Emma Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) Here's my entry into this years Expand the Winter Village contest: The Dance Hall of the Sugar Plum Fairy Each year, everyone in the village dress up in their finery and gather together at Sugar Plum's dance hall for the annual New Year's Gala. Drinks and canapés are in plenty and enjoyed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Clause take a turn around the dance floor. (Turning the knob on the lower right spins the minifigures around.) Press down on the chandelier to light the room with a soft glow. Thanks for having a look - comments/critiques are always appreciated. Also, there are a few more pictures over on flickr. Robert8 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Lovely set! Looks like an actual LEGO product Quote
dr_spock Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Excellent work. Where do they get the dancing music? Quote
Cara Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Very pretty! I love the use of the Rapunzel's stickered tower, it looks so natural here. Quote
Captain Braunsfeld Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 This has a "friendish" look and feel to it. Quite nice. Seeing the pictures I assumed that Dr. Spock might like this - and he has already commented. You have included a lot of specials and done a lot of detail work (e.g. stairs inside and outside) which makes this MOC special. Very well done! Quote
Emma Posted December 31, 2014 Author Posted December 31, 2014 (edited) Thanks everyone for the comments Excellent work. Where do they get the dancing music? I knew I forgot something! I had a bit of time to remedy the situation, and updated the middle image - thanks dr_spock. Very pretty! I love the use of the Rapunzel's stickered tower, it looks so natural here. Thanks Cara - I don't usually apply stickers, but thought these would look good here so I had to search around for them (these are from the set with Merida). (New Years resolution -> keep stickers in one place...) Edited December 31, 2014 by Emma Quote
CoNSpiracy Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Very cute! I like the Friends/Princess feel of it, and the play functions. Where's the mistletoe above the dancing couple?! Quote
Withacee Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Fantasic design of the building, lovely theme and very original. A bit taken aback by that front door, though. I am amazed it exists in a colour like that; probably from a Friends set Great entry, good luck, and keep clicking those bricks together! Quote
greg3 Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 Nice work!! The exterior looks spot on and I love the chandelier and piano especially!! Just a pity the dance floor couldn't be a bit bigger but I guess it needed to fit into the WV style. Still a super build though. Good luck in the comp! Quote
Cecilie Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I really like this, it's cute and aesthetically pleasing, and has a very good use of colors. The curving stairs are a very nice touch. Good luck in the contest Quote
Bennemans Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 That's very cute, and very believable as an actual Lego set! Quote
ArchitectureFan Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Great creation - fantastic chandelier. Quote
trisha Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 this looks wonderful :) so cute details. Love the minifigure choices :) Quote
Emma Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 Thanks so much for the feedback & comments I am amazed it exists in a colour like that; probably from a Friends set Lol, yup a lovely lavender thanks to Disney Princesses. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I'm just now seeing this. But this is great. I love the details. The colors play off each other well. Very nicely done. Good luck. Quote
Kai NRG Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I like how this is almost in the style of a Lego set, and the use of those curves adds to that while taking nothing away from the MOC. The chandelier also is really good! Quote
CityBuilder Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Very cute! The chandelier, dancing Mr. & Mrs. Claus, and the piano are all very nice. Quote
activiapeche Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Color choice is perfect Love the various animated elements as well - very nice one!! Quote
Eureka Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 This MOC is amazing! I absolutely love every detail of it :) Quote
