InfurnallDragon Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) I just noticed that these huge hi res pictures dash the hopes of individually controlled arm swinging gears. Oh well, I'm not big on gears anyway, I just hope that they're easy to lock into place. Not sure if this is compatible with what has already been guessed at for the boxes but I tried to draw this up in my onua discussion: What if Onua's gear box was large enough that there is an axle for each arm, and a gear on each axle that can slide back and forth from a gear between the two of them; that gear between the two being connected to the gear that we directly turn. That way, we could control which arm is able to swing by the function. A piece connecting 2 balls between them could hold the arms together, and with friction not hindering the function too severely. + gear = axle O Ball H double ball joint bone _____________+ _____________|| _____________+ ARM|O====+OHO====+O|ARM On left: gear is close enough to reach central gear; On right: Gear is too far to reach central gear. If anything this could be how I mod it later to make it changeable, or Id try something similar. Something close to this would allow us to change the function quickly without removing any parts. Having trouble imagining a double ball joint short enough for a gear to reach though. I've got some ideas for custom skulls that can bear axle masks on CCBS bodies that I will try tomorrow. Refy L.S. Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I'm loving these dual-function tools. Very nuva-esque. Anyway, I guess Pohatu can fly now? Or perhaps deliver a rocket-powered kick. Quote
SirPuddings Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Guys, it appears that lego.com/bionicle has gotten a minor update Quote
Shakar Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Oh sweet Mata Nui, Onua looks epic! I still disagree with making him that bulky, but it's the parts that count, and they're great! The Pakari looks a lot better now, the hammer half/shovel/shoulder armour piece looks great as usual, and I'm really liking the chest design (little to no gold, hooray). As for Earth Defender.. looks like we're yet again going to NOT get a purple mask, but I had no plans for it so I'm not that saddened (others are definitely going to be though).. also, this confirms once for all that all Defenders wear in fact the same mask, sporting a dual colour blended motif like some 2007-2009 masks. This is going to be a bit limiting from a MOCing standpoint, but the designs we've seen so far look pretty subtle (with the secondary colour only taking a small part on top of the mask). And of course, TRANS PURPLE BONES confirmed. Glad we're getting colourful forelimbs for once (which happen to be ridiculously rare). They're pretty short, but they're better than nothing, and hopefully we're going to get another size in Summer or in 2016. And they're really going for a Mata/Nuva hybrid on these: Lewa's function (btw, love how the Miru looks from the side, dat grin) was kinda to be expected, but Onua's and Pohatu's... wow, so odd yet so awesome. Dorek Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Guys, it appears that lego.com/bionicle has gotten a minor update Mmm, saw that. Shiny. Looks like they're definitely gearing up for the reveal. Quote
Gatanui Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Doesn't look like that to me. In fact, all it shows is the BIONICLE logo and the background, and nothing more. -Gata Quote
Shakar Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Just noticed that Onua's weapons have two handle bars at the end, that's nice! And from Earth Protector's hips, the Protectors are fully confirmed to use the XT4 torso (not that there was any doubt). I'm curious about his/her and Fire P's torso build.. seems like the chest shells attach to the arm balljoints while the arms attach to Hordika necks. Quote
GK733 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Doesn't look like that to me. In fact, all it shows is the BIONICLE logo and the background, and nothing more. -Gata Same here. Maybe they are just tweaking it right now? Quote
SirPuddings Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 That's odd, it's still got the updated look I talked about. Quote
Mandate Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Are you guys talking about the website revamp, or the animation I mentioned? The animation plays after a few seconds, if you're referring to the revamp... well, it's probably region-based. If you aren't on it already, switch to the US version. If you're already on it, not much I can do to help. Also, they had better not do the plot near-entirely iPhone app based like Ultra Agents with the games and things. It's infuriating enough that Ultra Agents did it, it leaves out a fair portion of people that don't have an Smartphone to install the apps on. Ugh. Quote
