oo7 Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 I apologize for the fairly bad quality pictures, they were taken hastily after dark, and that I will not be very responsive in this topic for a little while. Quote
SirNadroj Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 Very cool! I like how you used the new skeletons! *y* (unfortunatley, I don't know how to play chess :S ) Quote
Atlack Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Very well done indeed. I like this a lot better than the castle and viking chess sets. The only thing that could be improved is that i think that the good guy pawns could be more in uniform. The different hats they have give them a pirate look when their supposed to be british soldiers other than that good job! Quote
Lt. Col. Thok Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Very nice! How did you get the arms on the old skellies to stand up? 8-| Quote
TwistedDreams Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 ^All my old skeletons stand up :/ Very nice chess set. Id rather have consistant pons, but there still cool "(unfortunately, I don't know how to play chess pir_wacko.gif )" wtf!?!?!? how could you not know how to play chess? its a classic! -TD Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted July 15, 2007 Governor Posted July 15, 2007 I apologize for the fairly bad quality pictures, they were taken hastily after dark, and that I will not be very responsive in this topic for a little while. So you came up with this by your little self Mr oo7? I don't suppose you'll get to read this post for a while... Ah well... Quote

Siegfried Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Excellent work! I would buy this in a heartbeat! (unfortunatley, I don't know how to play chess :S ) I reccomend you learn; it is a great game. Quote

I think the pirate pieces could look a bit more "piratey" and I think the use of viking helmets detract from that. Quote
Norrington Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Hmm... Looks a little... mis-matched... BTW- I'm wondering if it's just my computer/internet, but almost all 1 week old images and forum buttons are coming up as little white sqaures with 'x's. Is that happening to anyone else? Quote

Norrington Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Brickshelf is currently dead. Read the front page for more details. I am aware of that, as evidenced by my sig. So, you mean to say that all Eurobricks images and buttons were hosted on BS? Wow... This is going to be quite hectic to the rest of the internet AFOL community. We're taking on water! X-O Quote
Fordo Posted July 15, 2007 Posted July 15, 2007 Cool chess set, very nice variety of figs you used. If lego did come back out with pirates it'd probably be like this. Quote

I have been surprised how many blogs say that they will be without pictures for a few days. Perhaps this was the real problem; the ads didn't cut it since most images were viewed off site. We are indeed taking on water, but we can always build another ship! Quote
Capn Frank Posted July 21, 2007 Posted July 21, 2007 (edited) Great idea for a moc Double-O Seven. *y* Looks pretty good. Only thing i don't like is that all the imperial pawns don't have the same uniform. No biggie though. Since it's in multiples of 8x8's, I added this Moc to the Vig portion of the Land Based MOCs Index P Edited July 25, 2007 by phred Quote
oo7 Posted July 22, 2007 Author Posted July 22, 2007 (edited) Thank you all very much for the nice comments. Yes, I came up with it myself. Yes, if I had enough pirate pieces I would make all the Imperial pawns uniform. Yes, the bishops are modeled after real bishops (I was very close to making two little zucchetti with two violet blobs of clay). Thanks for adding my humble little creation to that index Mr. Phred. *y* Edited July 22, 2007 by oo7 Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted July 22, 2007 Eurobricks Emperor Posted July 22, 2007 I'm a bit late with my feedback... Both sides look very good, but I prefer the skeletons. You did an outstanding job with those !! Are you planning some other pirate MOCs? Quote
Timento Posted July 22, 2007 Posted July 22, 2007 (edited) Well I like it *y* *y* *y* I actually like that the figures aren't the same, it's better looking. It might distract you a bit when you're playing, though... I like the :skel1: better although I don't know what's with those Viking helmets... Overall, I *sweet* it. Are you planning some other pirate MOCs? Wow, thank you, Emperor. Yes, I will produce more MOCs depicting The Age of Sail in the future. Although the Imperial pawns look quite different from one another they don't look anything like the bishops, rooks, knights, or royalty. So, it's not too confusing. Quote
