I KNEW IT I KNEW IT I FRICKIN KNEW IT

please stop that joke is getting old

I wanted to show that video anyway. And the joke was too good to pass up. I won't do it again.

On another note I hope the summer sets start showing up in Canada and the US. I don't want to have to wait till August for them

I actually don't believe it was.

Same, though I can't see myself bulk-buying them like I did the Toa. I may go a Protector-route and get them one at a time over time.

Wait, so the villains are wearing the Masks of Power?

It appears they take the masks and wear them so they gain a power boost, via wearing them or simply because they are no longer on the Toa, the masks then begin to lose power - atleast thats how it appears with Slicer wearing Lewa's mask of Jungle.

I hope not, especially since there's nothing stopping the toa just putting their old, colour specific masks back on. The gold ones are separate, so unless they chucked the old ones, they should have a backup.

Not sure if this was pointed out yet but the Skulls are for sale in the official Lego Store in Berlin. Just got a bunch from there. Seems the official Lego Stores don't care that they are supposed to be released in August.

Yeah... What did they do with their standard masks?

You know, that's one of the things that the animations frustratingly didn't cover. Even though they were an improvement on some of the old Bionicle movies, which never even showed the characters taking OFF their masks and instead had them place one mask over the other, they still didn't show what the Toa did with the old masks afterwards. Maybe they did like the characters in the first three Bionicle movies did with their tools, and stuck them into the mysterious hammerspace in their backs. :tongue:

Yeah I was thinking that in my prior post of where they could store them, and knowing the sets- Nowhere. I guess the Protector's could, you know, "Protect" them. In promotional material like this months magazine with Lewa and Tahu fighting Kulta and the bunch they are wearing their original masks, but who knows if that's canon...

Edit: Seems Aanchir has a theory... ^

OH GOD!! I had a terrible dream last night that I got the summer sets but:

-The blended Lewa mask was blue at the top like the animations

-The blended Pohatu mask was dark green at the bottom instead of neon green at the top for whatever reason

-And there was something just... off about all of the sets. I don't know what, either.

The animation style has changed likely, so it could be that.

In addition;

- Onua, Kopaka and Tahu all have noticeable back armour that is lacking on the official sets, the gold also appears slightly darker on the toa though that might be due to lighting

- Slicer is more bulky at the upper back and only has two of his three swords, attached to his back in a way that is not possible on the actual set. The chest is also less detailed than the actual set

- Grinder has a bulkier chin and bulkier horns, he can lift his weapon and has his sword attached to his back in a way that is not possible on the actual set. The chest is also less detailed than the actual set

- Skull Warrior is thinner, his bone pieces are both dark and light grey and his upper arms are black along with his main CCBS body. The chest is also less detailed than the actual set. Along with some of his character models being flipped in some shots.

- Basher is the most altered. His mask is noticeably thinner while his horns are bulked out to look like they are attached to his head, similar to the other skull warriors he has a lot of black areas to fillout the body and give a much more alive/human/better proportioned appearance. Some of his gunmetal/grey armour is now orange and his shoulder orange pieces/spikes have been completely ignored/removed

I think the main differences are with the Skull Warriors, they likely attempted the skeletal design and realised it didnt work for the bulky proportions and thus filled in space with lots of black pieces. To demonstrate here is a rough version of Basher 'fixed' without the additional black shading to cover the gaps and without the orange shoulder pieces that were removed in the animation shot we saw;

I was just describing my dream

But it did seem to be influenced by the animations

The orange bohrok eye is missing from his axes. Just confirms these were based on late prototypes like the toa, judging by Tahu's mask and all.

lol. Look at those dinosaur feet on Basher. And that head. He looks so goofy!

Grinder's massive chin, aside.

Man I love the animations' art style.

Somehow, seeing that animation shot of Basher makes me wish we had got the bony appendages in purple to be used as horns, rather than the Ben 10 tails. I understand why it was done, I just somehow wished we'd got purple bony appendages. It would have fitted better with the skeletal aesthetic to say the least.
