Kalhiki Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I wonder if we'll even get to find out the Toa's origins in these three years. If not, I full expect the first three years to be the big MoUP hunt, and then later years to be the Toa going off to discover their origins. Quote
Scarilian Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 For the story my theory is along the lines of a massive 'hunt for the masks' plotline over the first three years, each year having a different mask and introducing a different main hero or villain set. Maybe if we have more than three years then we'd have the Toa use the three masks to return from the time which they were summoned or something. 2015 - Ekimu + Mask of Creation 2016 - Makuta + Mask of Control 2017 - Mask Of Power demonic being + Mask Of Ultimate Power But somehow I think they might be unlikely. I've no idea where Bionicle 2016 will take us next to be honest Guessing that it would be warriors, using the new leg piece we see on Darth Vader's set. Other than that not sure Quote
TheOneVeyronian Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Guessing that it would be warriors, using the new leg piece we see on Darth Vader's set. Other than that not sure That sounds perfectly plausible and I'd be up for that, as long as the shin guards (I think that's the piece you're referring to?) don't turn out to be pointlessly tied to the Star Wars license (reminds me, I was once told by LEGO that this part in lime was tied to license and they couldn't sell it). It'd be a great way to get the part in new colours. I'm hoping they make it in blue and red so I can use them on my sigfigs. The only thing is: those shin guards don't look very Bionicle-esque to me, not that it would bother me much of course Quote
Scarilian Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) IT BEGINS! Hunt For The Masks 2 Soon :3 True, i was more going under the belief that they will probably give them away because of how much making masks out of gold costs, having them sit around is unbeneficial to LEGO. Though you raise a good point with the gold haus, maybe we wont see the other masks given away... Despite Star Wars being a popular line, i doubt that new pieces introduced will solely be for that line, so we'll probably get a few new pieces from that line used in the new Bionicles. I remember a reddit user mentioned possibly seeing some sets and provided images of new pieces including a new launcher, but nothing to back-up his claims yet so that might not be legitimate. Shakar Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 (reminds me, I was once told by LEGO that this part in lime was tied to license and they couldn't sell it) That's really odd.. back when they were still in stock, you could buy all of Green Lantern's exclusive bright green parts. Still, I know that rule exists, otherwise I would've already bought from them a few licensed minifigs I really want (and probably a small army of LOTR elves+Thranduil )... and those awesome Smaug wings that I can't find from Bricklink (there's the right one available for 12 euro, but still). Yeah, that was back in 2012. That one I mentioned struck me as the oddest, because that piece is only a very vague representation of Hulk's fists (about the only reason why that part would be classed as licensed)... at the same time, I was able to order a bucketload of Captain America's shin guards (red ones) without any problems. So I think it's safe to say what is and what isn't tied to license in Constraction is very... random, to say the least. Even if the licensed parts rule didn't exist, you probably wouldn't be able to buy parts like Smaug's wings from Bricks and Pieces anyway. My rule of thumb is that if the piece comes in a separate bag in the set, Bricks and Pieces likely won't stock it for purchase. Case in mind, the Chima ultrabuild heads. 3 years ago that was different, but that's what it's like nowadays. Don't get me wrong, I'd love an extra pair of Smaug's wings, but £45 for another Smaug off BL just to harvest the wings is something I just can't do. Neither can I bring myself to dismember my own Smaug for his wings to use in a Constraction MOC Yeah, the shin guards. This is what I'm hoping for, I also doubt they'll be used solely in Star Wars figures and it wouldn't make sense if they didn't stick them in a Bionicle set or three anyway. Stranger things have happened though Quote
Walter Kovacs Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Was it a new polybag, different from the Trans-Mask of Fire?!? Unfortunately no Bionicle polybags. City, Chima and Elves polybags, though. Sorry for the confusion. Quote

Stranger things have happened though That is true. Lego never sells capes either, like Furno XL's for example (I assume it's the same for Fangar's). I guess it's a bit too troublesome to ship them. Also, I found the left wing on BL. Now I'm wondering if I should buy them both or wait for a better price.. 22 Euro for two pieces (non-exclusive ones that is, I spent a small fortune on the clear Hau ) is a bit hard to justify. As for the SW shin armour piece, according to that 4chan anon who supposedly saw the sets, the "Toa Ekimu" set is using it. It looks like a cool piece so I wouldn't mind it appearing again, and the "we can't use pieces from licensed set" policy might not apply: it's certainly not a distintctive element from the franchise, unlike, say, the light saber. And, completely unrelated but: is anyone else curious to try the silver torso bone from the Skull Guys on the Toa (well, except Onua of course, though there's the dark bley torso from Stormer XL that might suit him)? Kopaka and Gali, for example, have far less black in their builds than the other 4, so I'm wondering if a silver torso (which matches the heads, among other things) would suit them. Quote
Dorek Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 So yeah, how about that golden mask giveaway. Which one do you guys think they'll give away? I know they focused on the Kakama for most of the episode, but it could be anything really. Quote

