Lord-Vorahk Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Personally not a fan of RWBY's animated style which has prevented me seeing more than a couple of episodes of the show It has its issues, but the animation has been improving a lot. Season 2 opens with a gloriously-well-choreographed food fight. In terms of applying RT stuff to Bonkle, I'd love to see some of the RvB Season 8 fights with Epsilon-Tex and/or Meta in Bonkle style Quote
Scarilian Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) It's a bit of a stretch to say DeeVee (apologies, I'm still not sure how to refer to you?) was targeting Makuta. That's how an argument works, one person speaks, the other then speaks, then the first person that spoke speaks again and so on until the conflict is resolved. If DeeVee was targetting Makuta, this would have been an ongoing series of attacks rather than a single discussion over whether or not the new animation style is "cheap" (which it isn't). DeeVee is not targeting Makuta at all, he's simply responding to an ongoing series of claims made by Makuta. If DeeVee were to be targeting anyone, it would be demonstrably visible in an ongoing series of isolated incidents between him and another user (which this is not). As i said, didnt want to get into this. Already reported it and hopefully it will be dealt with, i just could'nt sit here and watch a user experience such rudeness and have everyone else side with the abuser. This is not something that should be occuring at all, it is clearly directed at the member now and not the opinion as he calls the member a jerk and generally doesnt value him as an equal member of the community. My comment was just asking for less personal targetting of members. DeeVee could have responded more nicely to the user in any of his comments, yet ends up claiming MakutaOfWar is a jerk. At the moment your comment is generally supporting that calling members jerks is acceptable, maybe you didnt realise he said that which is why i'm giving you benefit of the doubt, but that is the stance you've took in this comment. It seems DeeVee's comments to MakutaOfwar come across as the following; "You can have an opinion, but yours is wrong because you used a random term. Using this term justifies me calling you a jerk and not being respectful to you. I know more because i experienced a course that means i have the only valid opinion on the forum, unless you also did this course then your opinion doesnt count. I'm going to list my opinions as factual without evidence and then be rude to you for providing your opinions if they dont match with mine. Its alright to be rude to other people because this is an open-forum and i am allowed to harshly critique peoples opinions and themselves despite claiming it is wrong for that user to do the same to the comic" You should be able to search back through the comments for the precise times when he says each different aspect of that, its not hard to find. DeeVee's comments are not how a civil or friendly discussion should work, especially when MakutaOfWar says that the style of discussion is causing issue, that he feels targetted; and then is called a jerk and told that he can have criticisms, just not the criticism he is presenting. I'm not agreeing or disagreeing with either of the members opinion, because it worrying to share opinions now without the risk of being spoken down to and targetted. Its just the idea that one member can call another a jerk for presenting an opinion and generally talk down to that user is disgusting and should'nt be happening. It has its issues, but the animation has been improving a lot. Season 2 opens with a gloriously-well-choreographed food fight. In terms of applying RT stuff to Bonkle, I'd love to see some of the RvB Season 8 fights with Epsilon-Tex and/or Meta in Bonkle style Might end up watching the rest of it at some stage then :3 I suppose its just difficult for me to get into a new animation style. Grown accustom to seeing certain levels of animation quality and set a bar where i tend to avoid any animation below a certain point. I'm not sure how RvB aspects would be adapted if it ever became like a Bionicle series, given the idea was that the game came first. Little confused about what you mean, or do you just mean the idea of replicating the action in animated form? Edited April 24, 2015 by Scarilian Quote
DraikNova Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) What with the way you've been behaving, I'm guessing the chances are 50/50 that you are banned instead of DV. Most of the people who tried to do stuff like this (3rdeye comes to mind) got banned a while after the conversation reached this level. Can we stop arguing about this, please, and just have a civil discussion about the actual topic rather than a dozen pointless arguments about who is right to say that the other person is wrong? At any rate, if the Doo Head with the mace was what inspired the manas, I'm kind of dissapointed. The Doo Head design seems much more interesting and is very disturbing. MakutaOfWar Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 ^Neither should be banned, but the point is everybody is entitled an opinion and shouldn't be attacked(unless it's something horrible, which mine was not) or have other opinions pushed on them. End of discussion. Also this talk about the Voodoo heads makes me think I should actually get around to watching the video, they all sound interesting, and I need a nostalgia trip. Quote

