The first batch of parts they sent out to us consisted of:

-trans-orange haus

-onua masks

-kopaka masks

-silver new armour add-on

-Lewa masks

-more Onua and Kopaka masks

-clear haus

-more spiders

It's funny how the piston add-on is the most needed thing, and yet you got one and countless of masks. which I'm sure you can't use just a few since they have so fragile connection.

Anybody else get an apology email from LEGO about the BIONICLE sets being out of stock on the first? Free shipping code, which is nice... might have to place an order now.

Yup, I got one also. I am hoping to use this to get Gali and Onua.

I'm going to get the LOSS, I think, since Tahu needs a proper villain to fight.

Oh, I got several of the piston add-on. I also have had zero problems with mask tolerance, all the ones I own and have used stay clipped up things easily and securely. I think people are exaggerating the looseness issue, to be honest.

I got my order with Gali, Kopaka and PoS today, and I was absolutely overjoyed to receive it after some earlier shambles at Argos. I was less than impressed with the condition they were in when I opened the box though. Kopaka and PoS both had huge tears in them (Gali's box also had a tear but it was nowhere near as big), and it didn't look like damage from shipping either. I'm opening them anyway, but I do prefer to receive boxes with minimal damage especially if I'm keeping them (as I was planning to here).

I don't think I'll be ordering any more Bionicles through S@H though.

That might be something you could contact LEGO customer service for. I've never seen people get replacement boxes for their sets but I always end up seeing different ways LEGO customer service comes through to make sure your product is satisfactory, so it wouldn't surprise me if they could send you new boxes for them. You should file a complaint with Argos beforehand though. Maybe they'll replace it for you on their own. Hopefully nothing was missing from the boxes though.

Actually the Mask tolerance issue is real and has been linked to several batches of sets being produced before the sets were 'fixed' after complaints around NYCC.

Issues that crop up in those unfixed early batches seem to be the following;

- Blades of Tahu/Kopaka not clicking together

- Loose masks (To varying extents)

- Tahu's pins tend to be loose

- Bent pieces (possibly just due to being badly packaged/handled, but a lot of people seem to be having this issues also)

- Protector's masks having 'run colours' where the colours have blended making the transperency a lot weaker

A couple of friends who got the sets before January 1st have the Tahu/Kopaka issue and the Mask looseness

Ahhh! But How do you know it is Tahu? It might be one of the other Toa.

1:20 shows it pretty clearly, that is indeed a little bit too high.

Do you have a source on this or is it just baseless speculation?

I ask because while conceivably parts like the new masks and swords COULD conceivably need another once-over after issues became apparent, problems with "loose pins" would have nothing to do with that since only a few of the pins in the 2015 sets are new designs, and none of those are in Tahu.

Also, bent parts like swords are an age-old issue caused by the part being compressed beneath other parts when it's hot off the molding machine, and the problem you suggest with the Protector masks isn't a problem at all, but just the natural variation that exists in ALL blended parts. So it sounds like you're conflating quite a few complaints under one hypothetical cause.

In terms of "mask looseness", I'm not sure what people are referring to. Are you guys talking the masks don't hook on securely, or that they wobble up and down. 'Cuz all the masks I have fit on securely, but some do wobble a bit (Pohatu's I think is the worst).

I just wanted to know what people were experiencing.

The Toa/Protectors masks can be annoying sometimes--a lot of the times I need to move the sets or something, and at least one random mask tends to fall off, and I have scramble to find before it gets lost under my bed or something.

Posted

The masks honestly don't feel any less secure than the 2001 masks did.

Agreed. I find them to be more secure than the '01 masks (though axle connections are by far the best for security).

Wobbliness is the only "problem" with them. But it's not a huge issue, and the sets don't suffer from it, so it's hardly a problem at all.

The masks per se say on alright. The problem is simply that it's somewhat hard to move the head without popping it off through the eye piece. It's a neat idea but I'm afraid it's going to be more frustrating than fun.

- The masks being loose and non-clicking board issues have been experienced by myself and some friends along with many reports of it being experienced online. All those exeriencing this were quick to get the new sets and got them before most others. You can also find reports of it online and in some reviews and comments on Youtube.

- The loose pin issue has been reported several times including in

. The user 'Tahu Master Of Fire' also pointed out having this issue along with quite a few others.

While the bent swords may be due to packaging and the masks colour variation may be due how they are made in general, the rest of these issues seem present in many of the earlier sets but not the newer versions. E.g. its more likely that it was just a few early faulty batches and that they fixed it after doing the first few batches

They mentioned at NYCC that they recently fixed the mask issues to make them tighter so its likely that they had produced sets beforehand given they had actual finished sets on display and pieces were given to VIPS.

I got them on December 26 (Both of them) and while Kopaka's lock together securely, Tahu's barely even hold. And Tahu's mask is very loose too....

Also, was that guy a few pages back making up the rumors? Because he hasn't said anything else....... :sceptic:
