DuckBricks Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) Anyone notice that Pohatu's mask feels a bit loose compared to the other Toa's. Any ideas on how to correct that? I think actually the looseness is a bit random, my Pohatu's mask is really tight but some of my protectors have really loose masks while others don't... Edited January 4, 2015 by legozebra Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 The only problem I have is how overpriced the sets are. Over here, a single Protector costs $16 (!) I'm not even going to bother trying to buy Tahu through S@H, it costs $60 shipping included. Seriously?! Where do you live?! I think actually the looseness is a bit random, my Pohatu's mask is really tight but some of my protectors have really loose masks while others don't... Yeah, it is random. And it's a shame.....my POE has a very tight mask, and $20 Kopaka has perhaps the loosest connection. Quote

A whopping $90 for Tahu to be delivered to your door! And if you want it 6 days earlier, you get to pay $130! Edit: Nevermind, I stuffed up. Had two Tahus in the cart, not one. Let me rephrase that. Yeah,Yeah,i know that today is 4th January but....HYPE Aaaand i don't want to buy them Online (Lego Shop,at the moment,is the only resource),because, you know,i want to keep the tradition (I haven't bough any LEGO Set since Bionicle production stopped) Edited January 4, 2015 by jaller Quote

Mandate Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) Don't you get a free shipping when you buy few sets at once? I had the same situation. Shipping is cheaper with the more you buy. You can get a bunch of sets without the shipping price increasing too much, but if you plan to buy anything more than a single low-price set it's not worth it. Free shipping, btw, is usually part of a sale, or special offer. Edit: Nevermind, if you buy an order worth something like $200 you get free shipping. Edited January 4, 2015 by JayWalker Quote
MakutaDreadscythe Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Lowering the arms makes his arms longer, and awkwardly so. On that, it also removes the near-hunch the set possesses otherwise, and makes him a more generic humanoid instead of the trickstery- spiritely look the slight hunch gives him. Agree on the bits around the neck, but they don't work the same with the greater space between them and the shoulders. Seems dumb but the character- defining silhouettes and build aspects are one of the most important aspects of the new sets and one of the most impressive. I understand that, but I do feel the compromised neck articulation, especially on a character such as Lewa who is supposed to be airborne most of the time, makes that solution worth it in my opinion. Besides, I personally felt the shoulders were too high anyways. To each our own of course, that's what LEGO is about after all! Quote
Agent Fusion Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I was wondering about that too... What would be really cool is if they implemented a feature that whenever you lose your mask a skull spider can latch onto your face and you have to fight a bunch of villagers in "evil" mode... Or you have to play as the Protector to save the Toa. Speaking of the Protectors and the Toa, their relationship really reminds me of Yoda and Luke, respectively, in that you have the small, but wise one and the strong, but inexperienced one. Quote

We're not in the same universe as Gen 1, so the rules of Gen 1 don't apply. For all we know, more Toa may arrive on Okoto the same way Tahu did. Or maybe there won't even be anymore Toa, but just elite Protectors. But I would like for them to become Toa......then they reveal their names to be Jala, Kongu, Hahli, etc.... Quote

One Very Agile Cat Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Yeah, I want the main six to be the stars for a little while, but "elite Protectors" with names and unique masks sounds pretty good. As it stands I just pronounce the abbreviation for the Protectors as names. It's funny. Quote

