahli's description and researched it further was because someone listed Insaniac from small soldiers as Hahli, which is in my thread that parodies Ebay Today.Ill use that magical wayback thing Aanchir used to check the other toa through the ages. Update: Ironically, "raw energy" is used to describe an element of Jaller's sword. Edited October 8, 2014 by InfurnallDragon Quote
Grima Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Apparently LEGO screwed up and accidentally posted these photos on Facebook early? they're gone now and this screencap is the only evidence of it I've seen but yeah here they are also I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure how Lewa's wing function is shown could only work if I was right about the lower arms. Well, plus the way the armor is on the arm is consistent with that arm build. Still not much of a good look at the gearbox, but if I had to guess at this point, I'd say it'll look something like a larger version of this piece. Quote

Kalhiki Posted October 8, 2014 Posted October 8, 2014 Ha! I knew it'd be possible to give Onua shovels! (well, I thought it could be modified, but seeing it official is better.) Seems they all have duel functions for their weapons. I bet Kopaka somehow gets skis (would explain the ski pole). Quote
