Kalhiki Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Is this official or fan work? https://www.facebook...86716566&type=1 If official, that's another easter egg for ya in Gali's waterbendi... water manipulation. Fan work. Those were part of some wallpapers someone (can't recall the name) on Deviantart made. Quote

Xeros610 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 (edited) it is difficult to me, but i won't enter the challenge most probably (due to my lack of skills and parts ), but, oh well, at least it'll be interesting to see the creations, and try to decide if i'll enter or not. I COULDN'T RESIST... sorry, but it was so epic the that, in fact, i couldn't Edited October 23, 2014 by Xeros610 Quote
Nekchir Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 (edited) Yeah, well. I don't even remotely expect me to get at least 3rd place, let alone 1st in this competition. I'm guessing the winners are going to be Raiden's (he's a brilliant MOCer on DeviantArt, check him out) level of creativity, in my opinion, to place. Though, I can take pride in saying that I at least attempted this thing--I even put in the effort of digging out my Bionicle pieces I put away a few years back. Mandate Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 For me, I have to bring my A game into this competition. For me, it's not a case of trying to win, but whether or not I win or not. In a contest such as this to me there are no winners or losers, it's a proving ground. Proving that you've got what it takes to win one of the largest competitions in LEGO history. Perhaps it's just my depression and proving I'm worthy to myself, but to me there's no point in entering "just for fun". Quote
Aethersprite Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I don't think we should be discussing the contest here; there's a separate discussion thread for that. Anyway, given that the mold for the Mask of Creation already exists, perhaps there's a high chance we'll see Ekimu (or another bearer of the mask) as a set in the summer? Quote
Nekchir Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Probably--can't wait for the leaks for those! ;P Quote
Mandate Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Well, you've got a few months to wait then. Enjoy watching the hype slowly burn out. Quote
Dorek Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 On the subject of the contest, I'm hoping it's not only a sheer level of technical expertise that's being judged, and not just because it slants unfavorably towards certain BIONICLE demographics. I know the prize is solid gold worth several thousands of dollars, but one of the things I've always liked about seeing LEGO MoC contests (official ones) is that the winners always have a certain sense of personality or uniqueness that is independent of tricky MoCing techniques or good photography/lighting. Not that I don't want the winners to have those, per se, but I like to think they'll be judging on other merits as well. Anyway, Ekimu will almost certainly be a summer set, as will Makuta, although I'm hoping for a light and dark version of him. Quote

SpiderSpaceman Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Fan work. Someone drew it on deviantart. Here is a link to one of them http://ferain.devian...paper-488201515 Oh alright, I'm familiar with that guy's stuff, have some of the better Bionicle-minded deviantart members bookmarked on my computer, but A) I don't regularly check for anything new, B) that's a really faithful recreation of the series' aesthetic rather than his usual, and C) the zoomed in segments in the facebook post I linked looked like they could be animation frames - the full art, not so much because of the obvious "wallpaper" format. So, I think my first buys are Gali and the Ice Protector. Are we talking about first buys? I dunno, I just wanted to add set discussion so this post wouldn't just be an "oops, nevermind" Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 The Mata Nui Online Game is the only BIONICLE game whose soundtrack ever really stuck with me 100% agreement on this. Soundtrack perfection, besides a little bit of rhythm rigidity and a really badly synthesized marimba or something I plan on buying everyone ASAP, lol. Haha, not a bad plan all in all. I'm gonna pace myself on the Bionicle just because I'm gonna splurge on the DC sets, so it's not like I'm any kind of saint of moderation Quote
Kalhiki Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I'll probably get them all in one go. But the Stone Protector and Pohatu will be my first to build since Turaga Onewa was the first figure I got, and I've had a connection to the Stone characters ever since. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I'll probably start with Gali, Onua, and a protector or two. Quote
GK733 Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I have piles of coins gathering up for some time now... And I'm pretty sure I'm going to get them all maybe in a one go. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 (edited) My favorites are the Earth and Stone related sets, so I'll try and get those first. The Jungle protector I quite like too. LOSS is also a favorite of mine. Edited October 23, 2014 by Mutant Orc Quote

Can't wait for the reviews to roll in so I can see LOSS' function in more detail. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Yes, I'm looking forward to the reviews as well so as I can get a better idea of the sets I'm currently not sure about. Quote
Shakar Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 Not sure on many Protectors I'll buy (the 6 Toa are a given). They grew on me a lot (they look so cute in the cartoon!), the same mask issue doesn't bother me that much anymore (I guess it's due to how cool the two tone effect looks) and they're just cute fun guys overall. I feel 10 euro is too much for sets I'm not that interested in (I'm paying full price for the Toa because I love them), so I'll buy one or two when the sets come out then I'll wait for a discount over Amazon. LoSS is still a big no, I just can't bring myself to be interested in the set.. I just want the gold Spider and the printed chest so I'll buy those pieces online. No need to waste 15 Euro in a bunch of pieces I don't need. I dunno, maybe I'll try to revamp him if I like the character. Quote

I'm waiting on more info for LoSS, and I'm still not sure why they're hiding the Protectors. Although I know how you feel about the cartoon, once I saw it and realized the art style they were going for it improved my view of the sets gigantically. It's not gritty realism, it's cartoony fun. I can see where you're coming from, though. Comments like this highlight the difference between people who enjoy BIONICLE sets as Technic parts packs and people who enjoy them as characters or action figures. Quote

LOSS... doesn't look too appealing visually. It can be great for a character to have a mighty steed to go with, like maybe Tahu riding an Ash Bear or something Quote
arc Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I'm thinking onua and LoSS first. I was originally gonna get tahu first, but then HD pics of onua with his shovel hands came out... If I get 3rd in bfgm, I'm definitely picking him. (Keep dreaming arc, not gonna happen.) Quote
