Takanuinuva Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) Alright so since the question has been asked 1000 times, yes, it is feasible to give Pohatu geared legs without him looking completely wacko. With that design you did for Pohatu. You could swap out the torso beam for this in black http://www.bricklink...Pic.asp?P=90605 or use a glatorian neck to attach the head and a o0o piece to attach the chest armor. Then there wouldn't be any exposed ball joints Edited November 16, 2014 by Takanuinuva Quote
Kalhiki Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Pohatu's leg function... No. Sorry, but no matter how you slice it, it'll end up looking bad. That's the best attempt I've seen, VBBN, but it's still pretty wacko. :P Also, nice Akamai and Wairuha, Aanch. Can't wait to get these sets so I can start fiddling with combi models myself. Quote
Rayskull Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) I cracked the code: -> Gearbox on a protector skeleton. I can't test it though I don't have the pieces, borrowed the gear box style from Kopaka and the gearbox itself, from a member of Eurobricks. The shoulders have end stops. Strangely, I'm starting to appreciate the original compact protector design even more. Edited November 16, 2014 by Rayskull Quote
dviddy Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Editing is a large part of making a video, so it's a shame yours didn't get the proper treatment. But I do applaud you on your picture taking skills. They're fantastic. How much were they edited? Tahu doesn't look like he's casting a shadow. Whatever you did, though looks spectacular. They were very edited. I shoot on a blue backdrop which allows for easy background removal. Otherwise, a little colour correction, a solid background gradient. Each photo is like five or six layers before merging. Luckily I shoot them all on the same settings and same focal distance so I can apply the same corrections to all of the photos. That at least makes it go faster. I might send Andrew a nicer version of the video, since my own edits to it were clearly better than what I was expecting. Apparently there was a misunderstanding about what "I'll edit it for you" meant lol. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) Tahu looks great. All of them look great. These are, in my opinion, the most solidly-built group of Toa since the Metru. -ZotS Edited November 16, 2014 by Zaktan of the Shadows Quote

They can all share the same core strength but diversify in appearance. Quote
Mandate Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 You know what I want to see? I don't want to see two lots of three Toa merge into a Kaita at any point in the new BIONICLE. I want to see all SIX (and maybe the Protectors too! But doubtful) merge into one gigantic Toa Kaita. Quote

I want to see all SIX (and maybe the Protectors too! But doubtful) merge into one gigantic Toa Kaita. Two Toa for the body and one for each limb a la Devastator? That sounds pretty sweet. Personally, I'd prefer such a combination to be for the Protectors. Remember the Turaga Nui? I'm going to have way to much fun with these sets... These guys are in full production....you think we might see these hit shelves earlier? I'd imagine end of November to mid December is when we'll see them pop up. Seems silly that they wouldn't capitalize on the holiday shopping season. Edited November 16, 2014 by Kalhiki Quote
Toa of Gallifrey Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) I can't wait to walk into Toys 'R' Us and come out with a shopping cart full of Bonkles. Edited November 16, 2014 by Toa of Gallifrey Quote
Nekchir Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) Hopefully they'll be at Toys R Us by early December, so I can buy all of them at once. Edited November 16, 2014 by MonkeyChud Quote
Toa of Gallifrey Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I'm gonna see what's in stock first. My Toys 'R' Us tends to stock the small sets first so I'll probably get the Protectors first. Quote
Kalhiki Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I just hope it's not the case where they stock the shelves, but you can't buy them until such-n-such date. :/ It's happened before. Quote
bricksnbricks Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 When can we expect these in stores? Quote
Nekchir Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 They are going to be in all stores by January 1st. But some stores like to put them on the shelves a few weeks early. Wait...your stores put them ON THE SHELVES but you can't buy them??? Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) Wait...your stores put them ON THE SHELVES but you can't buy them??? It could be worse - my local supermarket often puts sets up for sale on their release date (so no excuses of selling before the street date) and you still can't buy them - all because their computer system doesn't recognise the barcode and the shop assistants refuse the sale even though they have prices for all of them on the shelves But anyway - I'm hoping the sets come out before Christmas, and if they do, it will probably be the TRU that I live within walking distance of that will get them out for sale early (even if you have to spend 40 minutes arguing with the manager to get them all from out the back). I might be able to ask for some of the Protectors or LOSS then. I'm also holding out a tiny bit of hope that they might be for sale at the Brick 2014 convention I'm going to. Well, one can cross their fingers and wish, can't they? Edited November 16, 2014 by TheOneVeyronian Quote

Kalhiki Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Wait...your stores put them ON THE SHELVES but you can't buy them??? Sometimes yeah, and it's super annoying. Happened at Target with the Ninjago Rebooted line where the sets were on shelves maybe a week before the release date. Go to the register and it rings up saying it can't be sold until such-n-such date. I think it also has happened at TRU. I've never had problems with Lego, but I know other people have. But I know TRU usually gets stuff early, anyway. So long as it's a few weeks to a month early, I don't have problems. A few days to a week early I probably won't be able to buy them. Quote
GK733 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 Ungh. If I'm going to buy these all from the Legoshop it takes around 220 euros (+ shipping)... aand 180 euros if I buy them from a local shop nearby. Curse you inflated euro... Quote
Ventum Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 I myself am hoping they become avaliable early. I really wanna get my hands on Kopaka and Gali. I don't see why they wouldn't release them early anyways, the finalized box art has been done and so has the instructions and such. Only time will tell, I guess. Quote
Rayskull Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) Since they didn't release the last chi figures stateside it would seem to me that the shelves would be mostly clear for the Bionicle relaunch. Even the last Hero Factory figures are hard to find on my side of town. Edited November 16, 2014 by Rayskull Quote
Nekchir Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 My Walmart is still stocked full of HF sets, lol. So I doubt I'll see them early there. Someone should take a quick trip to their local Toys R Us in the U.S., to see if they're there yet. Quote
