Jetrax99 Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Honestly, I didn't find it funny, but I'm not gonna rage about it. Anyway, BIONICLE CONFIRMED!!!!! Quote
Taaron Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 (edited) I thought it funny, too. I'm so conflicted about Lego bringing back Bionicle, though. I enjoyed so much of Bionicle while it was running (save for 2008 till the year before Hero Factory, as those sets being so fragile you can't rebuild with them really damaged Lego's quality standards in my book.) but I can't help be a little bit bummed, since at the beginning of the year I lost something like 75% to 80% of my Bionicle collection when I moved. I was able to mostly console myself about losing by taking into consideration that Lego was moving on, I could move on and not fret too much over losing it. Now that they're bringing the line back, I'm regretting losing all those sets, again. Edited July 27, 2014 by Taaron Quote
Kingslayer Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Honesty though of Tahu looks anything like Furno XL I'm happy. Quote
Sir Walter Maugham Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Hell yeah, 120% confirmation. I'm not 100% happy with the smooth sleek Hero Factory look staying... But these are preliminary images, maybe they'll end up looking a bit more piston-y like the Bionicle sets of old. Super unlikely, but I can dream can't I? And I shall mourn the loss of the beloved crotch gear. I see something interesting where Tahu's feet should be; it looks a lot like this piece. I guess it could be there because they're preliminary images. Still odd though. Also, I love Potahu's boomerangs. Quote
ATBro Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I'm still hoping hero factory can stay for a little while to tie up the loose ends, though with this evidence it is unlikely that will happen. Now I want keep the core alive to be a thing. I guess you don't appreciate something till you lose it Quote
TheGreatSpirit Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 (edited) Am I the only one that thinks that the troll photoshop actually kinda works? Like, it's obviously meant to look fake, but they still somewhat fit IMO. Odd Edited July 27, 2014 by TheGreatSpirit Quote

If they didn't start after Breakout, what with Von Nebula escaping and all, they wouldn't now. That would be like if Bionicle had announced Teridax's return, then ignored that thread and made a wave of rogue Bohrok. And then instead of facing the Bahrag, the Toa went off to play Pacific Rim with some oversized Rahi. In fairness, Bionicle actually did do that, set-wise. Teridax took over the MU, everything was going to be epic, and then Bara Magna happened. A bland, boring Tatooine-knockoff, with non-powered organic Toa and douchebag not-Matoran, where they just had arena battles because Gladiator or something. Sure, we had a story update in Reign of Shadows... but the sets never focused on the MU after 08, so we missed out on things like Light-Makuta Teridax, or Shadow Takanuva, or new Exo-Toa and Rahkshi, or anything that would've made Bionicle epic. But nope, Bara Magna, and then the line goes under almost immediately. Quote
Mandate Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 It wasn't just Bara Magna. I'm sure everyone remembers the hideous Mata Nui/s they released? The movie version was better, although apparently the movie was terrible too (I've seen it, but too long ago to remember anything from it) Quote
Gatanui Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 (edited) I think Mata Nui (the small one) was a really cool set. And the movie wasn't terrible in my opinion, considering it was a movie for kids I found it pretty decent, though not good enough to consider it a really good movie. BIONICLE 2 still beats all the others in my opinion. -Gata Edited July 27, 2014 by Gatanui Quote
Agent Fusion Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I kind of liked the Mata Nui's, but maybe that's just because Ignika. Quote

Lord-Vorahk Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I got both Mata Nui's and liked them. The only problem I had with the titan was the overload of colours, and the small set was basically the only Glatorian set that I didn't see as a pack of parts for building more Toa. Of course, both are currently dismantled, but I might rebuild them one day. Quote

I don't know about you, but in 2008 I was sick tired of Makuta Teridax still being around, after having seen him "defeated" a million of times. The Bara Magna arch was the most fascinating since a while IMHO, with a tribe feel we hadn't seen since 2003 (or even '01) adn FINALLY a decent explanation to the origins of the MU. If we had seen all the things you mentioned (new Exo.oa etc.) it would have been really uncreative. Bara Magna was a fresh start, and if it was given the three years story arch it was going to, I think there would be more Bara Magna and Glatorian lovers out there, beyonde me and a couple of fellas. Personally, I think Bara Magna was a good idea, but I didn't like its execution. Bara Magna didn't get as much world development as the MU. The history of Bara Magna is limited to only a few major events, and the same for both it's location and fauna. I feel like Bara Magna had lots of potential, but we never got to see that potential, but I don't see that as a reason to hate it. The fact that Reign of Shadows was instead focused on the MU as opposed to Bara Magna also served as a sort of reminder to those who disliked 2009 of the universe we just left that we had so much attachment to. I would have liked it if we had a few years of story separate from the MU, to sort of build its history before having Mata Nui arrive, then having the quest for the Prototype robot, then the final final battle. Possibly having the MU serials weaved in after Mata Nui's reintroduction. Quote

I hope you realize that things like Light-Teridax and Shadow-Takanuva were things Greg made up for the serials that would probably never have gotten sets no matter where the focus of the story was. I always think it's ridiculous when people talk about things that should have been sets which were never actually envisioned with sets in mind. The only character of that sort we ever got as a set was Karzahni, and look how that turned out — barely a passing resemblance to his appearance as it had been established in previous media. Quote
Kalhiki Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 In regards to Bara Magna, I kinda liked it. It was something new and fresh after Toa and Matoran every year. So I guess the pseudo-reboot they were trying to pull worked on me. Though a lot of concepts I didn't like. Sisters of the Skrall just seemed weird and pointless, and the Element Lords just didn't sit right with me. Other than that, I liked the whole Gladiator thing they had going. And the environment with the Prototype Robot pieces strewn about everywhere was cool, too. And now that the planet is reformed, I'm really hoping for a continuation just so we can stick around on the planet. And if it's set far enough in the future, I'd like to see a combination of environments from previous years. We could have Mata-Nui-esque regions with smaller villages, but also large Metru-like cities here and there. Quote

To be fair he had been grotesquely mutated by the Pit in that set. That's what happens when you get an extra hour in the ball pit. Quote
