Oh, I'm with you! I'm no fan of Stormer XL at all. I'm just saying, to give him the benefit of the doubt, Stormer XL was a break from the norm. I was just making the point that future titan sets built upon that formula and, in hindsight, Stormer XL doesn't really hold up.

Completely agree with you. Considering Stormer was the fifth CCBS titan, and the first to introduce his own formula, he was pretty decent as a "prototype" per say. (still hideous, though  )

Wait, people disliked Stormer XL? I freaking loved that set! Well layered, cool looking, good new pieces, admittedly a bit weird in the shins, but it was a new piece so whatever... I didn't realize people disliked him =P.

Aaaanyway tomorrow is when we'll see some BIONICLE pics, yeh?

Well for sake of HF discussion I do feel that ultimately BA was a letdown compared to BO.

BO introduced a series of new molds and a launcher piece which was fairly compact and gave most sets that had it a function instead of just looking nice (Furno XL comes to mind). The heroes all had 1.0 heads which sounds lazy but gives them personality after the soulless heads of the previous year. Various traits are also shown in how they're constructed (BO Bulk vs BA Bulk) and it felt like they gave all the heroes little nuances which was nice.

BA did give us a lot of new pieces and despite the loss of the launcher did incorporate more technic functions, which was interesting though at the expense of Bruizer and Scarox (the latter of which was nothing special anyway) with only Dragon Bolt really pulling it off. The new pieces for the most part were pretty neat like the new chest piece and some of the add on pieces like those rock pieces.

However that disgusting brain piece just ruins it. I'm aware it's for plot purposes but they don't even spend that much time doing much significant in the episode (though I'm more talking about the creatures). It's so obnoxiously large and has so few connection points that doing anything effective with it requires some serious skill. It's a shame too because it ruins so many potential head pieces (Aquagon).

In fact I think someone else brought this up earlier but I'm just gonna say it. Aquagon is terribad. He's so painfully bland and uninteresting, his brain sticks out so much due to lack of a function taking space on his back and the only reason I brought him was for his swords, though to that end I wish I just picked up Laval.

I honestly think they made BA just so they could make awful brain puns.

Then again, as somebody said, it did feel like the HF designers stopped putting effort into designing sets. Just look at the BA heroes compared to the BO heroes. Or the villains. Same thing with IFB, did that really interest anyone? The novelty of mechs wore off really fast and was clearly ripping off Pacific Rim, which didn't help. Not to mention the beasts had really terrible designs, especially Splitter Beast and Queen Beast. Fortunately looks like the designers are putting effort into BIONICLE, which is good, but I fear that they may get too comfortable and design bad sets by the third year. Nobody wants the Mistika v2.

I will admit that the mechs weren't always the best, but it was due to the fact that I was such a fan of Pacific Rim that I noticed these sets. This was the line that got me into CCBS! I don't think it was terrible, just different to expected.

And BA wasn't amazing but it had some nice things about it. I rather liked Ogrum and although Bruizer was a bit pitiful to start with, I managed to get a second cheap and created a bigger one made from the two, which was worthwhile. What I mean by that is the sets might not have been brilliant but they had potential and it wasn't too bad a line.

Anyways I'm not sure we're meant to be debating the merits and flaws of the Hero factory line in the BIONICLE thread.....

Hahaha, someone already stole Skull Scorpio's mask. Anyway, I got two of the "Hero Packs" from a LEGO store yesterday, plus Onua and PoS. I'm going to have to wait with unpacking them until next week, though :hmpf_bad:. Also, I really can't understand the HF hate. Queen Beast is my favorite constraction set of all time, with a simple yet effective design that is a million miles away from the messy, unfinished-looking Technic messes that were the Bionicle titans. The color scheme was vibrant yet slightly menacing, the build features lots of articulation, including the waist articulation that everyone always screams for, and as a parts pack it's as good as they go.

Oh, I detested him. Hated the look of the entire set. He was far too much of a prototype build, his head was pathetically small for his build, the armor attachments made no sense at times (flying drone armor) etc... but it's time to talk about BIONICLE :wink:And avoid a ten-page debate on a set from 3 years ago

Hahaha, someone already stole Skull Scorpio's mask.

edit: Dat trans-purple Pakari :wub_drool:

Ah, these pics offer nothing new really but... those SW sets, while Luke is just what I feared Vader pulls it off nicely, They both seem to offer new shin shells.

Well, these are looking much better, and hooray I was right about trans-neon orange Skull Spider legs on Slicer!

Also, I'm willing to bet that Scorpio's mask appears on eBay sooner or later  But kidding aside, I don't think it actually looks that bad without it!

Also, I remember that somebody reported a tan coloured set which turned out to be incorrect. I still dream of tan to be honest, but if anything, those might be in the Star Wars constraction sets. One can hope I guess.

New general shells? And a new torso piece? Wow.

Darth Vader actually looks pretty decent. Won't be surprised if they appear in 2016 either.

Back to bonkle, it looks like Basher has two of the trans-purple bone pieces, and that Grinder has a trans-orange bone piece to extend his neck.

Skull Slicer has the smaller beast feet unfortunately. With four arms, I can't see him being very stable in terms of standing at all - it works for Skull Warrior, not so much for Skull Slicer.

Does the 'rib torso armour' look bigger now or is it just me? Definitely looks better than it did. Transparent masks look pretty decent.

wow, I had forgotten just how bad the posing at new York could be. XD

I know. Look at Basher, he's posed like he's just been struck by an invisible hammer. Same could be said with Grinder  Seriously, I could do a better job at posing those in about 5 seconds

And the more I lok at them, the more those unarmoured upper legs are irking me. I wonder how they'll look when upper and lower limbs are swapped around. And also, all that trans-orange will have to go (except on Grinder as that's his secondary colour). It looks pretty awful to me now I have had a much better look at them.

On a quick lil' detour, that Minecraft Nether set looks great!! ^-^ Anyway, back on topic. Luke looks creepy, Scorpio's still ugly, I want 90 Skull Bashers, and Ekimu's mask actually doesn't look awful in this pic. Nice! ^-^ Also, is it me, or does Skull Archer (That's what Imma call him. :P) look like his head is a bit too big?

It never had any on the back, did it?

I have more fear if it does have those ancient crawings or not...

All the pics of it we have seen are so blurry it's really hard to see.
