The story's whipping by so fast right now that the villagers don't feel like people, and Okoto feels more like a painted backdrop than a world. Much like how Bara magna felt in the legend reborn. But at least there, we had had the entire winter wave to explore what bara magna was like. Quote
SuperGeniusCreator Posted January 23, 2015 Posted January 23, 2015 The one big difference for me between G1 and G2 is that G2 doesn't have an equivalent of MNOLG. That game was so great for fleshing out Matoran as being more than 6 weird clone sets from Happy Meals, and I feel like the Okoto villagers could stand to have the same done to them. Right now they're pretty much scenery whenever they do appear, with exception of the 6 Protectors. Plus the Protector of Fire's son, who was important enough to show up in 2 episodes with his cute little eyes. Quote

I'm also pleasantly surprised by the Skull Grinder, who looks quite interesting and not as bland as I thought. Such excitement! EDIT: The rest of the sets look...odd. If anything, they seem more at home with early constraction than anything this side of 2003, which I suspect is what the designers were aiming for. EDIT: Slightly less blurry pictures. Still can't judge in detail, but again these look bad with the exception of the MM vs SG set. I'm honestly in disbelief that this is what we're getting after the stellar first wave. The colours are a mess, there's so many thin limbs, and those new part designs are uuuuuugly!! Skull Slicer is a little disappointing, not sure how his upper arms work. The trans-green chest pieces is nice. Skull Basher looks odd, once again need more details to judge. The trans-red chest pieces is probably my favourite variation and i can see a lot of MOC'ing potential. Skull Scorpio looks a bit of a mess, odd proportions, hoping this is a very early leak and that it'll be improved. Mask Maker Vs Skull Grinder is probably the most finalised. Mask Maker is definitely Ekimu and the Mask Of Creation plus Golden Protector mask are an instant win. The massive chain Skull Grinder has is interesting. Do these new bone pieces even have anything to attach armour to? Maybe I'm just being stupid, but I can't see a ball joint or any technic attachment points. What can you do with it? Very early prototypes clearly, as those gold masks are obviously placeholders. Skull warrior looks really incomplete. Hoping for medium azure, but it looks like trans light blue Slicer looks kinda like a prototype Gorast. Also very unfinished looking. Blades remind me of Inika weapons Basher looks more filled out, and has nice armour add-ons. He and some others have very metru-esque blades Scorpio looks cool, but what's going on with that tail? Is that tan, trans yellow, or gold? Ekimu gets his protector mask, and a shield. Cool. Is that a new torso armour piece I see on Grinder? yes please. EDIT: it's on all of them. looks like a ribcage. Also, I love how Ekimu's saw blade shield is customized. I might just get the Skull Grinder set for him. I'll just have to order the parts I like from the rest of them*, which is nice, as it'll leave me with enough money for Ninjago's best wave yet. *if my fears are correct and these sets are beyond the "major redesign" stage. I can't stand the look of the Skull Scorpio (which I thought was going to be a great set) and I dislike the minotaur design of the Basher. The new torso piece is just the worst.
