TTV's Gali review is up, peeps.

Gali uses dark azure plates? I have been terrible at figuring these colors out. Oh well, regular blue seems to go pretty well with it anyway.

Ooh, gali is looking better than I thought. Really like the weapon design.

And is it just me, or is the lighting really weird in that video?

It is quite bright, yes

wow, that dark azure looks great. I just wish they had made all of her bones trans blue, to look like water contained underneath her armour or something. Still, she looks solid enough, and Iove how big her weapon is (heavy though it may be).

Oh wow. Gali looks great. The dark azure is especially nice (I think I prefer it over Mata blue), the mask looks fantastic, and the Scuba/Sub Slizer-esque chest printing is just the icing on the cake. Don't really like how wide the axe heads are, nor do I like that the shoulder armor rotates with the arm, but both are easy enough to fix.

I think she may be my favorite Toa... After Pohatu, of course.

Yeah, I think the azure looks great. I already started planning my mods around her using Mata Blue though. Ah well, back to the drawing board.

So far, my favorites (in order) are Lewa, Kopaka, Gali, Pohatu, Onua, then Tahu.

Bring on the Lord of Skull Spiders!!!!

"They're not going to flip the design for HERO Factory, in just one year, so why do you expect them to?"

I'm finding it very odd how much they're trying to... transition... this coming year. Specialized parts, land ho! That's not to say that the new parts are overly specialized, but it's very strange that after seeing so many parts for the most blatantly generic styles suddenly get highly detailed parts, even if they have horrid implementation (Looking at you, Lewa. That secondary function could have looked so much better by just flipping around. Fortunately, LEGO isn't Hasbro or Mattel, so it's not a giant issue). It's even weirder how everyone was whining about Technic implementation when we were actually getting it (as I have so learned now) and then praising LEGO for their glorious work slapping... it... on... their... backs... *sigh*

But really though, if we see something like an improved version of the Metru torso with actual posability on the shoulders and keeping the visible gears, I would be ecstatic. Visible gears looked so amazing.

Specialized highly-detailed parts and Bionicle in the same sentence? That's weird.

You gotta remember, otherwise they're doing pretty good at keeping it unspecialised.

So, do you mean the gear system implementation? Because it's actually the first time we've had both extended poseability and gear functions.

And aren't the arms already fully poseable on the shoulders or can they not move outwards to the sides?

Plus we already have visible gears on the back, and we're perhaps kind of lucky we're getting gear functions at all.

Could you actually specify where and what you're talking about? After that last part through about visible gears it's become plain you're just a troll, or you're nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking and have completely missed the point of what I've said. So I'm not even going to bother giving you a proper response when I can't even tell what you're trying to accomplish.

Personally, I am very excited now after having seen the TTV videos. I hadn't made up my mind whether or not Bionicle would be the first thing from the upcoming release season that I would get, but I have now. I'm definitely getting Bionicle first ahead of Ultra Agents, DC Superheroes, and the City demolition team.

Bionicle 2015 is first on my list too. Hopefully, I'll have enough money (about $210, including taxes) to buy them all in one day.

On the thought of soft-reboots, maybe the top half of the vahi is in this new universe. Because how could the bottom half attach to the new heads? Maybe it would fit with the older mask.

I have the same plans. I've already set aside some money, and if I aquire any during the holidays it will be going into my 'Bonkle fund'.

Anyone already planning on buying multiples of some sets? I will probably be buying a second Lewa right off the bat, maybe a second Onua.

My ideal route if they do connect it using the Vahi is to release the 'top half' in the main baddie set and re-release the 'bottom half' (the old mold) with a set called 'Vezon the Wanderer', this Vezon being the same Vezon from the original story somehow bringing the 'bottom half' to Okoto during his dimension hopping adventure. I would like to see the top half be a full mask on its own with a part that the original Vahi can peg onto.

That's my best-case scenario if they do connect the stories, but I personally hope that they don't touch upon the old story at all or make any sort of connection.

But one thing that's good about the price of the 13/18 sets we're getting this year is how generally cheap it is this year, compared to Bionicle G1. (This was brought up on BZPower.)

Previous lines of Bionicle would (most of the time) cost as much as $500+ for every single set of each corresponding year.

Where is this whole "we're going to get a separate top part of the mask" idea coming from? That's not going to happen. The soft-reboot "we're getting the vahi from the original canon finished" thing is pretty clearly a misunderstanding from those of us not-TTV from NYCC. The LEGO employee's comment was definitely more of a "it's definitely got connections to the original story, like how in the first story, we had the mask of time, but it was only half a mask? In the NEW story we'll have the whole mask instead". So more of a "this is a familiar returning element to ease the story" not a "this is LITERALLY THE SAME MASK FROM THE FIRST CANON".

