I like the second one better, with the lighter blue. Matches the animations and just looks nicer to boot.

(The cynical part in me wants to say they're including it specifically because the "mask maker" figure is so small, so it creates visual consistency with the Protectors)

I suppose, though its a nice touch if we get the Golden Protector masks... then we'd have a golden version of each of the main mask groups, one for the Toa, one for the Skull Spiders and one for the Protectors. Plus it matches the animation.

Chances are the set will include the Mask Of Creation as a mask that the Mask Maker and Skull Grinder are fighting over anyway, so you'd probably be able to switch the Protector mask with the Mask Of Creation :3

I wonder how they ended up on imgur. from tumblr

Those were some rather messy edits, but it was enough for me at the moment.

I've gotten used to saving images that i like of varying Bionicle related things, easier than saving and organising links. As such i downloaded the images shortly after they were originally posted on this forum i think and re-uploaded them to imgur just now so i could share them. I had forgotten who made them, so sorry i didnt credit you.

Personally i think they look pretty good

I'd be shocked if the mocr wasn't in the mask maker set. I'm pretty sure they just didn't have it on display for whatever reason.

And on the subject of pricing, I'm not worried about them being lower priced. Even if two skull guys are a little smaller, they have an army of Skull Spiders to compensate. And this is speculation, but I'm thinking they're generic army villains save for grinder and LoSS maybe.

Hey guys.

I have to announce that the Toa/Master collection have won a award in the Toy Fair in London - just like the 2001 sets. And I think it is a great theme to replace HF.

Happy posting! :classic:

There were awards? That's cool! What do the awards connote, though? Award for what? Best in show?

See here. There are 36 awards given out to what are considered the best new toys on display. LEGO won all three awards in the construction toys category: one for the new Toa, one for Elsa's Sparkling Ice Castle, and one for the Minecraft set "The Dungeon".

Just got my Six toa and the Protector of Stone today. I've finished building and modfiying them. I just need some more silver armor add ons for Onua, Kopaka and Tahu along with another of the silver wide armor used on Onua's torso. The Protector of Stone was used to add more brown to Pohatu and is now in pieces and stored away.

I thought I was going to hate how far back the arms were with the gearbox. But it doesn't bug me as much.

Once I get the pieces I need. I'll show pictures of my Mods.

Same here. But honestly, I know that that mask is coming sometime in the future (mask maker or otherwise), so I want confirmation of the gold Protector mask more-so than the MoCr.

I need that gold Protector mask in my life.

Just wondering, will the cheaper sets include multiple masks? We've been getting used to 2-3 Masks per set and i hope that continues...

Well the way i see it, if we are getting a Gold Protector Mask this year its either the March Polybag item meaning we should see it in about 2-3 weeks OR its in the Mask Maker Vs Skull Grinder set meaning we'll see it probably on the 28th.

So wont be long to wait to discover if we are getting it.

Completely forgot about the polybag, but I'm more inclined to think it'll be a recolored Skull Spider and maybe a weapon or something (similar to the polybag we got with Brain Attack) over a gold Protector mask.

Either one would be cool, though.

I hope we get the MOCR this year, especially since Ekimu isn't really special without it. Then, he's just a Protector.......Is it possible that LEGO will include it IN ADDITION to the golden Protector mask? Ekimu and S. Grinder could be fighting over the MOCR, which will be an "extra mask", and Ekimu could have the Protector mask on?

Or could it be that LEGO just didn't want to reveal that we'll get the MOCR this year, so they didn't display it? That *might* be possible.......</desperate>

BTW, this is kind of half-joking, half serious.....when they find Ekimu, shouldn't he be, like, horribly decomposed? I mean, it's been a few thousand years......#zombieEkimu2015.

Perhaps the lack of a visible hammer on the Mask Maker is due to a transforming weapon, like the Toa's? After all, "the Legend" portrayed Ekimu's tool as using dual Gatling-Gun pieces, and a weapon that fires from two opposite sides simultaneously would be terribly impractical, even as toy. I can't imagine it being complex enough allow for a choice of barrel to fire from. But if the hammer can be made into two guns, perhaps mounted on Ekimu's shoulders via the two stick pieces, it all makes sense.

^I thought his weapon used this piece.

We haven't seen that piece in ages, so I doubt that was their inspiration. Even if the Ekimu set doesn't actually exist at all (a possibility) his animation form would still be based on parts used in BIONICLE.

I find it odd that there would be two characters called "The Mask Maker," each one wearing a Protector mask, in the same year.

I suppose I meant more along the lines of "as we've envisioned him". Hero Factory often showed versions of the sets that were "buildable" but weren't available as sets. While this is most likely Ekimu (although I'm still on board for Takanuva 2.0) some of the stuff we saw in the animations could easily just be for show (and heck, we might never get a good Makuta set in the end).

Fair enough. That said, I do imagine that an Ekimu set would contain a hammer of some sort, given its association with his profession.

My fan theory on this is because Ekimu is either asleep or in a coma that the 'Tomb' combined with the Golden Protector Mask serve as a kind of cryogenic life support system xD

If its not the 'stud launchers' then his hammer probably uses this piece

The idea of using the shooters on the hammer could work, but Ekimu already has a gearbox to make up to that. Besides, a hammer with 10 pieces and 12 studs + 7 extra compared to a hammer with 8 pieces. It's not extremely easy to play with and you'd have to hold from the handle of the hammer, not the shooter on the opposite side because while doing you'd be shooting on with sides.

I sure hope Ekimu will have a hammer but descriptions from toyfair say otherwise.

If Ekimu/maskmaker has a normal hammer, I'm almost 100% certain it uses this build

If he has a shooter it will be built something like this to prevent it being too wide. The shooters aren't really tight on the pole and are secured in place only with half yellow axleholepins.

If the shooter turns out to be the case, I don't at least see them doing a recolor of the shooter itself, and that is one more thing why I'm leaning towards the first option because the "hammer part" of the hammer was completely translucent in the animation. PoF also had a half yellow axleholepin in the shooter which there was no sign of with Ekimu's or Makuta's hammer.

If it is supposed to be a shooter, it would would look like one.

It's in one of this years Technic sets, so I certainly wouldn't count out the possibility.

Everyone seems to think an Ekimu hammer would be only static pieces or only shooters...why not half-and-half? One side shooter, one side normal pieces that can be turned to use the shooter. Makes much more sense from a design standpoint than two shooters on one hammer...

I've been expecting his hammer to be made out of the trans-light-blue shooter pieces, but I think that mysteriouspi's idea would work good with a recolored shooter. I was wondering about the shooters; is there a compact way to brace the shooters with a pin so they don't just rotate and flop around?

If you have the pieces and work off the Fire Protector's method of holding the shooter in place then it might be possible. Though the best idea i can think of is fiddling around using this and branching off that?
