Well, the tail is clearly going to have some sort of function. Looks to me like some sort of opening and shutting, but who knows. Either way, there wouldn't be that much technic unless it did something,

PM me the images, someone, please :)

Thanks for not forgetting about these! Don't want them to get buried in the new set hype. I'll be uploading them to BS01, iffin you don't mind...

(also I like Skull Scorpio precisely BECAUSE his tail design is so weird. It'll be a neat grabbing function.)

Any idea on what that multi colored circle on the side of the MM vs. SG image is?

Looks like an ad for the LEGO Club to me.

It looks like we might get black bone extenders in Skull slicer. *Fingers crossed*

What circle is everyone talking about? I can't see it.

It's on the side of the box. It looks like it's split up into six sides, presumably to display the six elemental powers.

Would you P.M. me the images as well please? I would be much obliged.

It's not just Skull Slicer - Warrior clearly has them, too (and most likely Basher as well, dunno about the Scorpio, though).

Oddly enough, I like skull scorpion the best. Might have work on the tail though.

I like the Scorpio more than the others too, but for the opposite reason: I think the tail function is relatively unobtrusive, I just wish it had legs that could actually support it. Also, claws that don't look as horrible as the ones it uses, but that's a lost cause.

The new bone piece is terrible. I get they're supposed to look like skeletons but I see no use for such a piece.

Taking another look there are actually some pretty good parts here, like the new torso shell (too bad it's not in black or some other neutral colour) and a tr. purple bone in a longer size (or is it actually tr. pink? I certainly wouldn't mind that). I hope the new torso doesn't look overly villainous, I'd like to have a larger variety of torsos to use on my MOCs. There's a new armour piece too, which looks pretty cool. Also, the sets (except Scorpio I guess) use printed super hero chests like the Masters- I hope each has a different design in the final version, I like the "tribal chest designs" of the Toa a lot.

Skull Scorpio is supposedly tan from some descriptions but it's lime here, I don't remember a set colour changing so drastically in the past so I'm curious to see how that is going to end up. Tan would at least make it a good parts back, otherwise.. definite skip.

I guess I'd like these sets a lot more if they didn't have so much random tr. reddish orange. Basher especially suffers from that. I'm really curious to see these at Toyfair, where they'll be shown at a much more finalized stage.

The thing that I'm most interested in is that ribcage underarmor that most of them have. It looks pretty detailed, and I'm glad they're using something else besides that HF 2.0/Breakout one finally.

How does the Scorpio look lime to you? If anything, it looks like it's tr. yellow.

I prefer the basic torso piece to this one. For one thing, it doesn't slope as abruptly, and has a proper waist. For another, it's not randomly spiky; if they wanted to make a proper ribcage they'd have to make the ribs curl inwards rather than outwards.

Remember the Pohatu incident at all?

They are 'proper' ribcages, 'cause they aren't humans so they don't have to follow the same rules of biology. But I guess that's just your opinion, though.

Yeah, but you can actually see a hint of green in that (look at the box art). In these pictures, you can't. Believe me, I checked. I would be willing to forgive a few more faults if it featured tr. neon green armor pieces.

There's a reason why the ribcage shape hasn't changed across the entire spectrum of vertebrates. While they may not need the same shapes, they need to follow the same rules. The ribcage is a logical and efficient shape for an endoskeleton. And really, if they're not supposed to look like human skeletons, why would they even look the way they do in the first place? They look like the skeletons of a completely different species than the toa, who have only just arrived, and they differ even more from the protectors.

Wow. I'm probably going to skip all of these. Very disappointing from what I can see.

I didn't say they had to look like humans, I said they didn't.

Pohatu's preliminary art looked just as yellow as this.

Actually, that circle is 100% definitely a Lego Club advertisement. You can see Club Max wearing his green shirt if you look at it sideways, and it looks just like the Club advertisements on other boxes.

You just gotta love when blurry prelim pics cause mass hysteria. As for me, I'm really, really pumped to see the final sets. A lot can change from that prototype stage to the final release (see prelim Tahu and final Tahu).

So we ARE getting the Mask of Creation and Ekimu's hammer, as well as the gold Protector mask! Nice!

Anyone know what the (most likely preliminary) golden Toa masks are supposed to represent?

Yeah, because those two have SO MANY DIFFERENCES... like... just the mask?