People are reading too much into it, and reading it the wrong way.

And you've clearly got some misunderstandings of your own that need to be cleaned up. If the LEGO employee was just stating that there are similar elements, either he's a sarcastic troll or an idiot. Why? Look at the sets. Gee, I wonder where I've seen characters like Gali, Pohatu, Tahu, Kopaka, Makuta, Lewa and Onua before? I wonder where I've seen the concept of an island governed by distinct elemental "areas" before? I wonder where I've seen the main protagonist cast into a deep sleep before? As I said before, if your opinion is correct, then either the LEGO employee was a sarcastic troll stating the obvious to screw around with the fanbase, or he was just stating the completely obvious without realizing how much that doesn't relate to the question asked of him. Or perhaps there's a third option, where he was actually giving an answer to a question?

Furthermore, when was it ever stated in the old canon the Vahi was half a mask? Read through your own version of what you said. What purpose does this serve? Where did the Rep get this idea from? Was he talking about aesthetics? If so, why talk about aesthetic design in a question about the story?

Clarify your point, and make sure it doesn't conflict with your main argument. Because everything you have said conflicts with itself when you examine the basic groundwork. Is it possible the guy just made a mistake? Yeah. Likely? No. This is a guy who's worked closely with the new BIONICLE, who should know what he's talking about.

And before you accuse me of being a TTV fanboy, I don't really care about the Vahi at all. It's too early to tell, the comment made by the Rep was unclear, so before we all get our knickers in a knot and split the fanbase up further than it's already going to be once the new story is established, can we all just say that in regard to the new story; "we don't know"? Because at this point in time, we really have no idea of what is going to happen with the Reboot. Anyone claiming otherwise that doesn't have some direct link to LEGO is either lying or has a real-life time-travel version of the Vahi. (or they're Vezon)

edit: re-read over my own points again, and there is the possibility he brought up the Vahi to say it's part of the new universe, just different this time around. However, it still doesn't add up to why he would say anything like this in regard to a question about if the universes are linked. Why not just give a straight-up "No, they aren't"? One can argue he brought it up as a comparison/reference, but it's still weird. Especially seeing as no one who was actually at Comic Con when the question was asked can recall whether he actually gave a straight answer (at least from what I've seen, anyway)

Or on the other hand it could have as much relation as Transformers G1 and the Transformers Unicron Trilogy have with each other

Which is "Very little, except for Primus and Unicron being universal constants"

Just because there's a Vahi that's half a mask doesn't necessitate anything from the old series showing up

Alright, TTV's uploaded their own Podcast to address the controversy over the Vahi:

It's mainly just derping around while talking about different controversies, so if you're expecting a corporation-like "statement" you'll be dissappointed.

There are *SOME* factual inaccuracies, the Temple of Time wasn't the only slide missing, there was one (technically two, but no one cares about the "questions?" slide) other that had some concept of a Protector in a cloak and the volcano where the Fire Mask is located. And the reaction from the guy at Comic Con wasn't a "why is the Temple of Time stuff in here?" more of a, "This is the Temple of Time, and here's the next slide".

But anyway, it's kind of weird that they would even bring up a "Temple of Time" at Comic Con, or even to see it named, when it's really more of a "Oooh, this is a high-importance area!" than a hype builder. I'm really curious as to where they're going with all this, and as to why time would even be an important element so early in the story that at the very least we know the Vahi is making an appearance somehow, be it the Vahi from Gen 1 or a new Vahi.

I suppose that at the end of a three (?) year story arc we will get some-kind of MacGuffin due to which all gets back to were we left or something like that. And that MacGuffin will be the Mask Of Time.

Or maybe it will just turn out that underneath Okoto is a city and they will eventually reveal that Okoto was on top of the face of a giant robot containing all the separate BIONICLE universes inside of itself (it in itself being in a universe coupled with a collection of universes inside an even bigger robot, and so on). Or it will just turn out that the entire planet was just a transforming robot and no one had any clue about it until the plot calls for it *COUGH COUGH* Transformers *COUGH COUGH*.

Woah, slow down there Mr. Shyamalan.

For anyone who owns samples of the new parts: can the new armour add-on (you know, the one the Protectors use on their torsos and the Toa use as body armouring) fit over the shoulder shell? The Breakout bubble armour can (like on Black Phantom), the Cap America boot can't, I can't tell which is the case here.

What's so ironic about this whole Vahi controversy is that I actually really hope this was all just a misunderstanding because I seriously wanted a hard reboot. :P

Well, one thing we do have is a Vahi cloud cameo from the NYCC video:
