I never really found proportion an issue in Bionicle. They were in their own separate world, so I didn't think about them having to need human proportions.

Sorry to change the subject, but has anyone thought about what the story could be?

Quest for that weird-looking gold mask? If it's a continuation, I think all the Toa will be given something similar to Tahu's golden armor from 2010, just to be able to deal with everything that stands on their way to get that mask, or maybe they will be somehow transformed during the quest. If it's not a continuation, I have no idea where all that gold came from :P

If it's a continuation, then I think the 2010 Golden Armour might end up destroyed, or nerfed in some way. Tahu used it to kill basically very Rahkshi in existence at that time, and because of that, he now has all of the Makuta powers. Broken, much?

Because of those Gold Armor parts It's hard to believe this is a reboot, although some things point towards it. Also I don't think this is on Bota Magna, since everything is not jungle themed, rather in various parts of reformed parts of Spherus Magna. What points towards this especially is that those Defenders look more like Agori rather than Matoran, pillars behind Pohatu could wery be Glatorian Arena.

There are structures Behind Toa, not just environmental like in Mata and Nuva, they are more like Winter Glatorian sets.

Some people have pointed out that the yellow thing next to BIONICLE in those packages looks like Island of Mata Nui, for me it seems more like the same Mystery Mask since it even looks to be even in same angle like the one on top.

The mask is portrayed in a jungle temple. So it could very well be that sets are just portrayed in environments suiting for them and the mask is actually in Bota Magna, but so was Kini-Nui in a jungle.

Newertheless, If this is a continuation The main evil could be "Velika". I don't think they want to bring Teridax back.

Speaking of the launch, how do you think BIONICLE will fare?

Ninjago was LEGO'S biggest launch ever, surpassing BIONICLE itself: yet the two were launched in very different years for the LEGO Group, BIONICLE at the end of the so called " dark age".

In this new, richer situation than 2001 will BIONICLE be able to break any record?

Personally, I don't think so. The reason? Nowadays people go crazy for minifigs, not robots.

I'm in two minds about Teridax possibly returning. On one hand, he's the big bad, the main villain, and it wouldn't be the same without him. On the other hand it likely wouldn't the same anyway.

I wouldn't say that, as I assume that 8-14 year olds is the demographic you are talking about, there are many people on the LMBs, who dislike the Hero Factory minifigures.

I hope it's a reboot. That way we have a chance of getting the Nuva in 2016! Heh.

I hope it's a reboot. That way we have a chance of getting the Barraki in 2021! ;P

EDIT: Woop 100 posts since 2009! That's really slow...

I get your point, but people already interested in robots didn't like the minifigs.

As Ninjago demonstrated, people like a deep story and minifigs.

HF wasn't very good at both, and guess which line is (most probably) living its last year right now?

The Toa have resumed their roles as the defenders of the defenceless. A swarm of spiders is ravaging the land, its only weakness being the power of a mysterious mask. The Toa set off to find the mask, each aided by an Agori Apprentice. But to locate the mask, they must first find the six Golden masks, one hidden in each village. But the spiders are closing in on their prey...

This line will have a strong comeback, but will get shorter and shorter as the year passed. Im basing this on ppl who grew up with the first series. They will be a majority of the sales for this line, but like every other remake, the old fanbase will start attacking it for not being exactly like the old. We're already reading some weird standards for this line (ppl want technic functions like 2001 :sceptic: ).

Right now, everyone who grew up playing with bionicle is 16-28. We know there not making this line for us, we cant even assume the fanbase is interested in buying the line cause CCBS design. A TV show would help promote the line the same way Chima did. But now im starting to wonder how big is the constraction fanbase for Lego compare to there minifig fanbase. I always feel like we're pretty small, also doubt we can break that sale record

I give it 3-5 years before we replace it with something else. Im also hoping they continue the Hero Factory line and make another Chima Line too.

But you guys are reading a CCBS design fan

Sounds pretty good, if there were Matoran instead of Agori.

You stated the obvious

Every line hits big with its issue no.1, and even titanic franchises like Pokémon were never able to surpass the success of the first titles, always on a slow, slow, slow (but constant) decline.

Even Ninjago is slowly declining, that's the nature of things.

But yeah, BIONICLE was an oddball in the way it was LEGO's best selling IP (and still is, I think, since Ninjago has been around for only 3 years) of all times althoug being constraction based, an area LEGO touched for the first time only a couple of years before BIONICLE was born.

Today LEGO has been making robots for almost 20 years, and they've become pretty good at it.

I still hope BIONICLE's return will make LEGO really, REALLY happy for having resurrected the line.

What exactly are you basing this on? I don't think this will be the case at all. Generally when the LEGO Group brings back a retired line, it's because they consider certain aspects of its appeal timeless. A very simple example is Space Police — the idea of "police in space" is something that can be appreciated by fans young and old, whether or not they had any exposure to the earlier Space Police themes. With BIONICLE, "mechanical heroes with magical masks and elemental powers" seems like it will be the basis of the new set designs, and I hardly think this is a concept that only older BIONICLE fans will be able to appreciate.

All things considered, I don't think the LEGO Group would even bother bringing BIONICLE back if they thought the majority of sales would have to come from older fans, because a lot of those older fans would have probably grown out of BIONICLE by now anyway.

Now, with that said, there will definitely be appeals to nostalgia with the new BIONICLE, just as there were with the most recent Space Police theme. The theme isn't going to go out of its way to alienate older fans. However, the focus will almost certainly be on appealing to new fans within the target age range (6–14 years old).

Disagree entirely. The gold masks, the obviously redesigned original kanohi, the element-specific backgrounds, the "hunt for the masks" looking packaging? Reboot. Tahu is even lava surfing on the package. This will be a hard reboot with new versions of the old characters doing something new. No way it's a continuation at all. Not a chance.

Its all speculation, but since a lot of us like bionicle(me included). Im assuming older fans will be take up most of the sale for this first line. But I got nothing :def_shrug:

I think you're vastly overestimating the number of older Bionicle fans versus the number of potential new fans. Consider that even at Bionicle's peak, the number of fans in organized fan communities like BZPower represented only a fraction of the theme's audience, and that the number of fans who have maintained that devotion to the brand has dwindled significantly since then. And back then, Lego's overall audience was itself much smaller than it is now, thanks to breakout successes like Ninjago and The Lego Movie. Bionicle's role in 2015 will likely be similar to its role back in 2001—to try to appeal to Lego fans who, as they grow up, are becoming less interested in simple, iconic themes like Space or Castle and are becoming more interested in larger-than-life heroes and stories with a deep mythology. The older fans who were in Bionicle's target age range back when it was still running are going to be as much of a minority demographic as older fans of most themes are—not insignificant, but not the target audience by a long shot.

I was cleaning my room and found some Bionicle pens from 2001/2002. Makes me sad Bionicle probably won't get this kind of promotional treatment this time around...
