Hi all,

I got my 10 y.o. son the Plane and cargo Lego Technic set. He was surprised to see that the bags of bricks are not numbered in the order they should be used according to the instruction book. What do you think is the best way to approach this set? Is there a particular order by which he should open the bags or should he open all if them in one go and sort out the pieces by different types?? Thanks for your help Lego people! :-)

Open them all. Get a bunch of Tupperware containers or bowls. Sort parts by colour (you can keep all axles and gears together). Leave panels in a separate pile. Stand back and enjoy the show.

P.S. Awesome dad!

In some older sets, the construction was 'modular' and it made sense to label the sets. This also called for duplication as several of the bags had blue and black pins for the specific module. Nowadays somehow TLG bundles all similar parts together, this helps with their costs but also with sorting before you start building.