DraikNova Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 That's actually an excellent-looking Great Being MOC. It really gives you a sense that these creatures are old, older than dirt. And no, I don't feel that the existence of Toa of Earth invalidates that saying. Quote

Can we stop arguing about this, please, and just have a civil discussion about the actual topic rather than a dozen pointless arguments about who is right to say that the other person is wrong? I've made two comments, both expressing distaste in very clear bullying such as calling someone a jerk. I would have moved on immediately from the first comment, however had to response to someone supporting the person calling people jerks and clarifying what has happened for them. Thats all i've done recently, so not sure why you believe their is a chance of me being banned for sticking up for someone is clearly being bullied. The only reason this conversation has gone more than a single comment is because i have to clarify for people who desire to join the conversation who didnt read or understand the situation and say things like what you have just said which dont contribute to the conversation in any form, or like the other comment, support the person bullying other users Their is no arguement going on, it was just me doing the same as you were, asking for a civil discussion and for users to actually be friendly while sticking up for a user who was being called a jerk and bullied over the last few pages :L Edited April 24, 2015 by Scarilian Quote

dviddy Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 ^I have nothing against the box comics, it's what I would expect to see on a box, I actually find them cute on the box but a whole graphic novel of them? No. Again my opinions. As for the online animations I would have prefer that they were even more reminiscent of MNOG, of which I extremely found entertaining, but the voice acting in English is just, bleh. I only watched the first 3 promotions for and nothing more due to the voice acting. And since we are talking about promotional material I expect them to be cheaper, since they are after all still experimenting with the theme, but as I said before graphic novels step away from promotional material and into supplying the means of keeping an interest instead of working to gain it. And I'd rather see more stylized and detailed artwork, maybe even the full potential of the artists who created the box work. But these are my preferences which I care about, you have yours and I have mine, but I'm going to back up mine since I don't believe I'm in any wrong here. As far as I'm concerned, as others have decided to talk for/about me (?), this is pretty much where we've reached a pretty stable accord. Quote
Dorek Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 Completely unrelated and late to the party, but I notice that the hi-res box shots we got the other day all have some strange tabs at the bottom of them... was this some planned feature that got removed, or what? Quote

No, they're on the actual boxes, including the ones we've had so far. Usually they're not that pronounced, because that's the surface the boxes sit on, but if you look at one of the boxes to the current sets the same "tab" will be there. Quote

