Very well done indeed. I like this a lot better than the castle and viking chess sets.

The only thing that could be improved is that i think that the good guy pawns could be more in uniform. The different hats they have give them a pirate look when their supposed to be british soldiers

I agree. However, overall very nice. I really like the good guy bishops. Yay for chess pieces looking like what they represent!

I think the pirate pieces could look a bit more "piratey" and I think the use of viking helmets detract from that.

BTW- I'm wondering if it's just my computer/internet, but almost all 1 week old images and forum buttons are coming up as little white sqaures with 'x's. Is that happening to anyone else?

Yeah, its happening to mine as well- even people's avatars are little white squares with x's

I am aware of that, as evidenced by my sig. So, you mean to say that all Eurobricks images and buttons were hosted on BS? Wow... This is going to be quite hectic to the rest of the internet AFOL community. We're taking on water! X-O

No, but it seems some were. I have been surprised how many blogs say that they will be without pictures for a few days. Perhaps this was the real problem; the ads didn't cut it since most images were viewed off site. We are indeed taking on water, but we can always build another ship!

Only thing i don't like is that all the imperial pawns don't have the same uniform.

No biggie though.

Since it's in multiples of 8x8's, I added this Moc to the Vig portion of the Land Based MOCs Index

Thank you all very much for the nice comments. Yes, I came up with it myself. Yes, if I had enough pirate pieces I would make all the Imperial pawns uniform. Yes, the bishops are modeled after real bishops (I was very close to making two little zucchetti with two violet blobs of clay).

I'm glad you like it, Mr. Timento! Although the Imperial pawns look quite different from one another they don't look anything like the bishops, rooks, knights, or royalty. So, it's not too confusing.
