I find the Skull Spider legs are excellent when it comes to making fingers on large creations. For example, I used some in this mecha of mine. Don't know why, but I think the shape is just right for a finger with a large claw.

Alternatively, a large quantity of them combined with certain shells that can accept clip attachments could make an excellent and rather sinister looking spiky back or armoured "throw" (or something like that). In fact, that's given me an idea, but I'm not sure if I can bring myself to dismember 25 Skull Spiders to try it yet (that's how many I've amassed)

Also reminds me, I need to get some more shelves up so I actually have a space to display my Toa/Protectors/Skull Villains, as my CCBS models shelf is completely full...

But that's exactly the problem. Von Nebula is a shell - he's nothing. He's driven by burning hatred for Stormer, yet for no actual reason. He's a tryhard failure looking to blame everyone else for his problems and when he can't get his way, he throws a tantrum and swears revenge. He has no actual reason to hate Stormer other than what he (Von Nebula) did himself. He assembles a small army of villains (and eventually a giant one if that's how you interpreted Breakout) but to accomplish what? Petty revenge? What's going to change? He bases every ounce of anger and hatred on a facade of a person and never actually stops to do some actual thinking about his life of crime. Sure, he has nowhere to go after he made a fool of himself, but that's about it. He doesn't even try to make up for his mistakes, he just insists that the only way is to kill Stormer. His motive is so flawed at its core that he's like the Joker, he has no reason to do what he does, except that the Joker is psychotic and Von Nebula is completely sane.

In short, he's stupid, illogical, hot-tempered, a traitor, and not even worth the five minutes of screen time he had. He's so boring that filler characters like Captain Soto and his pirates from NINJAGO were far more entertaining to watch.

edit: To clarify, when I said "facade of a person" I meant the false construct of Stormer he had in his mind.

Everything you just described about Von Nebula is what makes him so interesting to me. He is a profoundly flawed character who projects his own character flaws onto others and is more interested in vindicating his own grudge than in attaining power (which he already has in spades). And his grudge is not just against Stormer, but against a world that, in his eyes, rewards self-indulgent recklessness — because the idea of selflessness, the idea that a person like Stormer would put their own life at stake for any reason other than fame and prestige, is an alien concept to him.

He doesn't try to make up for his mistakes because he is completely in denial about the fact that he did anything wrong. And yes, he is insane — but not wildly irrational and psychotic like the Joker, because things like denial and obsession can exist even without that level of crazy.

Create an Iron Throne?

But seriously though, there's a few uses for them (most have nothing to do with CCBS). Painted brown they could be tree roots or in green, vines. Upside down, if you were to recreate the Pyro from TF2 they would do great as the igniter for the flamethrower. With a little ingenuity, you could use them as handcuffs or restraints of some kind. Maybe even something like Skull Slicer's chain claw.

I must go make Bionicle Fortress 2 a reality now. BUTTERCREAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!

Not sure if this is new, but on the BIONICLE website, each episode has a few screenshots below it. It's nothing special, but at least I now have a new wallpaper.......

My problem with Von Nebula (and most of the other villains) is that these traits, and the characters themselves, are never really explored. Like someone else said, we are told that they have these traits, but they are rarely displayed, and so every villain just blends into a generic bad-guy.

And his grudge is not just against Stormer, but against a world that, in his eyes, rewards self-indulgent recklessness

.....Which is why he specifically targeted Stormer, and practically did no damage to anything else at the end of Rise of the Rookies.

And exactly when was anyone other than Stormer or Furno actually in danger of said black hole? The black hole doesn't even kill people, it only transports or traps them.

But it's a Magic Black Hole Staff! Ooooooo! With whimsy! Von Nebula probably has like multiple settings on that thing... huh maybe he can use it as an egg beater - super swirly-blades go!

Anyways, back to Bonkles! I have been buying extra Protector sets to make some Villagers. When the Summer sets come out I plan on Buying 5 Skull Warriors and Skull Scorpios. Also want 3 Skull Bashers and Skull Slicers. WoooooooOooooo!!!! 2 Spooky....

Has anyone else bought extra sets for the sake of an army: Skrall, Bohrok, Vahki, Visorak?

Seriously, 25 skull spiders? How?

Oops, I really can't count today! I haven't got 25 (yet). I've actually got 19 so far. 6 of each colour (I am quite OCD about how I must have the same number of each colour, I had the same attitude towards HF jumpers and cocoons), plus added legs to the gold Skull Spider mask to create a sort of "ultimate" Skull Spider. I amassed them (beyond the 12 you'd get by having all the Toa and Protectors) by buying doubles of the sets and buying them from Bricks and Pieces (they're about £1.50 each for the mask and 4 legs).

I am now curious as to whether anybody has amassed really big Skull Spider armies to make mine look pathetic in comparison...

EDIT: I just thought - I still have my BFTGM sets sealed, if I count the Skull Spiders sealed within those, then yeah I do have 25

I ended up with three Keerakh in 2004, but that was a case of duplicate gifts and not intentional. While I have more recently entertained the idea of acquiring another full wave of Bohrok, I figured it wasn't worth it. I buy System sets too and can't justify spending all my LEGO-dedicated money on Bionicle.