I guess I was more wondering why they didn't include them in the final renders elsewhere, i.e. were they actually planning on doing anything with the tabs, but you're right, it's more related to the way they fold than anything else. The Outsider Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 (edited) Hopefully, we get some Protector names. I can't see them constantly being referred to as "Protector of ___". Unless, of course, they just focus on Tahu and POF, in which case they could just keep saying "the Protector". In all honesty, while part of me would love names for them, I'm also pretty fond of the headcanon that by accepting the role of "Protector of ____" they forsake their previous identity entirely. So they wouldn't have names, because their role is their identity entirely. Sort of like how the Pope chooses a name and as far as the Catholic Church canon considers it, the previous person name is gone, and the person is now solely "Pope so-and-so". History has a few other traditions where the office becomes the identity, and fiction is full of it. IDK, I'm pretty torn on this. It'd be cool to give them the names of the old Turaga (I much prefer this to the "give them the names of the Chronicler's company or the Inika/Mahri" idea), but at the same time, the whole "you take this mantle, all of who you are is gone, and you are the office" is also very cool and mythical feeling to me. I remember posting that idea a while back; glad to know more people have considered the possibility! As for how they adress each other, the Protectors could always call themselves "brother/sister" like in Gen1. You know what would be cool? If the seventh member of the Toa team wasn't a humanoid, but a dog-like beast of some sort. (Think Iggy from JJBA.) His power could be animal control ore maybe just still be light (Hard-light). It could be a really cool twist on the formula and we could get a non-humanoid build, the CCBS torso already has a tail connection point so I can't see why the wouldn't use it. Also, I'm supper excited for the books and those "Doo Heads" looked really neat, I just wish I could've seen the names on he side of the canister. Cool concept! As for the names, according to Biosector01 they were Axe, Claw, Hook, Flame, Blade and Kick (guess who became who ). I can't help it but I only see Great Beings in those prototypes, thanks for the base of the bone head Lewi Great MOC! Now all it needs is a cloak... At any rate, if the Doo Head with the mace was what inspired the manas, I'm kind of dissapointed. The Doo Head design seems much more interesting and is very disturbing. That's probably why they changed it: LEGO wanted kids to buy these things, not run away screaming. It's also why they changed from "knocking heads off" to "knocking masks off". Although what's too scary and what's not has obviously changed over the years. Is everyone forgetting that the Manas had treads? I thinks that's the point: if the Doo Head had treads like the Manas, it would be more stable. EDIT: Episode 9 is now in English at Youtube. Ekimu's voice...doesn't sound quite as I'd pictured. Kalhiki Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 I thinks that's the point: if the Doo Head had treads like the Manas, it would be more stable. Yeah, but then he wouldn't be as cool. Seeing a robot walk is much cooler than seeing a robot roll around. And he'd lose some of his scary factor. Seeing that guy charge at you the way he does, ball and chain flailing... It's terrifying. Clone 01354 Productions Posted April 24, 2015 Posted April 24, 2015 EDIT: Episode 9 is now in English at Youtube. Ekimu's voice...doesn't sound quite as I'd pictured. Well, keep in mind that Ekimu has been dead (or, in a coma) for a thousand years. I'd expect his voice to sound a little hoarse. And now that we have all the episodes for the winter wave, I just want to say that I loved the animations. I think that they have the right tone for the new BIONICLE, even though the episodes were pretty short.... Which reminds me: Is there a chance that the summer animations might be longer? Quote
Kalhiki Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 (edited) And then two seconds later he'd fall over due to instability. Dude, that's the best part! :D (Okay, yeah, walking robots need work, and treads are way more practical, but when done right walking>rolling) EDIT: Watched Ep 9. I'd say it's my favorite if just for the additional screen time for the characters. I'm glad to see that some characters (Lewa, Gali, etc.) got more lines. Really solidified their voices in the animations as opposed to the brief bit we got in the previous episode. I think the only voice I don't like is Onua. Voice is fine, but talks too slow for my taste. Anywho, looking forward to the summer animations! Edited April 25, 2015 by Kalhiki Quote
Bigger Fish Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 You know, I would really like to see that walking mace guy from the prototype video to show up in the new BIONICLE. Because I think the he's too good of an idea to not be revisited and improved upon. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 I'm just now catching up with the episodes--is it just me, or does the animated LOSS look a lot like Brak? Quote
DraikNova Posted April 25, 2015 Posted April 25, 2015 (edited) Can someone please link the 9th episode? I'm having a lot of difficulty finding it. EDIT: Nevermind. "I've got a weird voice in my head again" is possibly the best BIONICLE quote of all time. Also, I noticed a cocoon hanging off the bridge the toa walked over. Could be interesting if they decided to show us what that's all about at some point. And Lewa compares finding Ekimu's tomb to finding a needle in a haystack. How would the toa know what either of those things is? I doubt either of those things even exists on Okoto. Edited April 25, 2015 by DraikNova Quote

My problem isn't the voice being hoarse (okay, maybe it is...), it's that I was expecting a "legendary ancient leader" or "wise elder" tone and instead got what fells to me like "sitcom grandpa". I actually think the VA did a much better job with the PoF's voice. Now that I think of it, there is something I would prefer in the animations and graphic novel more than longer running time or a different artstyle: more displays of elemental power. We haven't really seen much of that yet, have we? Can someone please link the 9th episode? I'm having a lot of difficulty finding it. EDIT: Nevermind. Not sure about the cocoon, but there's definitely a few things on the bridge that will be revisited and expanded upon. Though I think the empty pedestal is probably first in the list. As for needles and haystack: the Protectors wear cloaks, and Okotoan society is shown to be closer to humans than the Matoran society ever was (with the children and the fishing...), so there probably are needles and haystacks in Okoto. And if there aren't, maybe those exist in wherever (or whenever ) the Toa came from. Quote

And if there aren't, maybe those exist in wherever (or whenever ) the Toa came from. Yes, but have any of the Toa been capable of in such a short amount of time (few weeks alone with a Protector) learning what a needle is, let alone hay, and then finding out/creating a metaphor using the two? I'm not really sure if we can say the Okotoan culture can be called "closer" to human culture/s in comparison to Gen 1, after all, the Matoran played sports, created art, had a significant (in comparison to Gen 2) number of religious beliefs, created machinery (Boxor comes to mind), and so on.