Gatanui Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) I'm on the US website and it neither looks like on the screenshot above nor is there an animation. Oddly though, the BIONICLE logo is aligned to the left. What kind of animation are you speaking of? EDIT: I've just tried with a US proxy server and I can now see what you see, so indeed it seems to be based on the region of your IP, rather than the region you have chosen on LEGO.com. Honestly I don't understand why LEGO would do something so stupid, hiding this from people outside the US for whatever reason. -Gata Edited October 9, 2014 by Gatanui Quote
SirPuddings Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Kind of odd that it's region based, I mean, I live in New Zealand and usually more things are region locked for us than Narnia. Quote
Jasonified Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Looking at Onua's Headpiece (not sure if this has been pointed out) That yellow brainstalk is awfully familiar. It seems to look exactly like a metru brainstalk... Quote
Shakar Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I hope we're getting actual yellow eyes this time around. I know, they don't glow very well, but I am so sick of tr. lime eyes (my hate probably started in 2008, I wonder why). Quote

And you'll be grateful it can't SMELL like me either (alright fine I'll stop making this joke), and stare at the the MoCr for a few seconds. Eventually, it and the podium will flash briefly. Quote
Gatanui Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I can see the animation, I just couldn't see it before trying the US proxy server. -Gata Quote
GK733 Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) What a great day to be ill. Might just listen to this rest of the day: http://listenonrepea...oes_soundtrack_[HD] Edited October 9, 2014 by GK733 Quote
toatali Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 What a great day to be ill. Might just listen to this rest of the day: http://listenonrepea...oes_soundtrack_[HD] How strange, I too am ill (no seriously, I threw up this morning (not nice)) Since this is the calm before the storm, I thought I might finally share my thoughts on the sets. In short: they all look amazing; I've grown to love the new Hau (from some angles), and the rest of the Toa (sorry, 'Masters') look equally cool. My fav is probably Onua or Kopaka. I love how Onua's chest print is an 01 Pakari, and I might be the only one here who likes Kopaka's chunky legs. This really is an exciting day for BIONICLE, and I can't wait to see what's revealed (hopefully some kind of trailer, I want to see something new!!) Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Is anyone else really happy that Onua is clearly the strongman of the group? As a kid I always assumed that Onua and Pohatu were equally strong, but one was all about upper-body strength and the other about lower. I was never a fan of that Greg-ism that Pohatu was the strong one, and Onua was just a regular-strength Toa with a Pakari. Seemed really unintuitive. I agree. Onua's always been the strongman for me. Seeing him overly bulky here is most welcome. Quote
Mandate Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I really loved Onua's look until I saw that ghastly monobrow. I'll probably still pick him up, though. Probably going to be getting a mint-condition original Onua soon though Quote
Aethersprite Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I love how Onua's chest print is an 01 Pakari Blimey, you're right! I absolutely adore the new Pakari, I can't stop looking at it! I agree. Onua's always been the strongman for me. Seeing him overly bulky here is most welcome. Same here. He does have the Mask of Strength, after all. Quote
SirPuddings Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 I don't know what it is, but the whole thing with Pohatu's hover-jet-boot-things and his asymmetrical armour made me think that maybe Pohatu will be the Technology guy of the group. I know that spot is meant to be for Nuparu, but to be honest, I would welcome it with open arms. To me, the original Pohatu was just an Onua who could run fast and talked more. Quote
Vinyl Scratch Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 Oh hey, Onua got Hordika neck pieces. Haven't seen those in a while. So far, Lewa, Gali and Onua are must have. Quote
TheBrickPal Posted October 9, 2014 Posted October 9, 2014 (edited) New York Comic Con started fifteen minutes ago (I live in the same time zone). Let the news start pouring in! EDIT: Nevermind, it JUST started. Oh hey, Onua got Hordika neck pieces. Haven't seen those in a while. Oh, they have been around. Particularly in the Exo Suit.
