I originally wanted to get 9 PoE-s so as to combine them into a giant glyptodont monster. Instead, I'm just ordering their rare parts via Bricks and Pieces. Much cheaper.

Posted

I ended up with 2 lewa phantoka and 2 krika mistika due to gifts. Maybe also 2 strakk, I forget. I'm considering getting more Pohatu's or PoSs just so I can have enough brown to moc something of meaningful size with it.

Posted

So I'll be getting the Hero Pack in a week or so, along with the grwy 48x48 stud baseplate and brick separator.

Yes, that's correct. I didn't buy any BIONICLE sets to get it with.

Posted

I plan on getting 2 more Pohatu's and a second MM vs SG to make my Skull Centaur moc, and 2 or 3 more PoF's and a duplicate Tahu and Skull Warrior for another moc using the two gatling guns in the chest. I thought of Heavyarms Gundam when looking at the new Protector shooter, so that is my second moc idea. :P

Great news everyone! The box art for the summer sets tells a story of how the Toa get through the Ancient City. Each one gets closer and closer to the Anvil (or whatever that place is going to be called) until the artwork depicts the inside of the Anvil.

By the looks of things, Pohatu or Lewa will fall first (hard to tell the distance). Kopaka will then be defeated, and at the steps towards the Anvil Onua will be defeated. Then on the inside of the Anvil, Skull Grinder and Ekimu have their battle after Tahu forgets what he's doing and accidentally wakes up Ekimu, killing Gali in the process Tahu or Gali make their way inside.

The first part of your post I pointed out a few pages ago. :P As for the second part that's some crazy speculation you got going. XD

Where's this coming from?

The box art for the Summer sets. Skull Scopio is featured at the gates to the city, Skull Slicer is featured on a cliff in/outside the city, Skull Warrior is near a monument inside the city, and Skull Basher. There's a clear progression through the sets.

Is it really? Why are there hands outstretched reaching for the "infected" masks then? The Toa fall one by one to their respective villains as they enter the city. Believe it or not, LEGO has done stories like this once or twice in the past (in similar settings too, funnily enough) so it's not out of the question.

But it could just as easily be the Toa retrieving their masks one by one from their respective villains as they enter the city. We don't know until TLG tells us so.

Oh, thought you were talking about the comics that are included on the boxes.

Look at the perspective. It's a hand grasping from the lower corner, hardly a "I CAN ALMOST FEEL THE POWER!" stance but more similar to just having had their tails kicked by the villains and reaching for their mask as a last desperate attempt.

Wow... I hadn't even thought about the box comics for Summer. I wonder what they're going to be like...

I just doubt that they would kill off all of the Toa this early on. And also, that's pretty dark: ALL of the Toa die in the Ancient City, being brutally murdered by zombies? We were barely able to handle when Matoro died, and you want each of the original Toa to fall? :sceptic:

They're not infected...

They're funmetal.

Finally, someone who understands! But really, I don't think the masks are infected......What if the gold is melting off, exposing raw elemental energy which gives the Toa even more power? So, for example, the trans-Hau gives Tahu a complete control over fire, and he becomes a.....Fire Lord? Wait, no.....

EDIT: I just realized what I said: Toa are exposed to energy, which gives them more power and new forms......And just a few pages back, I was complaining about the Toa Nuva.

Sounds like the Ninjago episode where Lloyd defeated the Overlord. As the ninja traveled up the tower, they kept losing teammates until only Lloyd was left to fight the Overlord, because Zane & Cole were evil-fied and Kai was holding off Nya. I'm going to guess that Tahu ends up being the Toa who helps Ekimu, while Gali holds off the Skull Villains.

Keep in mind they can only show the hand. If they show more of a Toa to create a more realistic pose, some people may think a representation of the Toa is included in the set. And it's hard to say what kind of pose a character has just based on their outstretched hand.

You could be right of course, and the Toa could fall as they approach the MoCr. I simply doubt that idea because 1) things like that never happened in Gen 1 and 2) because of the Toas' "WE'RE STRONGER WHEN UNITED!" exercise while fighting LoSS.

Can we please not call the dual color Toa Masks funmetal? The whole joke was that funmental was an easy typo error from gunmental; applying the term to something else just makes that confusing and unfunny.

Just got the rest of the sets. The toa are amazing. They all have a distinct physique which matches their character, they all pose super well (with the exception of Lewa's head), and the new masks look really cool (except perhaps lewa and onua). The protectors are also very solid for small sets, though the cutting corners on the arms is annoying in some of them.

It's not BIONICLE...

It's Hero Factory,

"Defeat" =/= "Death"

Considering we had 3 years of HF sets with villains/heroes lurking in the background and all the Toa but Gali have LOSS creeping around in their boxart somewhere...

Things like Ekimu, or the Ancient City never happened in Gen 1 either. The Toa actually staying united for any lengthy period of time was apparently a rare occurrence as well (or so I'm told).

Agreed--although, sadly, the Bionicle fandom seems to be known for its unwillingness to let the smallest typo or fake leak go. After all, people are still saying "Omega Tahu" now, years after it outstayed its welcome.

And yet Voriki has been here for nearly 15 years and gets hailed like a hero.

I know there's a BIONICLE fanfic about a guy called Voriki, but... who is Voriki?

Why, the OG 7th toa of energy....

Ahem, MASTER of Energy now

In reality, he was the first fake set image for Bionicle, purported to be the 7th toa.

Hey, I remember that mask! Wasn't it placed over a cgi image of a Mata set or something like that?
