You're getting the currency wrong. Those prices are pounds sterling, not dollars. Most of the sets are the same price as the smaller Toa (so probably $15 in USD). Hard to say what Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder will cost. Maybe $25, maybe more.

Is 13 pounds the price of a set like Lewa? If so, really disappointed that the sets are so small. It'd be ok if they were more, but it's just 5.. I guess constraction, even with BIONICLE returning and all, is really without hope. : (

Unless it's all their master plan for us to buy doubles and army build. Still, I'm worried that Basher and Scorpio might turn out half baked. I think those two needed the 15 pounds/20 euro tag.

EDIT: on another note, thank you Huw for the report! I admit I didn't like you in the past (calling the 2013 Chima Ultrabuilds "HORRIBLE", snarking at Ninjago, etc), but you've gotten more professional and unbiased since. So congrats.

I hope this is ok as a bump, I found this series of posts. They're pretty much in line with Risgrynsgröt's descriptions:

saw the sets.

for colors, gunmetal and grey and black for primary colors.

for secondary,i think warrior was clear blue. basher purple. slicer trans green, scorpio tan.

skull grinder was red/black and his chest was a duel color injected chest, trans red and black. think it was the chima one.

"mask maker could or could not be ekimu. hes gold and trans blue but does not have a hammer and uses a regular blue/trans blue protector mask (not gold/blue).

Mask of creation was not present in the set

no, the only red one was grinder

i don't know, but i think it may be possible that it's a generic mask maker, like the protectors are nameless. doesn't use the chima piece shoulders either like ekimu in the vid

Mask Maker sounds like a fine act of trolling on Lego's part. I hope the sets look better than the descriptions make them out to be, because Skull Grinder aside I'm pretty disappointed so far.

So the chima body armor is not dead? interesting. I really don't believe that the chest he mentioned would be the oneseen on every toa and LOSS. I just can't see it used as transparent, while it would certainly look cool.

I dunno, given the emphasis on transparent pieces so far (protector masks being the prime example) I think it's entirely possible. Either that or they could bring back the transparent chest pieces ala Stinger and Jetbug. Edited January 21, 2015 by MakutaDreadscythe

Things at London Toy Fair are usually fairly preliminary. I'd assume a stand in mask for sure. The system reports say that most sets just had blank white Minifigs on display with little illustrations of the actual figs, so take all reports with a grain of salt until we see actual pictures.

The minifigures in particular make me think Lego is concerned about theft. After all, surely at least preliminary versions of the figs would be available for display at this stage, like they have been in past years. But attending Brickfair has taught me that even the most stringent security can't guarantee that minifigs, masks, and other rare trinkets won't "wander off" if they're not glued down...

Speaking of proto-parts, I find it weird that previous parts that were "Prototypes" were essentially just recolors that were exclusive to BZP and other places. Don't get me wrong, but Prototyped parts DO look cool (I'm talking to you Purple Tarix Mask).

Because when you are prototyping a part it is a good idea to cast them in a different color to differentiate them from the final product. That's why Pohatu's prototype 'Rangs were silver, and the prototype gatling gun was yellow- no plans to produce the part in that color.

So, if that's correct, these sets would have a price point of about 16,9 euros. However, if you convert it to US dollars, you'd get a price point of $20. So the price points of these sets are still very much up in the air. Considering that a lot of sets seem to be rather cheap in Britain, even with the conversion taken into account, I'd say that these could all be $20 sets. All of them seem to have some feature that could warrant the increased price.

I just checked S@H UK and LoSS, Lewa etc are 13 each. So the Skull quartet is really going to be sold at that price point. Either they're going to have an amazing price/piece ratio or they got some pretty big cuts to their designs (armouring, ahem, elbows, etc).

Well, it's still hundread euros less than what first wave cost. And 4 titan class sets and one versus set with a titan would be niche. But I'd say we shouldn't take the conversion in account, rather compare official prizes by Lego.

I dont know why people are so annoyed about the price/size of the sets. Lewa and Gali are hardly small sets and stand up pretty well to Tahu and Co.

Yeah... I'm a little puzzled as well. Just because they're not all titans doesn't mean they're not going to be complex and well designed sets.

I don't know about what the others think, but the smaller Toa are basic humanoids, while the Skull villains, except Warrior, aren't. It took a 20 Euro tag for Onua to pull off the big guy type (that Basher seems to fit under) well, and figures with more than 4 limbs like Slicer and Scorpio are almost bound to have simplified arms and/or legs at this price point.

The only thing I'm taking away from all of this is the possibility of a gold-blue Protector mask, because mmm mm that would be nice. Especially since you know they'll release the Mask of Creation too.

I like the second one better, with the lighter blue. Matches the animations and just looks nicer to boot.

(The cynical part in me wants to say they're including it specifically because the "mask maker" figure is so small, so it creates visual consistency with the Protectors)
