I don't think it needs any explanation. As someone else said before, it's just armor, and it can come in different alloys or materials.

IMO I do like the silver on Tahu, because it keeps the scheme from looking too monochromatic, but specially on Onua, who I think balances it the best with the rest of his palette.

The only one in which I agree it looks odd is Kopaka, but for me the problem there is too much white. Silver feet, hands and definetively shield would have been a better choice.

I don't really have any qualms about mixing silver and gunmetal at all really (sometimes for me, it's a necessity when making a very large MOC and when distributed correctly, gives a nice impression of multiple alloy armour), and I quite like the colour schemes of all the Toa (asides from using yellow for the gears on all of them - it stands out way too much on most of them so I swapped them for black - except on Gali where yellow is used elsewhere on the model). But I will be honest - I would have preferred it if Tahu's chestplate (the armour add-on to the torso shell that is) were red, Kopaka's white, Lewa's green and Gali's dark azure, to match their elemental colours. Pohatu looks a bit like the odd one out out of all the ones that use small chestplates.

The only colour scheme I'm not really a fan of is Kopaka's, but that's purely because it's a bit jumbled and there's too much going on. I know I removed his trans-blue bones and replaced them with black and it does help somewhat (though I'll be honest - I needed his bones for an MOC), but ultimately, the silver torso armour really should have been gold or white instead. It would have been a chance to get the Brain Attack torso shell in a new colour too :sadnew:

They're the larger sets, so I can only imagine that's why.

I just assumed three gold, three silver is sort of like how, say, the Piraka had two gold, two silver, two gunmetal. It's just an accent colour, not meant to denote anything.

Well yeah, in the story it probably doesn't mean anything. But since all three are the more expensive sets, the gold is probably used as a draw; "these sets are worth more because they have GOLD you should buy them".

There's some truth to that. The product descriptions say Pohatu, Lewa, and Gali include "BIONICLE shells" but Tahu and Onua are said to have "gold BIONICLE shells." Kopaka has no such text; odd since he's the only Toa to include the white piston add-ons.

I have to say, I think Kopaka might be my least favourite of the large Toa (Though I haven't gotten Onua yet). I liked the build and the armour designs, but his legs were a mess, his spear was underwhelming, the shoulder pads impeded his arms, which were themselves too short and made posing him a chore, and the random silver torso shell when the entirety of his other armour was white or gold was terrible.

As an experiment, I gave him Breakout Nex's torso shell, and the chestplate addon perfectly hid the printing and it made him look a fair bit better. Sadly, he ended up being a reverse Lewa: I bought Lewa pretty much because he had parts I wanted, and then it turned out that he would've been my favourite design of the six if not for the Mask of Air.

If there's one thing I can say for next year's Toa (If we get them again), it's this: I don't want the £15/$20 Toa.

With the two larger Toa that I've had so far, I have to say that I've had issues. Tahu's legs are too long. Kopaka's issues I listed above. Meanwhile, the smaller Toa that I've got (All three) I've had much less of an issue with. Okay, Pohatu's not great, but he can be fixed with two short bones and two dark orange shells. I think maybe having all six at the same price point might make them more cohesive and avoid some of the weird issues the first wave had. And then the money saved could go into making that fourth £13/$15 set better.

I was thinking. Remember how some of the G1 Toa Mata had asymmetrical arms? It'd be cool if they did something like that for the potential G2 "Nuva". Kinda like the Hordika in a way except without the insane size difference. Like Tahu would have a normal arm and one that was a fire sword.

Got the idea after seeing this (and other pieces of his art): http://the-ht-wacom-man.deviantart.com/art/Toa-Tahu-Pro-460031028

I don't know. I guess I just want to see a greater amalgam of older designs and concepts integrated into the next set of Toa.

i would be totally in favor of that. have a specialty tool arm would be considered a very powerful upgrade! i can also imagine them utilizing a new blaster piece with them, or some other gimmick that can make it sell.

I totally agree and will take it a step further by saying I would like elemental infusions, utilizing more trans colors and pieces based on the elements. For example, purple crystal spikes for Onua, thorny vines on Lewa, etc. I could see Pohatu having a new tan sand dune-like swooped armor add on to better separate Earth and Stone, while Onua has a more crystaline appearance. Heck, that same swoop piece could be used in trans blue on Gali too.

So the summer sets aren't releasing today? August, right?

B-B-But next month it will be a year since the first winter wave of Bio leaked. ;-; I cried manly nostalgia tears that night.

Speaking of leaks, no news about 2016?

Wow, really? I can't believe it has been that long......It feels like just yesterday that I saw the blurry, black-and-white image, when I doubted that BIONICLE would ever return, that it was some lame fake in order to trick desperate fans. And then the months of analyzing the colored display.......

I miss those days. :cry_sad:

Nope, it appears not. August is sure now. What's interesting though is that the other day, I was browsing TRU UK's website, and symbolising the Bionicle theme there was Skull Grinder's beautifully grotesque head (not the MoCr as you'd expect), which gave me hope that the Summer sets might have been on their way.

Alas, no.

You're not 100%. There's still July.

In the US they might be out in some stores in July. But where I am, it's highly unlikely I'll see them in physical stores until August. It's been that way for the last couple of years for the majority of Constraction sets. Only catalogue stores like Argos had them for sale in July, but last year or two they've been on a bit of a Constraction boycott, so to say :sceptic:

As always, there will be some broken street dates. But official release is August, so don't hold your breath until then.

Thanks for mentioning.

Of course street dates will be broken as they have always been broken. And we will began hearing about people having the sets on mid-end July. Not this month however and I wouldn't expect to get mine earlier than August.

For my country/region, we usually get the sets late anyway (except, for some odd and unkown reason :sarcasm: , Jurassic World).

Man, it would be great if that were official (except the blaster; Gen1 already filled my quota. New gimmick, please! ). Though for Pohatu I think something mimicking a canyon's cliffside might convey stone better, while still keeping the desert theme and differentiating from Earth.

I want 2016 Pohatu to use two protecter guns repurposed as revolvers. I also want the scrapped Cyber Dino Jungle from G1 to be revisited because that idea's to good to pass up.

I can't hear you over the sound of a $35 tyrannosaur (preferably black and purple. I'm sick and tired of red getting the top billing) screaming it's piercing shriek. I'd especially love it if they'd use an Azhdarchid as the counterpart to Lewa, because, as far as flying creatures go, one of those is infinitely scarier than some bird or insect-based villain. Also, people'd go nuts over the wing membranes, just like they do over every single cape ever. Also, I imagine 2016 Onua with a large drill with tr. purple elements in one hand and a large Gatling gun piece based pistol in the other. Or maybe the gatling gun could be integrated into his arm or used as a shoulder-mounted weapon, which always seemed the most practical way to use both a melee weapon and a ranged one simultaneously. For one thing, it still allows you to dual-wield or use the free arm to help stabilize yourself.

Oh, please no Robo-Dinos. I want sentient enemies, not more swarms.

I would also love it if they used the Robo-Dinos in the near future. Also, nothing says that they would have to be horde enemies. Not to mention there could be a dino tribe of sorts that ride the dinos or the dinosaurs could be Barraki-like monsters that are still very intelligent and deadly.

I was thinking an enemy wave made up of Gen 1 enemy remakes would be cool some day. Bohrok, Rahkshi, Vahki, Visorak, but just one of each obviously... not six that share a different color...