I just realized something, we need a Bionicle 2015 official guidebook.

I've heard that the story will be mainly in the form of books, so I'd be surprised if one of these doesn't pop up soon. If not Bionicle '15, then at least 2016 or 2017.

3 Skrall, and 2 Skrall stars. :P But I have since disassembled them.

In HF on the other hand, duplicates with the sake of army building in mind:

2 Raw-Jaw

2 Fangz

2 Pyrox

2 Bruizer

and 2 Scarox.

Hey, that's perfectly fine. I guess I'm not really on the same wavelength as you regarding Von Nebula, I just never really got on board with his backstory. Then again, I never really liked any of HF's villains aside from some of the personality traits of Black Phantom and Fire Lord.

In terms of Bionicle, hardly ever, unless buying multiple sets for Skull Spiders counts. I have also got 2 LOSS (one built from parts in my collection). The only Gen1 Bionicle I ever bought several multiples of was Takadox (I ended up with 6 or even 7, but he was my favourite character and I ended up with a whole "family" of him. Don't ask me why  ). I did hear of someone who once bought 20 Skrall for the sake of an army though.

I did army build with HF quite a bit more often though, at a time where it wasn't uncommon for me to buy several multiples of those sets, even named characters. I even bought 5 Black Phantoms throughout 2012 (again, don't ask me why).

Nowadays, I hardly ever army build unless it's fairly cheap to amass, such as the Skull Spiders.

Nice! Though for some episodes I think only 3 screenshots were too little...

Oh, and the character list in episode 6 doesn't have LOSS, so tose four eyes might be Skull Grinder after all  (but then again, neither does it have the Protectors or the Skull Spiders, and they certainly show up)

Not really; I prefer to have a complete collection over an army, and I have to save money for TFs too (though for those I only worry about the screen-accurate figures, otherwise I have neither budget nor space for them). Most of my repeats are combination sets like Ultimate Dume and Irnakk, or gifts I got repeated that had no exchange ticket (it did allow me to keep both a Zyglak and the Barraki on display...)

So, when do you think we'll visit the Temple of Time? Maybe that´s where Ekimu really is?

The only time I ever buy multiples is for parts, and even then I'll only buy sets on clearance. I think the most duplicate sets I got was three Rocka XLs (one for the collection, two for MoCing).

Though I was tempted to get another set of 2015 Toa after building my versions of Akamai and Wairuha. Speaking of which, I should upload those pictures...

Yeah I only tend to buy multiples for parts. I have an extra Chirox, Gresh, Tarduk, Kiina, Ackar and Vorox due to duplicate presents, an extra Protector of Stone I ordered for the Hero Pack (with parts in mind), and an extra Furno XL and Dragon Bolt for parts purposes.

I usually never buy multiples of any set, since my budget just doesn't allow for it (I'm a LEGO Star Wars collector, and buying one wave of those sets would cost, like $400)........But I'll make an exception for the BIONICLE winter wave! Really, the pieces are just so amazing, especially in the Protector sets. And my self-MOC is hungry for new parts..... :moar:

But I never understood the appeal of "parting out" sets. I can't bring myself to destroy any sets in my collection--including System sets.

Me too! Except for that I'm collecting the new-er canon sets, and not the Old Republic/Early Empire ones. Edited by MonkeyChud

I bought one of the Pirakas three times because he was just 2€ each, and I also bought Gelu, Stronius and Ackar twice, though they were also on clearance (at least Stronius and Ackar), oh, and I bought a second Surge 2.0 sometime but I had completely forgotten about him until recently.

In short, I do buy multiples, but usually only when they're on clearance or when they have super-useful parts. I'm a pure MOCist, so most sets I buy will be eventually taken apart.

Well since I stared the "multiple set/army topic", I guess that I should through in my two cents.

Tuma's Legion: 5 Skrall, 2 Stronius, 2 Skrall Stars

Mallums scouts: 3 Vorox

Hero Factory Brain Attack: 3 Pyrox, 3 Ogrums, 3 Bruizers, 3 Scarox, 3 Frost Beasts, 3 Aquagons, 2 Dragon Bolts, and 8 Black Brain promos. WOW That's a lot of Brains!

All of the Sets have been taken apart but the Brains are still on my shelf; They still technically count as villains IMO...

I have already bought the complete wave. So far I have bought an extra Gali and Lewa, and I eventually plan to definitely get an extra PoF, PoS, and PoE. I am considering whether or not to grab a second LOSS. I can't afford to get a duplicate copies of every set, but what I have gotten so far has been good for parts.

That reminds me - I had over 20 Brain Attack Brains at some point also (if I forgot them first time round, then I guess that makes them really unmemorable  ). I know I had at least 2 of each colour. I can only recall where 9 of them are right now though, the rest seem to have got lost

Off topic, but maybe we need a "show your Action Figures armies" topic...
