July 20, 201410 yr I mentioned that on the previous page as a far out possibilty, but, now that I know it could be possible, I actually would rather that they be Matoran than Turaga. A Jaller reboot would be awesome... All of my this! Even if we don't get the Mahri, I'd at least like their Matoran forms to come back. Although... Matoro might be awkward, what with him being dead in the original timeline and all.
July 20, 201410 yr I find it rather curious no one talked about the Earth Defender who, according to the last chronicler, wears a purple mask. I think it's the reason I immediately thought of Matoran- Onepu anyone? Maybe that's what the Defenders will be. Homages to the McDonald's Matoran. That way they won't have to make new mask molds since they'd be recolours of the ones Tahu and the others wear. And mask recolours is something I'm always fine with.

Homages to the McToran sounds cool, minus the fast food chain deal presumably as that has gotten less and less likely over the years (last time we had CUPS based off of TLM).
July 20, 201410 yr Macku had a Huna, not a Kaukau. We'd probably get Hahli over Macku, though, considering that she ended up being a much more recognised character, and she does have a Kaukau. Though speaking of Macku and poorly-made fakes, I can remember a rumour that got a mild following on Youtube in mid-08, claiming that the maker of the video had been leaked (presumably through their uncle who works at Lego and Nintendo) the identities of next year's "Toa", who would be version of the Chronicler's Company. While it was fake, it would've been nice to get some recolours of the Metru's masks, like the Great Ruru in red, the Great Huna in blue, etc.
July 21, 201410 yr Looking at the picture of the display (again). Looks like some of the Toa have the 2.0 torso shell for leg armor (think Furno XL). This makes me worried about how tall they're going to be. That piece is fairly long, so the legs would have to be long enough to utilize them. Which, in turn, means a larger figure. :/ Unless I'm completely wrong and it's a totally new piece, which isn't out of the question. At this point I think I'm mostly worried about how the sets will look.
July 21, 201410 yr Wow. I just got back from a week long camping trip, and when I saw this thread had 300+ posts since then, I knew something else must have come up. now I must say like dorek, I'm not 100% convinced quite yet. But it has made me a bit more hopeful. With that said, let me touch on a few things I missed throughout the week. On the topic of the Toa Mata coming back, I'm all for it. The set names almost sound like a prequel to me, but I'm kind doubtful that would happen. I'm just hoping they don't reboot it and throw out all the old story. On the topic of more gender diversity throughout the elements, I think that could work very well. A lot of times I'll compare bionicle to the last air bender since they both have a lot to do with elements and tribes. I think a toph like toa of stone or an azula like villain of fire(or maybe lightning) would be awesome. On the topic of the height of the figures, I grew up with the piraka and inika, so that's not something that ever bothered me, I personally really liked the phantoka/mistika versions of the nuva, so I welcome the new taller figures, but I understand why many would be disappointed. So in a nutshell, IF bionicle comes back with the new mata/nuva, I'll be a happy camper.
July 21, 201410 yr Wow, that was a very long read. I read all these posts and I would like to write down my opinions on the subjects you guys discussed. 1. I would love to see the return of bionicle. I only heard of it around the time of the glatorians, when I first got into Legos. I was a bit late to get started with this series as it ended rather abruptly. I did look back through the story though and I bought a couple of barrakis off eBay (I thought they were the coolest) so I do know a bit about bionicles. 2. I'm not really bothered about the gender stuff because as I said, I never really got into bionicles, so it would make no difference to me (although kopaka is too manly to not be a man). 3. The end of hero factory. Now, this is quite saddening to me, as I loved hero factory and I have bought every single set since 2.0. I think it would also be dissapointing if they never finish those cliffhangers(although I know they had plenty of time to do so). Well, those are my thoughts on the subject. Though a question did pop into my head whilst reading this. What if it's the return of the bionicle world with new characters instead of the ones we all know?
July 21, 201410 yr It's a possibility we've considered, but the figure in the display looks very much like Tahu. There are also leaked set names that would seem to suggest we're getting the toa mata. (though these names are of course unconfirmed). No that new characters would bother me, I enjoyed the bara magna arc when it introduced entirely ne characters.
July 21, 201410 yr If the original Toa do come back, I hope that they're in their Mata forms. I always thought that looked much better than their Nuva or Karda Nui forms
July 21, 201410 yr If the original Toa do come back, I hope that they're in their Mata forms. I always thought that looked much better than their Nuva or Karda Nui forms As far as the sets are concerned, they're going to be in entirely new forms. But they might be meant as new depictions of previous forms, the same way the Stars version of Tahu was a new depiction of his Toa Mata form rather than a depiction of an entirely new form.
July 21, 201410 yr Agreed on the Mata. The Nuva just didn't do anything for me, and the Phantoka/Mistika were just too far from what we had before. Mata forms are and always will be the best. I doubt we'll get figures that look like the Mata, but similarities would be nice. I just hope they have weapons reminiscent of the Mata Toa Tools. I felt they were kind of iconic and gave them all personality. Gali had her hooks, Onua had his claws, etc. But from what we've seen, some appear to have some sort of staff-like weapon. Granted, we haven't seen all the figures, so there's still a possibility. At least it seems Tahu will have his Firesword...
July 22, 201410 yr ^ The image we have now seems to imply that Tahu will have his Nuva Mask. I hope they might combine of the Toa's past forms to produce a new variant with the best parts of each. Edited July 22, 201410 yr by Master_Data
July 22, 201410 yr In the picture, Lewa's mask is most certainly similar the Mata version. Same with Kopaka's Akaku on the bottom. Tahu's mask is also CGI, so it could just look different because of the style of computer generation. Also, a reboot is the most likely. As Greg has stated multiple times, if Bionicle were to return it wouldn't be a continuation, since it would require new fans to read up on 9 years of story.
July 22, 201410 yr ^ The image we have now seems to imply that Tahu will have his Nuva Mask. I hope they might combine of the Toa's past forms to produce a new variant with the best parts of each. I... Fail to see the Hau Nuva in the box display picture. I see a mouth/mustache ridge that seems to swoop around to the eyebrows. And it even looks like it has the forehead slit that the regular Hau has and the Hau Nuva lacks. Not to mention, the overall silhouette seems to indicate the Hau. The picture has a more rectangular shape to it with a rounded top as opposed to the fat cheeks of the Hau Nuva. So if they're going to homage any of the original sets, it'll be the Mata versions. At least for Tahu. But if Tahu is in his Mata form, I don't see why the others wouldn't as well. It would just seem awkward otherwise.
July 22, 201410 yr Do we know where this series will be set? I'm thinking a jungle with azteca temples like Indiana jones did