Based on the old Gen, Protectors (Essentially Turaga), would'nt become Toa they would have already been Toa. In this universe i doubt that they've had Toa before the arrival of the Toa Mata, but seeing as they are being given focus and have yet to recieve names i would'nt doubt that we'd see upgraded versions with names in the future. I'd quite like the current Toa to stick around for a bit longer, but I wouldn't mind the Protectors to become more Toa-like. I can see the Toa sticking around, but the Protectors in my theory would become like a secondary group of Toa given that Okoto is much larger. The Toa Mata essentially being here to introduce us to the new Generation and then have the Protectors be the main Toa that stick throughout the later years. I just doubt we'll see another upgraded version of the Toa Mata in 2016 as they are more a staple of Gen 1 and having them dominate Gen 2 would reduce the potential for new ideas. Yeah, I want the main six to be the stars for a little while, but "elite Protectors" with names and unique masks sounds pretty good. As it stands I just pronounce the abbreviation for the Protectors as names. It's funny. Yeah, i can see the appeal. I'm mostly talking from a toy standpoint though, having the Protectors become Toa would mean we could get upgraded masks with the multi-colour situation we currently have. I would'nt be suprised if the Protectors are a test in terms of that for mask design, seeing whether fans would buy the same mask over and over if it was a different blend of colours, the dual colours may also be testing the future so we could see 2015 Summer sets with multiple colours. Yeah, I really liked how the original six stuck around for three years (not too short, not too long) in Gen 1 Bionicle. Hoping that will be the same here... Quote
Leewan Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 the dual colours may also be testing the future so we could see 2015 Summer sets with multiple colours. The 2H sets are already finalized (BTW, according to Exo-6, there's a chance that we'll get a tan / dark tan set (not 100% sure), and there won't be any dark blue set), so they're not testing anything for this year's sets. I don't know if the the Toa will be the same in 2016, but I can see Ekimu forging new masks for either the Toa (he could make masks with the original powers (i.e. Shielding, X-Ray vision, levitation, etc)) or the Protectors. Right now, it's the only way I can see them being truly upgraded. Or they could travel in the past, like it was theorized a couple days ago, and meet ancient Toa. So I can see three options for 2016 : 1) Tahu and the others stay, but receive new masks / new armors from Ekimu (very likely) 2) The Protectors become the Heroes (they could also receive new masks / new armors from Ekimu) (likely) 3) The current main characters travel back in time, and we discover six ancient Toa (Let's call them Vakama, Matau, Nuju, Nokama, Onewa and Whenua :p) (not likely) Quote

Ah, so my idea of the enlarged skull spider with the tail will not see the daylight. Remember that the statue has a tail, it could very well be the skull scorpio, and will possibly use that dark tan. Though there's possibilty that it's just a statue. Quote
Shakar Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) Shame about the dark blue set.. But I really like the idea of a dark tan set! As for the Toa, I don't think we'll see another team. Unlike G1, recent action themes have made an effort to keep a single team of heroes, adding at most 2-4 additional members. Look at Ninjago for instance. Edited January 4, 2015 by Shakar Quote

I'm thinking that by "find the mask maker", it means that the Toa will have to find a NEW mask maker, not re-awaken Ekimu (at least, not right now). They will probably have to find this third mask maker, and he will become an informal "seventh Toa"......like Takanuva? I see the story going like this (my prediction): Toa find MOCR and stop the Skull Spider swarms.-->Toa discover that Skull Spiders were controlled by MOCO and it new owner (Skull Grinder).-->Toa find third mask-maker, who upgrades the Toa and the Protectors (who become Toa-like)-->Toa recover MOCO.-->Toa re-awaken Ekimu and Makuta, who all team up (Makuta does not have the MOUP, so he is not evil)-->Toa go after the MOUP, which has a mind of it's own and has created a body for itself. TheOneVeyronian Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) I have a question for those in the UK: has anybody been able to find the Bionicle sets in physical stores yet? Like TRU, Smyths, The Entertainer etc.? (except LEGO stores, I know they have them there). Since New Year's Day I've checked out a large TRU and a few supermarkets, but I've found nothing. Also, shame about not getting a dark blue set, I could have done with getting some 5M, 3M and torso shells in that colour for my self-MOC (after finding out that the Skull Spiders make absolutely excellent shoulder armour ). I guess Mata Blue will have to stay on it another year But Dark Tan does get me excited, not least because it will be another way to get those shells introduced with CHI Vardy! I sincerely hope it is Dark Tan and not regular Tan as I'd like to see the roster of Dark Tan shells increased to make the ones already available more useful... though Tan would be another new colour to add to the CCBS palette.
