I think that him being a gladiator is a good idea and makes sense as he is an individual like Slicer and not a horde enemy like Scorpio and Warrior. It would give him a purpose for the theme and explain why he is a humanoid and individual.
October 23, 20159 yr I thought Basher was a creation of Kulta? I know the Scorpio's are, which share the same mask as Basher, unlike Slicer who was raised from the dead by LoSS. Edited October 23, 20159 yr by MakutaOfWar
October 23, 20159 yr Slicer is the only skellie which is confirmed to be the original skeleton of a bygone character. There is only one Basher, yes, but that's not necessarily proof that Minotauroids roamed the city of the Mask Makers - like you say, Scoprios are just re-amalgomated bones, much like the Warriors. Basher may very well be the same deal.
October 24, 20159 yr Hold on, when was anything confirmed to be a creation of Grinder? The box descriptions say he used the MoC to do it, but the animations seem to imply he'd never worn it before he used it to defeat the Toa.
October 26, 20159 yr So, I got my villain pack! Sadly, the skull mask was done in the cheaper, much less lustrous looking pearl gold ABS, which is rather disappointing. But, it still looks pretty nice. The card stand was rather fiddly to put together, but looks alright all things considered. I appreciate the little Technic pieces, too. October 28, 20159 yr Finalized covers for both Revenge of the Skull Spiders and the activity book are up. Slightly different than each of their prelim covers, although nothing much else is new.

It's an okay generic mask to include, but they really missed a chance putting something else in there (Like the MoCr or a red Skull Spider), but that has already been discussed.

There was never any chance of there being an exclusive mask. This is an activity book. Activity books never include exclusive contents (at least, not exclusive PARTS—this year's Elves activity book includes a nifty brick-built bracelet instead of a figure). I don't know why anyone ever got their hopes up. As for the Mask of Creation... Lego would be stupid to include one of the most prominent and desirable masks in the year in a cheap activity book. The whole point of including things like that in the most expensive sets is to help draw in customers, and making them available outside of the sets themselves would only undermine that. Including the "less desirable" Ekimu mask is actually a really smart move in that respect, since it'll increase demand for the book (since the mask is only available in the most expensive set) without decreasing demand for Mask Maker vs. Skull Grinder (because the prominent and desirable Mask of Creation is still exclusive to that same set). Has a coupon to redeem a 5002941 BIONICLE Pack on last page 2nd to 31st January 2016 - in store only I was looking at the topic about seasonal sets because I just noticed the Gingerbread House 'set' and was interested in it, but thats beside the point. The store calendar was mentioned and I noticed this so I thought I'd notify people over here. I know its a 2016 promotion but its for the Hero Pack we've seen before (hence why I put it it in the 2015 not 2016 discussion). A bit of a shame that it isn't the Kulta Golden mask but oh well.
October 30, 20159 yr The Hero Pack again? Huh. Guess they didn't get rid of as many as they wanted to? Hopefully Kulta's mask will be December.
October 31, 20159 yr Man those look SOOOOO COOL. The Skeletons aren't bad, but you can tell they scrapped a lot from the original concept. And Scorpio and Basher/Crusher are clearly 20 Euro sets there. They were also quite a bit more creative with the colours, what with dark blue+trans orange, tan+trans purple and lime+purple. Different ideas for the same characters, but still. Actually those kind of remind me of Playtest Anon's villains. Hmmm...
October 31, 20159 yr I wish Grinder has those hands in his final form, that would've set him apart much better.
October 31, 20159 yr If only... Those are sweet. Concept art is always so cool. I wonder what it'd be like if those designs were what we got.
October 31, 20159 yr Wow, these are pretty cool! (although the two "Skull Warrior" from the third panel seem too sci-fi for this year; might be just the grey background, though) Also, I can see many awesome characters that never passed the concept (Skull Bat! Two-in-one! Winged demon lord with face-hammer! Face shields! Elemental warriors with individual weapons!). I wonder if there's a reason they were scrapped (other than cost, that is). Also, SKULLPion, LOL!
October 31, 20159 yr Does anyone know where can the Tahu image promoting the Netflix series be found? Do we know the artist? (Yeah, there are countries where Netflix isn't available.) Thanks in advance.
October 31, 20159 yr Upon closer inspection of the concept art and prototypes, there's a lot of neat stuff there. Really sad the Voodoo Brothers didn't make it into official sets. They look pretty cute. And Skull Crusher's hammers apparently would have attached together to make the combiner's massive face-mallet. There's what appears to be a new add-on or something that features a ball joint. That seems to be a pretty interesting and useful piece. Of course, there's also the Protector prototypes and all those masks. Some really strange stuff there. I know there's really no point in over-analyzing concept art and prototypes since pretty much none of this stuff will see release, but it is cool to see what could have been. Also, "Kulta Kal" is the name of the combiner apparently.
October 31, 20159 yr Hooo, those are really cool. I would have loved to see something like the battle bat.

October 31, 20159 yr It's nice to see the concept of flying skull-creature (which is beaten to death by me and Aanchir) was actually pretty close of becoming a set. While the characters look cool and menacing and I would had actually preferred a part that resembled more of a rib cage like these have, many of those are too same-y And couple of them are really generic and bland too or really hard to execute as a working set (the first would had had massive balancing problems with those shield-swords) I think I would had liked a lineup of seven sets, Skull warrior with that gunbalde, a more filled Skull Slicer, skull warlock, Final basher but with those cool hammers, Battle Bat, Voodoo Brothers and the Kulta vs Ekimu but Kulta having some additional bulk (the stand is bloody useless). October 31, 20159 yr Are there any larger versions of those pictures. I want to give my hand at recreating some of them.

Don't know how you're viewing the images, but just clicking them on Tumblr brings up a little image viewer slideshow thing. However, if you open the image in a new tab, you'll be able to view it full-size. Hopefully the image is large enough for you to see in detail. Btw, I love those gigantic sword/shields the lime and purple dude has. Oh man, oversized weapons are the best.