July 22, 201410 yr I meant this wave, not the whole series Sorry about that :P Having said that, if it is a reboot, then probably the island of Mata Nui...
July 22, 201410 yr Sorry about that :P Having said that, if it is a reboot, then probably the island of Mata Nui... very annoyance, much facepalm
July 22, 201410 yr Hoping for some new bone recolours, like orange or lime. And if the Mata colour schemes are mostly kept, I wonder if Gali will get azure as her secondary colour..they don't seem to use her light blue shade anymore, at least for constraction. image isn't there. was that the same one we had earlier, or a new one? This.. I don't recall seeing a clearer pic. And I certainly can't make out any details of Lewa's mask. To be fair though, since we mistook him for a Skakdi, I'd say this might be a good indication that the Miru's legendary smile is coming back. Edited July 22, 201410 yr by Shakar
July 22, 201410 yr And if the Mata colour schemes are mostly kept, I wonder if Gali will get azure as her secondary colour..they don't seem to use her light blue shade anymore, at least for constraction. I would not mind if Gali got a brighter color like Medium Azur as her secondary color. Her secondary color was always one of the less vibrant ones. I was thinking about something earlier. It's a bit odd how each of the Toa has both a name AND a title ("Tahu: Master of Fire", etc), but the "Defender" sets just have titles with no names. Do you think maybe it's possible that the "Defender" sets might be Matoran with non-specific masks and identities? As in, each "defender" would have a standardized build and color scheme but a random mask? There's not a whole lot of precedent for this sort of thing. When individual parts in a set are randomized, it usually means all the variants that might come in a particular set are treated as the same element — so, for example, all eight Krana shapes would come off the same mold and share the same Design ID, and every one of a particular color would share the same Element ID. The same is true of all 2012–2013 Hero Cores that share a particular point value. However, it'd be an interesting possibility, offering both a way for kids to collect masks and a way for designers to create a diverse population of Matoran. The back of each package could maybe show names and pictures of the various Matoran the set might contain. As a bonus, unlike mask packs, each "Defender" set would have built-in play value, since it'd include a full figure and not just accessories for one of the larger figure sets. July 22, 201410 yr Aanchir, that's a very good idea, and it would be cool to see something like that. Moreover, as I speculated in the gender topic, something like that would be a good way to increase the line's appeal to people who are interested in portraying day-to-day life, making it more accessible/appealing to girls (according to the research). I'd rather see random masks in the Matoran sets themselves (if they are Matoran) than in separate mask packs.

Sounds awesome, but maybe have two masks in each set, just so someone who is only getting one of each colour hopefully won't end up with two having dupes. I can remember being ticked that my Kohrak-Kal had the same Krana as my previously-obtained Pahrak-Kal, and you can't even see the Krana in them (Though in fairness, it was partially because the Bohrok-Kal comics already showed that Kohrak-Kal had Krana Su-Kal). Also, if the Matoran end up being specific characters, who would you like to see come back? Personally, I want Jaller, Hahli, and Kongu. I'm not too sure about Matoro. He's my favourite character, but maybe bringing him back wouldn't work so well?
