Dorek Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I don't see any new promo pack being in the summer, but more likely the winter, if at all. Most dedicated lines don't get that many per year anyway, so just the one works for me. Maybe there will be a European only promo at some point, which happens. Quote

I suppose you are correct, just confused as to how fans are expected to get a Gali transparent mask. All the other Toa get a transparent mask and it would be considered odd if the only Toa not to get one was a female... Tahu; 4 mask variants (Normal, Gold, Trans-Clear, Trans-orange) Kopaka; 3 mask variants (Normal, Gold, Trans+gold) Onua; 3 mask variants (Normal, Gold, Trans+gold) Lewa; 3 mask variants (Normal, Gold, Trans+gold) Pohatu; 3 mask variants (Normal, Gold, Trans+gold) Gali; 2 mask variants (Normal, Gold) Edited February 2, 2015 by Scarilian Quote
Dorek Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 It's possible the trans-orange mask doesn't actually have the same story purpose, or any at all. Maybe Gali is the only Toa that doesn't get infected or whatever and actually saves the day. Or maybe she just doesn't get a set mask. I haven't seen Nex or Stringer in years... Quote
GK733 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) While Tahu has absolutely none transyellow pieces, save for his flame pieces on his larger swords/lavaboard. All the other toa have their corrupted/melted/whatev masks in the same secondary color as Protectors. And as trans light blue is arleady taken by Kopaka so Gali would have it the same way as the protector of water, in trans blue. So wouldn't it make sense for Tahu to have a golden mask with trans yellow as a secondary color and not in reddish orange? Edited February 2, 2015 by GK733 Quote

You both make good points, i just find it odd that Gali doesnt appear to be recieving any kind of transparent mask. I mean, if the transparent masks are a collectible and reason to purchase Slicer, Warrior, Basher and Scorpio, then the trans-mask set is incomplete I suppose you are correct though, it'll probably be explained in the story. Kalhiki Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Ironic that Gali's the only one who doesn't get a trans mask of any kind. Quote
Leewan Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 (edited) I haven't seen Nex or Stringer in years... I suppose you are correct though, it'll probably be explained in the story. Plot twist : Gali dies. :U (Because Kopaka slipped (even if he says he didn't), she tried to help him and was killed by Skull Scorpio) Anyways, I'm sure the lack of a gold+trans Mask of Fire will be explained in the story : one of the confidential prelim pics showed Tahu, wearing his golden mask, and Ekimu fighting Grinder. So if the baddies did indeed take the masks from the other Toa, this pic shows that it isn't the case for at least Tahu. Edited February 2, 2015 by Leewan Quote
Quisoves Pugnat Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I think that if we were only going to get four blended masks, the Mask of Fire would be among them. Tahu, being the red hero (no, not that sort!) is the poster-boy for BIONICLE 2015. LEGO reckons that he, and by extension, his mask will be the most attractive to consumers. Hence the two exclusive variants we've already seen. So why exclude the Mask of Fire from the Summer wave? It seems an odd business decision. It rather suggests to me that we haven't seen all of 2015's sets. As unusual as Autumn products would be, there is a precedent, if I recall correctly. The Toa Nuva were, if memory serves me, released in late summer, with an official release of September or October. 2002-story-wise, they were an epilogue. So perhaps 2015's story has three stages: 1. The Toa arrive, find golden masks, fight the Skull Spiders, etc. 2. The Toa enter the ancient city, do battle with the skull villains, awaken Ekimu, etc. 3. The Toa and Ekimu confront Makuta. Additionally, there's the size of the Summer wave. If one or two sets are being withheld until fall, that would create a certain symmetry with the Spring wave. Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Plot twist : Gali dies. :U (Because Kopaka slipped (even if he says he didn't), she tried to help him and was killed by Skull Scorpio) Anyway, I'm thinking that the Golden Masks are not infected, but perhaps too powerful? Maybe the trans-colors are showing that the mask is just melting into pure elemental energy? Or maybe LEGO just wanted to give us cool masks. Quote
Agent Fusion Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I just noticed that the trans. colours on the Skull Clan members match the colours of their respective masks. Maybe they're taking the powers directly from the masks they've stolen. Quote
PenPlays Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) Anyways, I'm sure the lack of a gold+trans Mask of Fire will be explained in the story Have we all forgotten that retailer exclusives aren't shown at the Toy Fair? No matter the Toy Fair's location? It's been a long time since a CCBS theme has gotten a retailer exclusive, yes, but it can't be ruled out just yet. Edited February 3, 2015 by Penkid11 Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 It's been a long time since a CCBS theme has gotten a retailer exclusive, yes, but it can't be ruled out just yet. IIRC, I don't think a CCBS set has ever had a retail exclusive. I'm guessing you meant Constraction in general though, since the last Constraction retailer exclusive was in 2010 (Bulk vs Vapour, which didn't use CCBS)? Anyway, for those wondering why no blended masks for Tahu and Gali, at this point in time any theory could be correct, but personally I'm in favour of getting some retail exclusives (I can never have enough new Bionicle sets, and, well, it's been a while). But also remember, the reduced size of the Bionicle summer wave may very well be explained by the apparent existence of Star Wars constraction sets (which I would have thought would have taken resources and time away from Bionicle). But that's just a guess of mine. Quote
Kalhiki Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 And there's the possibility that the gold/trans blend masks are non-canon and will have no significance at all. And they're there just because. But where's the fun in that. Quote

GK733 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 (edited) I'm a sucker for functions and usually MOC only something when I see it can implemented in the story. Why anyone hasn't given a http://shop.lego.com...Listing=listing http://shop.lego.com...er-Rescue-76016 web shooting function for LoSS? Making it larger it could be easily implemented while using a custom head. LoSS would spit out a web and advance from there to Grip and Crush! Edited February 3, 2015 by GK733 Quote

I have an example that works amazingly well, but of course not from a set. It took me a while to find it (Nuju Metru has so much great stuff- took a while to go through it!) but I found it- http://farm7.static....8e9eaf712f.jpgn and http://farm6.static...._06e2fae973.jpg It's from this series of MOCs Nuju Metru made here- http://www.eurobrick...l=+rise +wicked I've built it myself before and it works splendidly. MakutaDreadscythe Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Would need to be an opening mouth that fires the web... I suppose its possible, just complicated and parts intensive to set it up with a function. Especially if you wanted to keep the other function intact. Well judging from the animations and the set's general response is the original function even worth it? It is simple and compact parts wise but it compromises a lot of the set's size and playability. If anything it's worse than Dragon Bolt considering he was at least the size of the largest hero barring Jet Rocka. Alas, my point is if he was at a higher price point (£15-£25 or $20-$30) I do believe he could have pulled off both the size and the function. He could probably keep the aesthetic by using the super large chestplate used on Onua. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 LoSS face-plate is a bit larger relative to his body in the set than in the show, so there's some room for improvement. However, the idea of a truly massive LoSS using Onua's chestplate...wow. That'd be a $100 set for sure. Quote
Chro Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Oh man. Now I really want Onua and LOSS to try something like that. C'mon, wallet... Quote
