I chose Jungle. My favorite one along with Stone.

I was just looking at the Smyths website and I noticed that a rather random few BIONCILE sets have a couple of quid knocked off them.

I'm rather tempted by another Lewa for a tenner. Although postage just brings the total cost back to RRP.

EDIT- Noticed there a few reduced on Argos too.

Similar to Smyths just Argos have the PoS reduced and not Lewa. Which is nice as the Protector of Stone is a nice parts pack (actually all the summer wave are nice parts packs)

And on another note they have Tunneler Beast reduced (not Bionicle but still CCBS)

I've realized this post turned out to be quite a long one and doesn't have much to do with discussion but I didn't know where else to post where everyone could see to take advantage (if possible).

In terms of a movie, I'd love one, but they'd have to find a good way to do the designs. Being super-set-accurate like TLR would be good, but at the same time, I do prefer the more technorganic look of the Miramax films. I don't think the style used in the shorts would do for a full film, though, as much as I like that style.

Of they did a movie, what sort of tone do you think they'd go for?

If they do make a movie, it should be live-action with over three hours of explosions and destruction, directed by Michael Bay, and have Megan Fox star as Gali.

Jokes aside, I think a movie would be pretty cool. It would have to stay separate from The LEGO Movie universe as BIONICLE has a different style than that of System. I imagine the tone would be similar to what we're seeing with the Marvel movies nowadays. The only thing about a movie is it has to be careful in its style so people don't just see it as Transformers, it needs to be unique.

Now that I think of it, a movie could actually be pretty epic!

I would love a new movie, preferably in the style of the Miramax films. Realistically though, it would probably look like the Hero Factory films which is fine as they were a huge improvement on TLR visually speaking.

Well, LEGO, you've officially made me disinterested in the story. Makuta will be standing with the Toa on my shelf should you ever make his Mask Maker form as a set.

I think that the BIONICLE film should be an epic rock opera Broadway/Disney musical.

You forgot lame, slapstick humor and cliche dialogue!

But really, a movie would be absolutely great. The old BIONICLE films (except TLR, I ignore that one) weren't too childish and stupid. They had a good amount of "Hey, buy our products!", but also a healthy serving of story and character building.

But again, it all depends on sales. For all we know, Gen. 2 is bombing right now, and no kids are even interested in them.....Is there a way to, like, "check up" on LEGO's sales? Because I don't think I can handle BIONICLE ending again so soon.....

I dunno, last time I checked an associate from ToyFair admitted they were doing very well (I think one of the Atamaii videos).

You're right. In that video the ToyFair guy said they were selling pretty well.

Personally i hope we get an animated movie in the current style...

This.

Honestly, I'd be content if they just strung all the animations together at the end of the three-year arc in a sort of "movie". Nothing too spectacular, but it'd be nice to see them all play out consecutively.

What would make that even better is if they had a cast of voice actors and threw in some additional scenes.

Not to cast doubt into this, but i doubt a Toy Fair representative would say anything other to the media other than things to incentivise people buying things. Though i would'nt worry as price drops and offers are natural and lowering the price actually encourages people to get duplicates of sets.

Interesting you brought that up, actually working on exactly

:P

Though yeah, would love an official version eventually

I think the current art style put together with "real" animation would be an awfully nice treat.

Not to insult the animation of the shorts, of course.

I find the shorts unappealing to the point that I don't even watch them. They don't even have the feel that the flash animations of MNOG(that right?) had which I think it could compare to. If Bionicle got another movie I'm hoping for a level of seriousness. Even HF was about, repeat "about", to get live action treatment, and their sales lacked.

Grabbed LOSS at a Walmart yesterday. Working on a mod that utilizes a six shooter in his mouth to act as his web spitting feature he had in the animations. It will replace his primary grabbing function though.

When I was in a Lego Store her in Germany, I asked for how Bionicle sale

And they sad it not so good because no one knows about the new sets. There is no advertisement here in Germany, so how shall they know?

Something else was very funny: Two little boys in the Store went from theme to theme and everytime they looked in a showcase they sad "WOW" and "COOOOL" but then the went in the little corner of Bionicle, looked in the showcase where Tahu and Gali were displayed and they went away without a word :-D

So, as a big fan of Gen1 I am a little bit afraid of Bionicle Gen2 becoming a flop :-S

Aw, that's painful to hear :sceptic: I remember when I was younger, everybody was going crazy about Bionicle, not some stupid Chima like kids these days :hmpf_bad:

:cry_sad: .....At my LEGO Store, though, I saw a beautiful phenomenon: There were two boys (I assume brothers) browsing through the shelves. One was around 14, the other around 8. When they came to the BIONICLE corner, the older one said to the younger one: "You should get one of these! They used to be so cool!"

So maybe, just maybe, the new sets could get a boost in sales by older kids who used to like BIONICLE recommending the sets to their younger siblings.....In addition to the AFOL community buying them like crazy, and the extreme amounts of advertising going on. And really, we all have to remember that Gen 2 sets have only been out for two months. So really, I feel a bit better now. :classic:

Yeah, back in '03, practically every single kid had a BIONICLE set. I hope the same is true for Gen 2.....

Totally. Elementary school, 2003, kid brought in some marbles to show the class, kept them in a Bohrok Kal canister.

I think I'm going to go weep in a corner for my childhood, be right back. ç.ç

So.

I just read that someone thinks the set designers 'should have had someone with basic knowledge of colour theory', and that some of the Toa's/Protector's colour schemes are 'downright awful'', with the most egregious example being Pohatu. Now, I'm not sure how true that is. But I don't particularly think Pohatu's colour scheme is that terrible. It actually works rather well. It's not lime, and it's a very interesting and eye-catching (IMO) colour scheme. Removing the neon green would make Pohatu so much more boring to look at, IMO.

Which brings up another point, actually!

Sometimes I see 'revamps', and I just sometimes think... that's not a revamp. This is why you're not a set designer. As in, I feel they missed the point of the set entirely, if there ever is a 'point' to sets.

Along with all that, I don't get why people would prefer Onua to have his gold become silver. IMO, Onua would look better with gunmetal (goes with the black and the purple) or just gold (because of the purple and black) due the presence of purple. I feel that purple meshes with gold far better than silver does. Gold and purple is eye-catching, IMO, far more than purple and silver.

Same deal with Kopaka's gold. I think changing it to white or silver makes him look a heck of a lot more boring. It kind of seems that to bonkle fans, any more than three colours is heresy, even if sometimes four or even five colours can look better than just three colours.
