For those of you in the UK, the Bionicle sets will definitely be out on the 1st January, in case anybody was worried that the UK would follow parts of mainland Europe and have a February release. Confirmed to me by a store manager at the London Westfield LEGO Store :classic: Unfortunately no sightings anywhere else, not even my local TRU which normally always breaks street dates on almost everything :sceptic:

I have never looked so forward to the end of New Year's Eve if I'm honest...

I can guarantee that regardless of the vahi showing up in all these animations, when we get a mask of time in plastic, it won't look like the one we had in G1, and it won't be the one in the animations either. Which makes arguing from the animations a little silly.

How many did they send you

This is what I keep asking!

Anyway, not to derail the Time conversation, but on a tangent, I'm having a bit of difficulty reconciling the timeline (NO PUN INTENDED) of what happens with Ekimu. I had assumed it went:

Fight -> Knocked unconscious for thousands of years -> found by Protectors -> Toa summoned.

Now it's being pointed out to me that it could have been something more like:

Fight -> Knocked unconscious -> Found by Protectors -> Entombed for thousands of years -> Toa summoned.

Any thoughts?

I wasn't sure about it being the MoUP before but now I'm pretty sure.

http://img4.wikia.no...s/a/af/MOUP.jpg

Look at those energy lines coming towards the mask. One is blue and one is red. The mask was crafted from all six elements. Why would a random skullmask of less evil guy have other powers as well? Especially when you can see there are six cracks for six different elements with only two seen and weak lights for the rest.

Good point! I didn't even see those. :P I think I'll stand by my theory now. Now on how/if they do release it in the summer wave, I think it is a tad bit too early for me. I was expecting maybe a two year build up. -_-

I'd say the second one is more likely.

Unless you have some insider information that you're not telling us you can't guarantee anything about the future of Bionicle, and this goes further to prove you are unwilling to speculate and have decided your authority is law without all the facts.

Sorry, I signed an NDA. But it doesn't take insider knowledge to see the new mask attachment system and new heads, the updated versions of the original masks which some containing massive variances from the G1 versions, and the "our mask of time will be a whole mask" comment, and realize the new mask of time won't look like the original.

It blows my mind that people think we are going to get a top half of the mask that attaches to the limited edition, not mass-released mask of time from G1. That is one of the worst business decisions TLG could make.

You are again derailing the converstation. I'm sure you have your reasons to do so, but may it be better to step out from the converstation since it seems only to cause more fights. Like you know, you don't have to lie if you don't even talk about it.

But okay, maybe that is not derailing, but when you say something I don't know if you say it on purpose because of that NDA, or because you just want to give your personal opinion on things. I guess many people will debate with you because of this was it intentional or not.

Deevee confirmed to have a Vahi 8/8 IGN

(because someone won't get the joke, I'm being sarcastic)

Didn't the Vahi get a gold edition in 2004? But yeah, you have a point. It was never mass-produced, and even in an alternate dimension where it WAS mass-produced we last saw it in 2004. Kids will be annoyed, even sad, that they can't get their own Vahi to complete the Mask of Time.

However, if the "top half" was just an NYCC exclusive (like the original was only given away at conventions) I don't think there'd be too much of a problem other than that it would basically become a friendship locket. Some would have both halves, and others would have theirs disconnected forever.

Fight -> Knocked unconscious -> Found by Protectors -> Entombed for thousands of years -> Toa summoned.

That's how I understood the videos, yeah. And IIRC, there's smoke coming out of the crater when they found Ekimu, which means the crater is quite recent when they find him (BTW, they have the same weapons as the present-time Protectors, so they might pass them to their sons just like the masks. Which is quite creepy for the Earth Protector, would that mean that he has to rip the gatling gun out of his chest ?).

That, indeed, would make zero sense. But they could release a mask which covers the whole face (so it would indeed be a whole / full mask), but its lower half would be inspired by the Vahi's design. But on an other hand, people would be even more confused and generate dozens of pages of sterile debate. Okay, actually, I think a brand new design for the MoT would be a preferable option. But a Vahi-inspired MoT (but once again, covering the whole face) isn't that silly, is it ?

Second one. Also, the Protectors that found Ekimu aren't the current Protectors (the ones we're getting as sets). After all, the Prophecy of Heroes came from Ekimu's lifeless body (however that works) and was passed down through the generations, so they can't be the same Protectors (which also means that they don't have ridiculously long lifespans).

I got the impression it was the same protectors that summoned the Toa that heard the "Prophecy of Heroes".

edit: Oh, nevermind. I never bothered to read that pamphlet.

I always expected a new mold designed to resemble the old but covered the whole face. Storywise its the complete mask even though it may be remolded to fit the new faces.

I was just watching 'Prophecy of Heroes' for the umpteenth time when I listened closely to it's phrase, including this line:

When the stars align, six comets will bring timeless heroes to claim the masks of power and find the Mask Maker.

I am wondering if 'the Mask Maker' they are referring to is the same one that is in the summer set, and if so...

I wonder why they are tasked with finding Ekimu if the Protectors know where he is? Perhaps his tomb was lost to the ravages of time and memory?

My idea is that maybe the Mask Maker refers to the Maker of the Mask of Ultimate Power, and if it is saying they must find and defeat Makuta to end the skull invasion.

I'm not sure but didn't they mention at NYCC that Mata Nui has he's/it's (or whatever presented as) role in this reboot? If the mask maker they need to find is not Ekimu it mostly certainly is Mata Nui. Like, what if he is... father of Makuta and Ekimu.

Unless they do some 7th Toa thing and make it turn out to be a villager that puts in the MoCr and becomes the new mask maker? Orrrr maybe it will be the Vahiso there can be three mask makers

We don't know if the Protectors know where he is. Thousands of years passed, so I imagine Ekimu's resting place has been lost to history.

Ok so here is how i understand the timeline to be for those confused;

- Okoto villagers lived in harmony

- Several Masks were gifted to the village elders by Ekimu, the mask maker

- At some point the Mask Makers Ekimu and Makuta made a deal never to make a Mask with all 6 elements

- Makuta grew jealous of Ekimu and created the Mask Of Ultimate Power

- The Mask of Ultimate Power took control over him

- The Island cracked

- Ekimu knocked the Mask of Ultimate Power from his face causing an explosion that scattered the masks (Creation, Control, Ultimate Power)

- The protectors discovered the body of Ekimu and learned the prophecy of heroes

- The protectors buried Ekimu in the city

- An unspecified amount of time passed as the Protectors waited for the stars/planets to align so they could summon the Toa

- At some point during this time the cracks in the Island awakened the Skull Spiders

- The toa were summoned via the Temple Of Time using the Mask Of Time

- The toa arrived on the island and met with their respective tribes

- The toa located their specific golden masks with the help of the elder Protector

- The toa began their search for the Mask Of Creation

- The toa located the Mask Of Creation and had a battle for its posession with the Skull Spiders

Unknown timeline events;

- Prophecy of heroes was made

- Ekimu learnt of the Toa

So you COULD say I lucked out today...

-snip-

I've only built Tahu so far, but he's awesome (as I predicted). The guy who worked at Target was so helpful getting the sets out from the back storage room for me. Very grateful!

Lucky guy :P Congrats on getting the sets

One thing to note, Scar - I think the "unspecified amount of time" when the Protectors were waiting spanned a long time. Like, several generations. :P

Thousands of years, specifically, if that's indeed the order of events (according to the booklet, anyway). Anyway, I can dig that as the timeline.