I know they focused on the Kakama for most of the episode, but it could be anything really. Guessing they will give away the most recogniseable mask, which is probably the Hau. Then again, they may end up giving out them all in various ways throughtout the year. This is what I'm hoping for, I also doubt they'll be used solely in Star Wars figures and it wouldn't make sense if they didn't stick them in a Bionicle set or three anyway. Stranger things have happened though True, seeing the Star Wars sets has given me a re-invisioned hope that 2016's sets will perhaps combine CCBS with Technic more effectively. The Darth Vader figure for example looks how i would desire a Titan scale new Bionicle. Guessing the leg pieces will be in other sets Quote

I don't think it's a matter of shipping them, but rather possibly the country they were produced in (I think). Bagged and fabric parts are, I believe, produced in China, and it's these parts that are unavailable via BnP. But I'm just guessing, I probably think too much. Out of curiosity, how much did you end up paying for your clear Hau? I've been trying to get one for months at a decent price, but it's always my country's absurd and very strict customs charges (not to mention the extraordinarily high shipping that seems to exist on eBay) that limit the maximum I can spend on it to just £15, which I know is impossible As for the SW shin armour piece, according to that 4chan anon who supposedly saw the sets, the "Toa Ekimu" set is using it. You know, I vaguely remembered it's mention right after I posted that, but I'll take that with a huge vat of salt until leaks start to emerge. Also, minifig lightsaber pieces aren't even bound by the licensed part rule, so thinking of it that way, they've got to appear elsewhere. Unless of course you're talking about the Constraction sized lightsabers, in which case that will probably be bound by licensed part rule. As for this most recent Mask giveaway: if the only way of getting involved is via Facebook or Twitter or whatever other social media site like that, then count me out Edited March 27, 2015 by TheOneVeyronian Quote

If it was another contest, I'd be a little more interested, but a giveaway seems kind of pointless. Quote
Dorek Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 It might very well be a contest of sorts, but not necessarily a building one. They might have you solve trivia, or something of the like. In which case I should probably excuse myself, but if it's a straight giveaway I'm totally going for it. Quote
Clone 01354 Productions Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 (edited) I hope this isn't a MOCing contest, since I'm just a beginner MOCer......BTW the narrator's voice was epic in that video. Also, in the video, the designer did confirm that Gali is a girl. Who knew! Edited March 28, 2015 by LN-01354 Quote
dviddy Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Definitely won't be a building contest. Last I checked all seven remaining masks will be given out somehow. But only the one building contest. Quote
Takanuinuva Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) What if the Solid gold mask of creation is hidden in one of the Mask Maker vs Skull Grinder sets that will be release in the summer? Edit: Actually that might be a bad idea cause then scalpers will pick up a lot of the sets trying to find the mask. Then again was there any scalper problems when the Vahki (Golden Vahi) or Bohrok Kal (VMKK/ SSKK) had rare collectibles Edited March 28, 2015 by Takanuinuva Quote
Toa of Gallifrey Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Not sure how that'd work, since a solid gold piece would make the box feel heavier. Quote
Kalhiki Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Whatever it is, I just hope it's fair. Doesn't need to be a big competition. In other news, couldn't help myself; picked up two Onua today at Target. Couldn't pass up two for the price of one. Quote
Takanuinuva Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 Does gold really weigh that much? I don't think a small mask would make that much difference in weight. gold or not. Quote

Mandate Posted March 28, 2015 Posted March 28, 2015 (edited) Same here. BTW, it's funny that the recent discussion revolved around how we might get nothing new before August when the ninth episode will (officially) be out, and today, bam, they announce a mask giveaway. Uh... I always brought up the idea that we might get another Mask giveaway/competition. And I think it's reasonable to doubt the ninth episode officially releasing in August Anyway, if there was only one building competition, good. They're fun, but they can really divide the community between the have and the have-nots. EDIT: Just bought Pohatu, Protector of Stone and LOSS, completing my Winter collection (except for the Hero Pack ). My thoughts on them: Pohatu: Bit bland. Love the Kakama, love the chestpiece. They did a great job making the burnt orange still feel like his main color despite there being more silver. Boomerang shoes aren't exactly the best, Gali's fins work a lot better than them. I wish they had have made his gear box work for both arms, and that his 3M silver shells had been a more traditional cream. Would have done wonders for his looks, and been a real throwback to his Gen 1 Mata and Nuva forms. PoS: Awesome, fave of the Protectors. Blue eyes are out of place, but give a good amount of pop to differentiate them from the rest of the set. His mask is glorious, and the pepper grinder of death is amazing. His legs have some issues with posing, and like Pohatu he probably should have had cream colored 3M shells in place of silver ones. LOSS: Like him better than I thought I would, he's bigger than I thought he'd be, and not as awful as I thought he would be. He's still my least favorite, and I don't think added posability would change that. Going to mod him once I get enough of the stand-alone ball pieces so he's got proper legs. His mask is out of place, and I actually like his chest-face. Golden mask is out of place, though. Edited March 28, 2015 by Mandate Quote
